FYI if anybody needs mounting brackets for Cisco equipment, let me know. We're cleaning out our datacenter and we literally have boxes and boxes of them, lots of different kinds. I'll send some to you as long as you cover the cost of shipping.
Geographically, where are you?
Ebay has given me nothing but trouble in the past. Don't they take over 10% of the sale? Oh gosh, they're just throwing servers out. There's three old ProLiants just sitting there. If we didn't have an asset DB I'd consider taking them.
Can you not just ask for them if they are just getting thrown away / recycled? Say you are starting up some community project or something!

If he thinks you're just gonna sell them on ebay obviously he'd be hesitant. Obligatory "I have no idea what i'm doing" probably one of my favorite racks from work (aka the least cluttered)
There's a few things in the pipeline re my home servers at the moment - I'm moving from Citrix Xen to VMWare and making some significant changes to the network. In the meantime here's a picture of my Cisco Lab - not really servers but it's along the right lines...
Can I ask how you're using 3 console ports? Do you use COMM to USB adapters?
Can I ask how you're using 3 console ports? Do you use COMM to USB adapters?
They run the patch panel at the top, just makes it a little easier to switch between the devices with a console cable.
Dyslexic doesn't mean illiterate though right?
Now you're also attacking me to amuse yourself. You guys just don't stop, I don't have the patients for this. I missed something, big fucking deal. First it was the USB 3.0 question, now this. Whatever, I hate you as much as you hate me.

How about you just admit you fucked up instead of getting pissed off and trying to use your dyslexia as an excuse? You're only further digging yourself into a hole. Oh, and no one is playing "Mind Games" (Do you even know what that means?) No one was laughing...
Not servers but server related, one of the network racks at my work.

How much and what model, assuming it's not custom made.
I couldn't tell you, I swapped it out for a larger cab at work and it was surplus to requirements. I can tell you it would have been cheap, it's 9U I think. eBay is a probably the best place to go, search for "black data cab" and you'll probably find something similar.

Somewhat expensive mistake. 128GB Samsung 830 No RAID because budget.
Beginning to get things migrated to ESXI
So I ended up taking some pictures of my server as I had to open it up. Picture: here Bigger: here PSU: Antec NeoPower 650W Blue (yes it glows, and it's sexy god damnit) Motherboard: GA-990XA-UD3 CPU: Phenom X4 955 Memory: 8GB G.Skill DDR3 Hard drives: WD Green, 4x2TB WD20EARS-00M in RAID10 Hard drives: WD Green, 2x1TB WD10EADS-00L in RAID1 Fans: Noctua for the 120mm, Arctic Cooling for the CPU. You literally cannot hear this server function. The hard drives emit noise, the rest doesn't. NIC: Integrated realtek garbage, but it works. OS: Debian 6.0.7 (amd64) Upcoming work includes, depending on time and money: - replacing the memory by ECC sticks - new case for expansion (this one rattles a bit) - replacing my two 1TB drives with 2TB ones and integrating those into one RAID10 - putting VMs on a 2nd NIC and leaving only hypervisor on main. - adding a serial console so I do not need to put in a video card every time I need to do maintenance that requires keyboard and monitor
