The screenshot looks like homescreen setup or something. Way to make the UI look messy.

Thought this might be useful.
Also, Sprint America's GS2 release is September 16th, I think AT&T and TMobile are 18th
Anyone got any experience with SII cases? Thinking of getting this one, it looks really good.

Uh, the Transformer?
Yessir
I've heard that the Asus Transformer is very good. One of the facepunch members has done a kinda review of it here

I hate my life. I waited so long and no galaxy s 2. On verizon should I wait for the bionic or should I just pick up something I can grab at my local verizon store?
okay so I'm on sprint, I have a palm pre minus, and I probably will jump ship to android UNLESS somehow ios manages to get on sprint (unlikely) or a new hp webos phone comes to sprint (unlikely)
so, I want a sprint android phone that is completely touchscreen (no physical keyboard), and basically the first day I get it (within the first week of owning it) I want to root it...
I was looking at the evo4g (and I noticed that even if it's less than $30, it's too outdated) also, I DO NOT wanna buy the evo 3D.
then there's the motorola photon,
and the samsung galaxy s II seems to be what most of you like, but hell, I don't even know if it's on sprint or not, but my current phone's contract ends september 2012, so I have time for the phone to join sprint.
well.
any ideas on what phone I should get?
thanks..

Ugg. That sounds awesome, but it makes me wonder when I'm going to ever get a smartphone. I've been waiting 3 months now.
Well, it's been a long time coming, but you fine folks living in the good ol' U-S-of-A are finally getting blessed with Galaxy S IIs to call your own. Conspicuously missing from the party is Verizon, but Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T are all getting in on the Super AMOLED Plus action under the guise of the Epic 4G Touch on Sprint and just plain old Galaxy S II on AT&T and T-Mo. As we had heard earlier the Epic 4G Touch is sporting a slightly larger 4.52-inch screen as will the T-Mobile variant, while AT&T is sticking with the 4.3-inch panel found on the international model. Sprint customers will be first to get their shot at owning one on September 16th for $200, with AT&T and T-Mobile a little further down the road. Otherwise there are very few surprises here, with a 1.2GHz Exynos pushing Gingerbread and TouchWiz to each gorgeous screen. All are packing 16GB of internal storage and being pitched as 4G handsets -- with WiMax on board the Sprint model and HSPA+ for T-Mo and AT&T. Ma Bell's is specifically championing its variant as the "thinnest 4G smartphone," which might have something to do with the smaller 1650 mAh battery inside (the Epic 4G Touch is sporting an 1800 mAh pack). Check back soon for some hands-on.
Hands-on with AT&T's Galaxy S II

Here we have AT&T's Galaxy S II. But seeing as how AT&T's already done a 4.5-inch phone in the Samsung Infuse, it's chosen to scale things down just a smidge with its Galaxy S II. The display is a mere 4.3 inches. But it's made up for losing those two-tenths of an inch with the Super AMOLED Plus display. Side by side with the Samsung Infuse -- which we've come to love and cherish the past few months -- it's a noticeable difference. Blacks are blacker. Colors are more colorful. And where there were once only eight subpixels, there are now 12.
Otherwise, you're pretty much looking at the same ol' Galaxy S II, which is to say you're looking at the thinnest (8.89 mm), lightest smartphone you can find. And it's got AT&T's brand of 4G to boot. More specs? Let's switch to handy bullet point form.
4G – HSPA+
Android (2.3 Gingerbread)
GSM Quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz)
UMTS Tri-band( 850/1900/2100MHz)
Screen: 4.3” Super AMOLED Plus
Processor: 1.2Ghz x 2 (dual core)
Camera: 8MP AF with LED flash + 2MP front
Video Record: 1080p Full HD
HDMI Out: HDMI via HDTV Smart Adapter with HDCP
Connectivity: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0
Battery: 1650mAh
Sensor: Motion UX, 6-axis gyroscope, proximity, light, noise (Audience A2220)
In a word: Sexy. More pics are after the break.

There's always one kid who comes to class unprepared, and tonight it's T-Mobile. While AT&T and Sprint let us get our grubby hands all over their merchandise, T-Mobile kept their variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II under wraps (a glass cube, to be specific). Why, you ask? Well we did ask, and it appears that big T hasn't officially released full specs, a release date, or even a name for the device. No knock against T-Mobile, really, as we're firm believers in better late than never, especially when it means putting some final touches on an already stunning device.
And you can put money on it being in the same vein as all the other Galaxy S II devices -- with a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, TouchWiz, and all that jazz. One more pic to whet your appetite is after the break.
Though we couldn't put it though the paces, we did get to see it under the glass, and just like its brethren, it looks fantastic. This one, like Sprint's, has a 4.53 inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, which even under protection looks absolutely amazing. We're going to assume that performance is as buttery smooth as the rest of the line with that Exynos processor, though, like we said, we'll have to wait a little bit longer to prove it. T-Mobile says to expect more information in the coming weeks, while a representative told us to expect launch sometime in the Fall.

With the simultaneous launch of three Galaxy S II phones in one event, a family portrait is a given. Well, except T-Mobile decided that its variant isn't quite ready for the limelight just yet, so with that one we could only get a side-by-side shot with our very own European version outside the acrylic box. Anyhow, here you have it, the three "new" Galaxy devices plus their foreign cousin finally together, sort of.

If you've been wondering just when you'll be able to get Europe's hottest smartphone from last year, wonder no more: tonight the Samsung Galaxy S II was formally (and finally) announced for US release. Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T all will be receiving variants, with the first two getting a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, the AT&T unit being stuck with the same 4.3-inch display as the earlier GS II. In fact, the AT&T model looks indistinguishable from the European version that we compared it against, while the other two look a bit different.
Sprint's model, aka the Epic 4G Touch, has that larger 4.5-inch screen, plus a slightly more rounded profile than the AT&T model. The T-Mobile version, meanwhile, is the most rounded of the three, but otherwise we were hard-pressed to find any differences between 'em, as you can see in the video below. All are powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processors, 16GB of storage, eight megapixel webcams on the back, batteries that are said to be at least 10 percent larger than the previous version, and "4G" wireless -- either in the form of HSPA+ or WiMAX.
Only Sprint has announced formal pricing and availability, September 16th for $199, while the others will be available in the always ambiguous "soon."
Update: We got curious about those battery sizes and popped the backs off the two phones that we could get our hands on. The AT&T model has the exact same battery size as the European Galaxy S II (6.11Wh), while the Sprint version is indeed about 10 percent larger (6.66Wh). We presume the T-Mob one is bigger too, but that's locked up. In a box.
After this morning's jump-the-gun leak revealed everything there is to know about the Sprint Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, you probably have a pretty good idea of what the device has in store. Pictures speak louder than words, though, and until you see the Epic 4G Touch in the flesh, you only know half the story. It is an absolutely beautiful device that truly lives up to its name.
To refresh your memory, the Epic 4G Touch has got some major goodies under the hood:
4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus display
Ultra-thin (9.59mm) design
Samsung Exynos 1.2GHz dual-core processor
Wimax 4G radio
Media Hub
8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera
Social Hub
HD video recording
Samsung Kies Air
Wifi calling
NOVA 2 HD pre-loaded
Swype pre-loaded
AES-256 internal/external hardware encryption
Bluetooth 3.0
Sprint ID
Polaris Office
Hotspot controls up to eight devices
Android 2.3
Optional USB Host kit for connection keyboards, cameras, printers and thumb drives
Optional HDMI adapter
Multimedia and Car docks will be available
Performance on the Epic 4G Touch, from what we can tell, is top of the line. Hiccups are absent and switching between homescreens, opening apps, and multitasking is smooth as can be. And that 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus is worth the price of admission ($199 on contract) alone. Colors are crisp, blacks are deep, and viewing angles are superb. There isn't much to say until you see it with your own eyes. Wow. Oh, and one more cherry on top-- The Epic 4G bucks the trend with an LED notification light. A welcome addition to this new crop from Samsung.
Like the rest of the Galaxy S II line, the Epic 4G Touch is thin and incredibly light. It's got the patented Samsung plastic feel, but that has grown on us. Take a gander at the rest of the shots from this evening's event, which should hold you over until the device hits the market on September 16.
Hit the break for more photos.

As expected, T-Mobile has also announced their Galaxy S II tonight as well. We don't yet have all the details and specs, but we do have a statement from T-Mobile:
T-Mobile USA, Inc. is pleased to announce the upcoming availability of the Samsung Galaxy S™ II at T-Mobile this fall. Featuring a brilliant 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus touch screen – one of the largest screens available on a Galaxy S II device – T-Mobile’s Galaxy S II promises to keep customers entertained and connected while on the go. We look forward to sharing more information in the coming weeks.
Of course we're at the Samsung event in New York, covering it live. If any details come out, you can find them here!

HTC has a high-end Android handset on the way codenamed Runnymede; we first heard of this device a few weeks ago when it showed up in some EXIF data on a photo sharing site. Now we've received the full rundown on the features and specifications of Runnymede, which will be among the first phones to emerge from the collaboration between HTC and Beats Audio:
- Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread
- 4.7-inch, 480x800 display
- 1.5GHz single-core MSM8255 (same CPU as Flyer)
- 768MB of RAM / 16GB of storage
- Eight-megapixel / 720p rear-camera with dual flashes & 1.3-megapixel front-facing webcam
- under 10 millimeters thick
- Sense 3.5
- DLNA
- Bundled Beats headphones (not earphones)
While on the surface the specs here aren't cutting edge -- screen resolution, processor speed, RAM, and video capture are all bested by other handsets on the market -- it's the details that make Runnymede sound like a winner. The camera, for instance, is said to feature a backlit sensor plus 28mm wide-angle lens and focal ratio of f/2.2 (compared to the iPhone 4's smaller f/2.8); in video mode, it can supposedly capture footage at 60 frames-per-second, more than twice that of the average handset. Obviously sound quality will also play a big role here, with Runnymede featuring SRS Surround, dual microphones, and even recognizing when it's plugged into the Beats headphones.
Apparently Runnymede will ship in time for the holidays, although carrier adoption is still a mystery. Assuming Eternity launches in the same timeframe, both Android and Windows Phone fans will have a 4.7-inch HTC handset to choose from before the end of the year.
Quite a few of us on FP have an Asus Transformer (myself included), I don't think anyone has found anything major to complain about and I most certainly haven't. Korjax's review is pretty accurate.
It enables some features you couldn't get other way, like taking screenshots, deleting pre-installed apps, backing up and restoring your apps, and just changing your settings in a way you can't do officially. Sadly, I don't know how to root Samsung devices.
I suggest you read these guides:

just fixing some S2 specific information: Screenshot capability is built-in the S2, by pressing Menu and the Power/Lock key
Guys just a FYI
LG's VIP 24 hour service lasts 7 days. At least it did for me.
Silly me thinking 24 hours was just one day and one night.

Drop it and it falls apart.
I got a Galaxy S 2 this week, I'm having a problem with the default browser. Today at Uni they connected me to the uni-wireless (it needs you to change port and proxy) and that all went fine, but coming home I was no longer able to connect the default browser to the internet. I removed the port and proxy details but still no luck. I have checked the setting that appears on the list when you click the power button, I have made sure I'm connected (I can still download and use online apps for example), but no luck with the browser. Anyway I downloaded Opera Mini, but I have a deal on my carrier (Vodafone Australia $45 infinite plan) that says I can use Facebook etc. infinitely, no download charges. I'm wondering whether it will still be unmetered if I use Opera or if I have to use the default browser?
So I just downloaded Dolphin browser. It's pretty nice but oh god Blade is slow as hell while loading or writing on FP
I've found that Dolphin LAAAAAAAAAAGS even with fast phones.
I've found that Dolphin LAAAAAAAAAAGS even with fast phones.
What should I use then?
Opera
Opera
This, Miren, or the stock browser.
I've found that Dolphin LAAAAAAAAAAGS even with fast phones.
Dolphin didn't really lag for me, but I didn't like it that much, so I'm sticking with Opera.
Dolphin works great on my HD2.
Dolphin didn't really lag for me, but I didn't like it that much, so I'm sticking with Opera.
There are enough complaints about Dolphin for having random freezes/lag that I wouldn't really recommend it.
[editline]31st August 2011[/editline]
If it works for you then that's good. Most are all just WebKit based anyway.
SGP cases are top quality. Worth the expensive prices imo.

Drop it and it falls apart.
Hmm? It certainly does look top quality. What do you base that on Xera
The case design is nothing new, see Casemate Tough and I think Otterbox Commuter cases for what is the exact same thing, perhaps a bit bulkier, but I think it helps with actually holding onto the damn phone, seeing as how it's so thin.
[editline]31st August 2011[/editline]
That and in general I prefer it when phones avoid having any exposed silicone, it makes for a gigantic lint magnet.
