It's already out on Orange under the name 'Monte Carlo'.

Shit, bloody Orange changing names
I don't think they market them as ZTE devices in Britain do they?
Are there any apps people would suggest for Android as a root user, I've got SetCPU (I've set it to lower usage at 30% battery and when the screen is off) and I've got a few games, any other suggestions?
Adfree, Cifsmanager, Screenshot, etc.
Root is funny in that you really can't name when you use it, but the few times you do are really helpful.

GSII American lineup pictured
I think the T-Mobile one looks terrible, they destroyed the body.
In other news, the HTC Vigor is going to be an interesting device, longer but not as wide as the Inc 2, if a photo comparison is valid.

So at least we can bet on having qHD. Fingers crossed for 720p. The "leaked" specs were apparently faked or somesuch, but I'd love to hope that they hold true.

Nexus Prime stuff: The Google Nexus Prime recently showed up inside Verizon's headquarters and there are several rumors around the phone's screen size: some say 4.5 - 4.65 inches, some say around 5.2 inches. The display will be a 720p one with 720 x 1280 resolution according to hear-say and birds chirp about a Texas Instruments OMAP4460 dual-core processor running at 1.5GHz aided by a PowerVR SGX540 GPU.

Woah, I was just checking my local Fry's ad, and I saw "GALAXY S II i9100 Unlocked" for $700. I didn't realize they were in America yet!
I think the max size for phones are going to have to cap out at 5 inches, any more and it's really just a small tablet.

It's the international version with quad/penta-band 3G.
If you guys are wondering why there are a lot of apps in the market that people can't update, it's because of how the keystores work when you sign packages. If they can't update an app, 90% of the time they deleted the keystore, and can no longer sign update packages.
So my Dad just bought a Galaxy S2 and he has no idea what to do with it really. Obviously he knows that it's a phone and how to text, but he has no idea about apps in the slightest. I also want to try out a really graphical game on it, to see how good it looks. Anybody got any ideas? I wanted to try that NOVA, but couldn't find it on the app market and Samsung Apps says it is only for the Galaxy S1.
Hmm. If the Nexus Prime truly is coming to Big Red, it'll be the successor to my TBolt. Anybody else suspicious about the rumors around it? They sound kinda vague. Vaguer than most industry rumors.
Anyone got tips for making the Xperia X8 better performance-wise? It's rooted and running the latest kuyadroid flash.

Tell him it's like a computer.
"Dad the Market is like Steam, you can download and buy software for your phone and it will keep it updated if you tell it to"
"What's Steam?"
Well, fuck.

Titanium Backup. Creates a backup of all your apps in case you ever have to factory reset/install a new ROM. It also freezes apps which basically removes all trace of it on your phone but leaves the files intact.

Tell him to send it to somebody who actually wants one and can't afford it.

If only it'd restore all apps without having to approve reinstallation...for people who have dozens of them, it's beyond annoying.

Pro version doesn't do that.

Hmm. To the market!
Is there any way I can change the browser ID on my nexus S, without having to do anything too technical?
type in about: debug in the browser address bar, press menu key.

I thought it was kind of meh for design, but who knows.
Also, does anyone have any recommended settings for SetCPU on Nexus S?
Thinking of updating my galaxy tab from Android 2.2 to 2.3 in Samsung Kies.
A few questions -
Is it worth it? Is it risky? Do I lose apps / data when I do it?
If it has to touch a bootloader, it can hard-brick it. I would imagine that if it's flashing a new OS everything in certain partitions are wiped. Assume it wipes everything. If you get to keep your settings and applications, great. If not, you'll have to set it all up again.
I haven't seen any cool changes for CyanogenMod in ages so I haven't bothered to update, bleh.

I think I'll stick to kies...
[editline]28th August 2011[/editline]
Fuck me, not trusting kies again.
It completed downloading the update, then it says its starting to install. My tab then says something like "Downloading, Do not turn off Target!!!"
So I'm like ok it looks like it's going ok. Then my PC comes up and says "USB device drivers could not be found" and kies goes "cannot detect device" or some shit.
So there I am panicking my fucking brain out, so I thought the only thing I could do was unplug the tab and hold down to power to turn it off. I did that, then pressed the button to turn it on again...
And it started up! In my old version of android of course, but everything works fine. So relieved. Not fucking going to try that again.
My hands feel numb and I'm shaking, thought it was gonna end up bricked.

Yup, If you manage to break it, you can fix it easily
I have softbricked my phone four times, while flashing it
Now I have a perfect CM7 I9000
