Well I'm going on vacation for a couple weeks. I won't be able to check threads often so if something really big happens in the Android world please send me a PM. It would be greatly appreciated.

What's a good carrier that's not super expensive, has good data and unlimited messaging?
Just got my HTC Wildfire. Rooted it, put CM7 on it and a few apps. This thing is fucking sweet so far.
Hey guys my brother is looking for an android phone that's tough. His blackberry is just way too fragile in that it's screen broke 3 times in the past month from something. He's willing to pay 300$ max, can you guys recommend any? [editline]19th August 2011[/editline] It would be nice to get below that though. Maybe around 150$

Honestly if he has a problem with stuff breaking he should just get a newer phone and a really tough case.
He only recently got this blackberry. He doesn't usually have a problem.
Which model is it? And...why did he buy a blackberry recently?
He only recently got this blackberry. He doesn't usually have a problem.
Maybe just bad luck with his current blackberry phone(s)?
He wanted to upgrade from a pearl. It's a 9700.
Smartphones aren't exactly durable, but most of them aren't going to be like "oh shit I dropped it once, there goes another 250 bucks." Sounds like he's just worried about one breaking because he had a bad experience with his last phone. Did it just stop working or was it instigated by something?

He already has a case but it doesn't cover the screen which is what the problem is. He's thinking of giving it one last shot and buying another screen, but he's also considering repairing and selling it, then buying a new phone with whatever he gets to cover some of the cost
What's a good carrier that's not super expensive, has good data and unlimited messaging?
Anyone? Either I stay with my shitty env touch, try to upgrade that to something else on my dad's plan but that's a lot of talking to do, or just break off onto my own plan.

Sprint/T-Mobile have been the cheaper carriers if you want a contract for the contract phones.
that's not bad at all but I feel like their service would be shit
they roam onto sprint so it wouldn't be that bad, but otherwise you're looking at 70$+ a month on any real carrier
they roam onto sprint so it wouldn't be that bad, but otherwise you're looking at 70$+ a month on any real carrier
eh, I'll just try telling my dad to let me upgrade and get him set up an automatic monthly transfer into his account or something might take a bit of work but at least I can stay on verizon
I was thinking about hostmode for ICS and an idea hit me. You know those overly expensive keyboards with the colour screens? That but on your phone with more customization.
eh, I'll just try telling my dad to let me upgrade and get him set up an automatic monthly transfer into his account or something might take a bit of work but at least I can stay on verizon
I use my Galaxy S Captivate on AT&T and I'm satisfied. On the other hand, I don't pay the bill :v:
I convinced my parents to let me upgrade if I pay for everything (on my line anyway.) Planned on getting an android tablet eventually so I got the HTC Trophy. Windows phone is slick, as much as I love Android. Either way, happy to be in the smartphone crowd finally. No more shitty feature phone.
I've gotta ask. With HP's Touchpad going on sale for $100, how good of a deal is that? Is there any hope of potentially playing with it until it can run Android? And to complete the trilogy of questions, is there any Android tablet that can compete for $100?
http://techcrunch.com/2011/08/19/hp-issues-touchpad-liquidation-order-get-yours-now-for-100/ Techcrunch says a guy has Honeycomb on it, then it's likely.
I remember reading about a facepunch app, did it ever come to the marketplace?
I remember reading about a facepunch app, did it ever come to the marketplace?
There's no public API for Facepunch, no more keys are going out, and Overv won't let me release his app fixed. The short answer is wait on Overv to release an app or wait on Hexxeh and Garry to send me an API key. Wasn't it originally a honeycomb tablet anyhow, just changed to WebOS last minute after the palm acquisition?

My phone is really, really weird. If I listen to music or use apps or whatever my battery goes down like fuck, like 20% after listening to 3 songs or so. But if I restart the phone when the battery has gone down like that, the battery goes back up to what it was before I listened to the music. I am confused as hell.
Tried to calibrate the battery?
Yeah I did, once. But the problem is that I can't get the battery to more than 80%, shutting down the phone and charging doesn't help, having it on and charging it doesn't help.
