Restart all of your network equipment, if you're torrenting is your upload being saturated?
Is anyone in the house saturating the internet?
Can you retest everything when it isn't peak time like 3am-6am?
If you've done everything I'd call up your ISP at that point.
I have restarted my router.
I have noticed the torrent has slowly climbed to between 1mb/s & 2mb/s. Climbed really slowly though, dont know why that would be or how that links to my apparently really ihgh latency.
I had this problem last night until about 3am as well.
I have FX 8350:
Do i need these two installed?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2646060
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2645594
Also I don't think I ever installed chipset drivers, would that affect my performance?
Sorry if I sound stupid.
So I have a sound card that has to go right in front of my graphics card (due to the limited amount of PCIe on this motherboard). It blocks one of the fans. My CPU is idling at 44, my motherboard at 35, and my GTX 980 at 64. Is this the cause?
I want to fix it, but there is an issue. This case/sound card came together with the prebuilt that this case originally housed. The sound card is attached by wires to the case, there is no connector that I can detach. Is there any way I can fix this? Can I use the connectors on I/O of my motherboard?
Considering the GTX 900 series shut off their fans whenever the temperature goes below 60C, I highly doubt your sound card is the cause of the problem. You should check your GPU's usage and see if it's still at a high percent even when idling. It might mean you have a Bitcoin mining virus.
I am considering to switch to the dark side and swap my AMD CPU to Intel.
But is it possible to get decent Intel CPU that will outperform FX 8350 for 300 Eur? (Including Mobo in price) ?
Or should I just get AMD FX 9590 Black Edition without bothering to change Motherboard?

The 9000 series is a complete waste of money, they're just higher binned 8xxx series with a larger TDP put in. But with how long they've been manufacturing those exact chips, all the kinks are out and 90% of chips are going to be great quality chips.

So Intel or 9590? If Intel then which one?

4690k for great gaming.
So I'm looking at a general overall upgrade for my current system. I was wondering what the most cost effective upgrades would be, to get me back up to snuff.
CPU:AMD Phenom II X6 1075T Thuban 45nm Technology
GPU: Geforce 760
RAM: 16 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 803MHz (10-10-10-27)
MOBO: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 (AM3)
Yeah i would probably just replace the CPU, and see how far that gets you. Replacing the GPU probably isn't needed, unless you want to max out recent games.
If you already have a good cooler/PSU you could get a FX-8350. Else just go for Intel hardware. You need to replace your mobo either way.
You have the best CPU that your current motherboard can take.
You could look at getting a i5-4460+H97 motherboard, that would bring it up to good spec.
Really depends on your budget+what games you are running.
Less than 500 dollars for the total upgrade is what I'm looking at.
I actually have an FX 8350 sitting around. I bought it a while back when I was going to upgrade, but discovered my mobo didn't support it and just never had the cash.
Already have a FX-8350?
2 seconds pay attention to this post
you could do other general upgrades as well
just post what you else you'd like unless you just want to get the motherboard

i included the cooler cause stock coolers are trash for keeping temps down under gaming loads doesn't matter if its AMD or the Intel one.
[editline]1st February 2015[/editline]
if you wanted to go the intel route and not use the fx-8350
you could do this
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Gb8XYJ
but the cheapest is using that fx-8350 and getting that fx990 motherboard
I appreciate it! Thanks!
So I got a budget of 50 pounds for A mouse and keyboard
Something for gaming would be nice....
Any advice would be really appreciated
4690k for great gaming.
Does that outperform 8350?
Can somebody explain voltages to me? I mean I am complete noob at them that's why I can't overclock a shit because the way I see it the more volts you add the faster hardware works? But I know I can easily fry my hardware without understanding voltage.
How do people know what are stock/normal voltages for CPU, Ram and GPU and which are not? are they like generalized?
Are my voltages okay?
Does that outperform 8350?
In single-threaded applications (most games), power consumption, and temperature, yes. So basically, where everything really counts, Intel beats out AMD when it comes to CPUs.

What about video editing + 3D Rendering?
Mate is poor console player, wants to invest though after I showed him the light.
Poor console player with puny budget too, I doubt I can convince him to go much over £650
He is looking for a PC that will play heavy duty games, specifically Arma/DayZ and various other AAA titles all on 'decent' (medium/high quality) settings for a few years.
So far I have come up with this, what do you reckon about this build.
Note: 2133 ram because Arma gets a significant boost from higher speed ram.
i5-4690k (Potentially will overclock in future but for now 3.5 should suffice)
Asus Z97-k LGA1150 ATX (only familiar with the Maximus boards, hoping the sound card and wifi on this board is okay)
Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case
Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (concerned about the Wattage)
Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer
[editline]1st February 2015[/editline]
£490 for all that, then trying to persuade him to get a 960 but looks like he might go for the 750ti
What about video editing + 3D Rendering?
For those kinds of programs that benefit greatly from having more cores available, the 8350 beats the 4690K. But in a situation like that, I would recommend going for an i7-4790K instead, because then you get the extra threads while still getting Intel's great power efficiency and cooler temperatures.
I'm looking to upgrade my gaming laptop I bought quite a few years ago, either a new graphic card or a new CPU (or both)
GPU: GeForce GTX 660M
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
Any suggestions?

You are probably stuck with what you have. The CPU is already pretty good and your GPU most likely can't be swapped out.

Laptops can't be upgraded in the same way as a desktop PC. The chips are usually soldered into place, and even if you could remove them, finding a replacement part is incredibly difficult and expensive. You can always buy a new laptop or a desktop PC though.
Anyone thinks I could salvage decent Intel CPU and some cheap motherboard if I sell:
FX 8350 (With box :V:)
M5A97 R2.0 (With box)
Nexus 7 2013 (With box)
I am poor as fuck right now but I want to play games somewhat nice without having CPU bottleneck my GPU.
I'm replacing a broken CPU cooler fan on a co-workers old gaming computer (it has dual BFG Geforce 7600 GT OC) and now that I've got the fan fixed I noticed it has a disk read errror and when I try using the drives in my computer it only shows one and it says I need to format it.
The guy says it worked fine a month ago other then the fan error but his wife stored it in shed out in the cold since then. Could the cold have fucked the drives?
Also as I'm typing this, the larger of the 2 drives that are currently plugged in my computer is getting quite warm and the other one is kinda too
My internet as come to a standstill.
I pay for 40MB down and 10MB up, usually sits around 37/9.
Last night it got too laggy to play FIFA, and I cant even join Arma games.
Used speedtest and got results 20down 4up. Not great but still shouldnt be getting problems.
Currently downloading a popular torrent seed at 40kb/s, id usually be getting about 2mb/s.
Xbox tells me I have 500 latency whilst speedtest tells me I have between 30/50 ping
The way speedtest tests your internet is unrealistic and will always give you results that you're not actually getting. In a nutshell, it multi-thread downloads, while all other downloads on the internet are linear. Testmy.net is a much better way of testing real world actual speeds.
So yesterday I got android 5.0 for my galaxy s5
And after I got that my mobile network wont work. I have not had the time to call my mobile operator and I have not found anyone else with this problem. I can still make calls, send texts and wifi
But does anyone have any idea or heard anything about this?
For some reason I can't disable my laptop mic and my ZM1 isn't being listed under my Recording devices.
Yes, I can see disabled/disconnect devices. Any help?
The ZM1 still works, but after I disconnect it, my laptop mic becomes active.
I'm using a Realtek board by the way.

How much is his budget? If he has a desktop computer that's going to be replaced then would he be able to carry over any parts to help save costs (hard disk drive, optical drive, RAM ...etc)?
Stupid question, I'm looking to get some RAM and I can find cheaper 1600mhz than 1333mhz sticks, will they work on a mobo that claims to support up to 1333mhz? And get downclocked to that, I assume.

Yes, that's how it's supposed to work.
Anybody got any tips on how to improve this build?
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gN4F3C
Got coolers in reserve, cant go over $1500.
