Fastest consumer internet available in Lithuania (?)

I just read an article how there are tons of fiber lines where I live but our stupid politicians are too fucking lazy to get off their fat asses and make them accessible to costumers. :argh:
It's (as always) worse in Germany, where they started to lay out fiber lines years ago, praised them as THE EVOLUTION OF TELEPHONY and there still isn't any FTTH there and you can't even get DSL via these lines. So those who still have old copper lines even get better service.
Here at Finland I have 8Mbps but could have that 200Mbps if I move downtown.
The fastest I can get at the moment is 10Mbps, but that's because I live in a forest, outside of town and in a private house. But generally, many people have fibre optic lines and the ISP is working to connect even more buildings.
I'm stuck with 1.5mb/s.
d' fuck this isn't "POST YOUR CONNECTION" thread
i get 800 k/b dl speed and 100 up
and we pay like $50 a month....
Pay for 1, getting 6 here.
If a small country like Lithuania can get speeds like that then there is literally no reason whatsoever that the fastest speeds that most people can get in the UK is just 20mb. In cities you can get 50mb but it's expensive shit. They're planning a 100mb infrastructure but it isn't fast enough dammit. The Tories are also saying that they are going to roll out 100mb fiber across the country if they get in.
Circa 2017, and by that time 100mb/s will just be the new dialup. Lithuania, Sweden, Japan and Korea will all have 10gb lines in 2017 :saddowns:
The ISPs in the UK are decent when it comes to investing, but they are just too slow.
Once the fibre is in place for 100Mbit to all, then all that has to be upgraded is exchange hardware and the hardware at your house. No more digging up roads will be necessary, so upgrades will be easier.
England sucks for broadband. Even when we have the chance to do something about it we fail. I'm on 0.5Mbit and BT recently installed a new fibre cabinet but won't let me use their service because they don't think I can get a minimum 15Mbit (they predict 13.6Mbit - this new service is VDSL2, which can do over 50Mbit at my distance) so I'm stuck on this heap of shit. We'll never get anywhere like this. I'm fucking sick of it really, being left behind on half a megabit broadband when up the road there's a shiny new cabinet that I could use ready to deliver 30x faster broadband.
The government should abolish this 15 megabit minimum requirement on BT's new service if they actually want everybody to have 2Mbit by 2012.
Pay for 1, getting 6 here.
What.
What.
Translation:
I am paying for 1Mbps, but for some reason I'm getting speeds of up to 6Mbps.
And here I'm paying 30€/mo for 8mbit with 1mbit upload

what that is the entire reason it can get fast networking, everything is close together and upgrading it is cheaper and easier

Seriously, I'm annoyed by what's available. When I look for an apartment/house in the not-so-recent future, I'm going to be looking at internet speeds available so I don't get my hobby ruined.
Hahah, Hughesnet. Notice the $300 equipment charges and $60 a month for 100 KB/s...
...Which is what I used to have. :saddowns:
So Lithuania has better internet than Canada
how nice
Paying for 10, getting 3
Are you mixing up Mb/MB
megabits vs. megabytes
8 megabits = 1 megabyte
In Sweden it is possible to get a gigabit line.
In Sweden it is possible to get a gigabit line.
As for wherever google decides to deploy their lines.
paying 60$ for a 16mbit connection. Only getting 8mbit they say. But experiencing 4.7mbits.
Fucking bullshit.
Thing is, that 200Mbit is probably gonna be country-wise, and then my scandinavian 50/50Mbit is still better than yours.
We should email our ISPs about this
I mean seriously, If Lithuania has it, why are we stuck on 10mb/s?
Because companies want money, it cost money to upgrade and they're to busy cashing in on high prices for sub-par internet speeds.

He said 80mbit internationally, didn't he?
Owned

I live in roseville, california. It's one of the few places to get FIBER, am I right? $39 a month for those speeds or they even offer 50/50 for $100 a month. The best internet provider in America (to residents, not businesses) at the moment I would say before google puts in their super fast 1 gb lines.
[editline]09:06AM[/editline]
They are even thinking of putting in 100/100 for about $200 a month.
