Can GPU damage any components? I have slight sagging on my 970 and don't think it'll be an issue but was just wondering. Also, going back to my other question, my monitor is offset on each side it seems like and no amount of repositioning through Nvidia's Control Panel can I get it to center correctly. No matter what I do it's always off by a couple pixels on each side. If I get one side lined up perfectly, the other three aren't.
Alright got a weird question here, has to do with audio. So I got these speakers, right? I want to get a thing so that there are two inputs and a switch, so I can switch between which signal they output from. One input is from the standard circular audio jack like on headphones, but the other is the audio from an hdmi cable. Here's where it gets weird, though. The video from that hdmi has to go somewhere else, so I can't just slap some sort of converter on the end. So basically I need three things, one that can seperate the audio and video from an hdmi source, one that can convert that audio to the circular audio jack, and one that can switch between two of those circular jacks as inputs and output them to the same speaker system thing. Can anybody help me out here please? Does anybody even understand what I'm trying to say? I know I worded it poorly.
That monoprice HDMI to HDMI + analog audio converter plus a 3.5mm switch plus a male-to-male (M/M) 3.5mm cable (or two) would probably do it - just connect the two inputs to "A/B" and the speakers to "I/O". Wiring the 3.5mm switch up yourself would be ezpz and save a lot of money, too. The video wouldn't be affected at all unless the input is HDCP protected because it's a splitter, so it acts as a pass-through. You can, of course, find cheaper examples of the HDMI audio splitter switch on Amazon and so on.
are there any good free programs that make the taskbar on other monitors their own taskbars other than AMM? AMM started acting weird on windows 10 for me

If it does, just use that to get RCA or 3.5mm audio, and run it to a regular analog splitter.
How much data an I write to a 1TB SSD before it "dies"?
How much data an I write to a 1TB SSD before it "dies"?
Depends on what the exact model is (look for "drive writes per day", then multiply by length of the warranty), but I'd be very surprised if a modern 1TB SSD can't survive a petabyte.
In my laptop my battery is at 0% and it refuses to charge. I've tried redoing the drivers, and pulling the battery out and putting it back in. Is it fucked, or is there something else I haven't tried? It's only like 5 months old, so it'd be quite a shame if it was dead.
Is buying a Noctua NF-F12 PWM fan as a replacement fan for my Cooler Master Hyper T4 a good idea? The PWM fan that this heatsink came with is giving me higher temperatures than when I bought it so it might be time for a replacement.

A friend of mine started his pc up today and could not get past the login screen (windows 7), he just gets a blue screen after that. He tried safe mode and still couldn't get any further. Then he went into his bios and it looked like this: [t]https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t34.0-12/12030831_1022280807782041_1493927177_n.jpg?oh=67ea89cf4dc1908ca574d09c993fbf9d&oe=5600AE49[/t] Anyone have any idea on what could be broken? He opened his pc and didn't see anything unusual. He's sending it for repairs tommorrow, but maybe one of you guys knows what's up.
I want to completely wipe my PC, what's the best way to backup my drivers before doing so? I managed to fix it , but I fucked myself over with my laptop because I had to manually find the drivers for ages using hardware ID's and a separate PC due to missing wifi drivers.

That's the easiest way, I'm not sure if you can really back them up once they're installed.
I don't suppose you kept the installers? That's the easiest way, I'm not sure if you can really back them up once they're installed.
Anyway I can see every driver installed so I can go grab the installers?

is it bad when video ram goes over 100%? I never had this issue till I upgraded to 10
I have 2gb of video ram on this 760
Rust, Halo Online and ARK: Survival Evolved. Rust did that one that time, first one It was Halo Online, and Ark was showing that 130% during that free weekend on PlayClaw [editline]21st September 2015[/editline] Loving 4tb of Video Ram I have now, going to edit every texture ever in Rage uncompressed texture mod, at the same time.
Rust is doing the same thing but not by a dramatic amount. I'm gonna say I'm clueless.
Oh, another issue I have with those games, which dunno how I forgot, is that they shoot up 99% GPU usage at all times. Only really those games. But it only seems to be a problem in Halo Online, but that was a game that wasn't suppose to be modded like it is to work.
This has been quite the annoyance, if I right click on Steam I can't see any of the recently played games, or any menus. Any ideas?
Is the Corsair Air 240 worth the price? I might need a roomier case for my new CPU Cooler.
What's the current best $150-$200 GPU? I don't want to go Nvidia because I want DX12. [editline]22nd September 2015[/editline] The R7 370 looks good.

There's just a single portion of it that maxwell isn't as good at. [editline]22nd September 2015[/editline] But the 370 is a pretty good card. 380 would be a better choice. I also really don't want to support nvidia's business practices overall, they're shady as fuck. Is it really important to have 4GB VRAM now? I haven't been keeping up to date with GPUs for a while.

I haven't been keeping up to date with GPUs for a while.
id say yea if you play at 1440p+ I've been playing mgs5 at 1440p and it regularly hovers around 4-4.5 gb VRAM usage reported by GPU Z. At 1080p it would use about 3 gb.
I agree with that sentiment. And if you're playing at 1080p, 4gb of VRAM is definitely recommended. I'd suggest stretching your budget to the 4gb MSI or XFX 380 if you can.
Alright, thanks guys.
if you want you could stretch your budget a bit and buy a 290 the powercolor variant is like $230 atm after a 20 dollar rebate correct me if im wrong but iirc the 300 series is just rebranded 200 series cards with more vram on some models
Alright, heres my dilemma. I also posted this in the Mac/Apple thread, just to see what those guys would say. I'm a Junior in College (3rd year) and for the last two years I have been using Microsoft Word 2011 that I purchased with a keycode card when I bought my macbook two years ago. Now that Microsoft Word 2016 has come out, I decided to upgrade. However, I have been using the notebook layout on Microsoft Word to take notes in class and keep them organized and seperate and all that good stuff. Now with the new update, they have done away with my notebook layout and replaced it with the dedicated OneNote program. I hate OneNote, and I hate that it wants to put all my notebooks on the cloud. Its hard to explain my filing system, but I have it just the way I like it and I don't like the way OneNote does it. I know I can find another note-taking software out there, and I was really thinking about CPN4. Heres the link:http://www.circusponies.com/ I really like most everything about it, and it looks like an actual notebook, which is one of the things I loved about taking notes with Word 2011. I did discover today that installing Word 2016 did not delete my copies of Word 2011, so I could just delete Word 2016 and keep on using Word 2011. However, I wanted to know from you guys if I am even missing anything by not using Word 2016. Also, if it helps, CPN4 is a permanent liscence, so I get to use it as long as I own a Macbook (which will probably be forever because I'm going into education). My Microsoft Office liscence expires in June of 2017. So my question to you guys is: What should I do?
how would I go about doing a full disk encryption when I triple boot between Arch Linux, Windows 10 and OS X Yosemite? the bootloader I use is Clover if that's required to know before suggesting anything
[t]http://i.imgur.com/hcTxgoI.png[/t] What happened to the properties bar in Windows 10? Where it would show details about my file like length, size, resolution etc. It makes editing photos a lot harder when I don't know if I'm opening a .CR2 file or a .Jpeg
