I'd say just get some older generation decent card used somewhere. Like a 7870 or something
You do realize that you're in the server thread, right? A 7870 in a server would be a hilarious waste of energy. The motherboard in my server has no integrated video either, so I went on ebay and bought the cheapest video card with a built in VGA port. I think it was $15 or something for the Radeon X800 that I ended up getting. I don't think it has rendered anything more difficult than the Server 2012 R2 desktop since it was put in, I can't even remember if I installed the video drivers or not.
Oh wow Thought this was the Questions thread
Well I decided I officially hate xenserver. moving to esxi
Nothing wrong with XenServer you just need to know how to use it.
Oh wow Thought this was the Questions thread
I was wondering how there could possibly be 20 new posts in this thread :v:
Nothing wrong with XenServer you just need to know how to use it.
Then mind helping me figure it out? I was having an issue with vm internet connection. I have two NICs in my server but only 1 is connected. Obviously this port is used by xen management with an IP. However, I do have 2 ips. Is there anyway that I can use both IPs on that 1 NIC? I tried adding both IPs, but none of the VMs would connect to the internet and occasionally I would lose connection to the server in Xencenter.
Got a Nexus 7 and a bluetooth keyboard for Christmas. Today I hooked it up to my Cisco lab: *edited with better pic*

I've wanted one but wasn't sure of what kind to get.
That's awesome. What keyboard is that? I've wanted one but wasn't sure of what kind to get.
It's a GE "bluetooth keyboard". It's not built for any specific device, but the box has a compatibility list for certain specialty keys like home, cmd, search, etc. http://www.amazon.com/GE-Bluetooth-Wireless-Keyboard-98618/dp/B00FQZVFRQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1388512413&sr=1-1&keywords=ge+bluetooth+keyboard
Our first batch of 10 litecoin miners, each with four R9 280X cards Yes they're in the conf room until we provision the rackspace heh [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/MSBj9g7.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
Who do you work for and how did you convince them to do that.
0/10 not dogecoin miners would not cryptocurrency
Who do you work for and how did you convince them to do that.
I can't take credit for the purchase, it was my bosses idea. I just set them up. This is our "test run". If all goes smoothly we will be ordering 50-100 more and potentially offer a specialized litecoin mining service.
Holy shit. That's a lot of power there. 50-100? Does your company shit gold?
Holy shit. That's a lot of power there. 50-100? Does your company shit gold?
I wish :v: With all the physical servers we've been converting to virtual lately, we have more power available The entire DC is only at about half capacity right now, so we have room to grow

Why not go with 7900 series cards or Nvidia cards, especially if you're going to put them in a server room where temps will peak?
Why did you use those heaters? Why not go with 7900 series cards or Nvidia cards, especially if you're going to put them in a server room where temps will peak?
IIRC, R9 series cards are known to be significantly better for mining.

I'm looking around newegg to upgrade my Core 2 Quad / 8GB DDR2 Hyper-V server and I'm curious. What reasons are there to buy a Xeon E3-1220V3 over a similarly priced i5?
It's hyperthreaded and can use ECC memory, I believe. [editline]2nd January 2014[/editline] We use 1230V2's in all our rendering machines at work.

Both are still a decent jump in performance from my C2Q, though AMD is a lot cheaper. That said, I won't be doing this for a few more months anyway, so everything could change.
R9 series have the best litecoin hash-to-price ratio in terms of consumer GPU's
Interesting, how do you plan on cooling them though?
We just bought 24 of these.

dual
Interesting, how do you plan on cooling them though?
Mainly by staggering them throughout low-temp locations around the datacenter as opposed to putting all of them in one condensed area.
Dell are among the better manufacturers of enterprise hardware...
Oh, hm. Must've confused it with another manufacturer. Thinking about it again, I could see that, considering my dad's Latitude laptop had no issues at all over the period of a year now, yet my mom's Inspiron got a blue screen and got screwed over a couple times. :v:
