Well with finding a good PC with I5 on ibuy: http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gamer-Paladin-D837 I think I might have found my pre-built.
There are a few things I noticed that I want to ask. Some things were crossed out like
8GB DDR3-[del]1600[/del] 2133 Memory
and [del]24X DVDRW[/del] LG Blu-ray Re-writer
Should I be concerned, what do they mean?
What does "MSI Z97 G45 Gaming MB" mean?
It's honestly a waste of money for that build over the B85 one. Do the configuration I put out, you can even upgrade to 16gb of RAM for free over the 8gb. Forgot to put that in.

The strikethroughs probably mean they upgraded from the base model. Both of those are improved over what was crossed out (DDR3-2133 is faster than DDR3-1600, a BD drive is better than a DVD drive).
MSI Z97 G45 Gaming MB is the motherboard model. Which you can look up to find out stuff like what ports will be on the back, and it's useful to know if you plan to upgrade it later.

It's good to go, just make the changes I listed out.

Thanks, after this I'm gonna head to bed and rest. Thank you all for the help.

Also does the difference between i5's matter or no?
I feel I'm asking silly "ULTRA GAMER PC" questions, but to be fair it's only because I know bugger all about deeper specs beyond "bigger number = better".
Does anyone have a recommendation for a $250 or less laptop for a non-power user? A student friend of mine is super poor and she needs something kinda quick
How does this make sense?
in Far Cry 4:
MSAA AA modes give me 55 fps while SMAA gives me 70 fps even though it's supposed to be better.
I probably have no idea how graphics settings work.
SMAA rocks compared to MSAA in Far Cry 4 (looks to me like it anyway and gives better performance, so it's a win to win situation)
When my new rig comes in, I'm gonna have to get rid of my old ancient rig.
What should I do with it? Is there a place I could take it to, or is it just garbage?
I'm having some trouble playing 1080p mkv videos (they keep skipping and lagging). I have installed CCCP and tried using MPC, MPCHC, MPCBE, VLC, tried all the googlable solutions and nothing works. This started happening only after formatting and reinstalling windows. Anyone know what could be causing it?
[editline]10th October 2015[/editline]
nvm, CCCP was causing it. huh.
Right, I'm completely stumped on this one. I cannot pin point it down to any application but sometimes when I shutdown my PC I hear the critical stop sound, and it is driving me insane. On the odd occasion a message pops up for a nano-second before the pc shutdown so I'm unable to see what it says.
I've enabled all programs on startup, disabled everything on startup, cycled through them one by one but every time it seems to be random whether I hear the sound or not.
I've been in event viewer and the only log which stands out is Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection, Network Link is disconnected. Could this be the one causing the error sounds?
I've done full system scan with avira and malwarebytes, which came up all clean and the latest windows update is KB3093266. Browsing a few other forums it seems I'm not the only one, some have mentioned to do sfc /scannow, which I did, but it found no fault. I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue as I, or knows of any ideas or solutions?
are you running skype when you shut it down?
ive had that on systems 8.1 and onwards
No, I haven't installed skype. The only programmes I've used are firefox, steam (inc. steam games), microsoft office, avira, malwarebytes and calculator. That's it.
i think avira did this to me but then I replaced it with avast because ads were too annoying.
I'll give uninstalling avira a go, and I'll let you guys know if the error sounds still persist.
The avira ads aren't as bad as they used to be now, only a little ad pops up once every few days. It's a shame if avira is causing the issue because I quite liked it.
Is there some VR-related megathread? Where should I look for some development stuff regarding VR?
Besides from like Node on YT.. They got a lot of cool stuff though, watching VR Archery right now lol.
Really interested at that movement box they got, but it eats a lot of space damn, average player doesn't have a studio around them.
And really really curious how they're going to solve the movement for games like Star Citizen or any future shooting&running games notably, but for a whole range of other games and gametypes, they sure got that covered.
Also, are 3rd person games out of the question with VR lol? Because you could make it work, but dunno.
I don't think this is thread-worthy so I'mma just drop this here
is there a way to disable currently installed anti-virus programs? None of them seem to have a simple "off" button (understandably) but I want to check out some other programs I don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall my current one.

Would be funny if windows reset it's resolution
Would be funny if windows reset it's resolution
That's not the problem, resolutions are correct, the text itself is blury.

You have tried plugging the monitor back in yeah?
You have tried plugging the monitor back in yeah?
Yeah.
Solved it by fucking 50 times around with custom resolutions in nvidia control panel.
Is there any reason why this happens? Playing Warframe in this case, sometimes temperatures go...

Other times, it goes up to 85ºC..

I'm already gonna get a CPU cooler and thermal paste but, how come it sometimes doesn't go super hot? :v:?
I have an old i5 750. It's currently overclocked to 3003MHz. But when I check HWMonitor:

Why is HWMonitor telling me I have these crazy clock speeds?
My computer is powered off, but I swear to God it sounds like my hard drive is making mechanical noises like it's active.
It's 5AM,I should be asleep but I'm having trouble again. I'm pretty damn sure it's an auditory hallucination or the building is creaking or SOMETHING, but is there possibly aby sort of feature my WD Black is doing in an otherwise power off state, like a low power SMART test or something?
ok, it's now 6am and the noise has changed from hard drive to Wraith whispering to distant power tools
i am definitely having audio hallucinations, mystery solved
I'm making a game and I want to start some beta testing soon. My game collects analytics information and combines it all into a single file, and I want to have my game automatically upload it to a server.
Is it possible to run a simple server for that off a windows 7 or 10 laptop? If so, does anyone have any links explaining how to do it?
Which direction do stock intel cpu fans blow?
Which direction do stock intel cpu fans blow?
down into the heatsink
Would it reduce dust in my PC if I installed these?
Would they raise temps because of blocking air?
i think avira did this to me but then I replaced it with avast because ads were too annoying.
I've finally fixed the fucking bleeping issue, I'm over the moon. Luckily it wasn't Avira.
In short, I looked back into the Event Viewer logs and I saw an event error for e1iexpress which related to Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection.
I went into control panel uninstalled Intel(R) Network Connections, restarted, went to the Intel's website and found the latest driver for 82579V. Updated that, went back into Device Manager > Network Adapters > Update Driver Software. Went into properties, disabled the checkbox 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'
Done. No more fucking error sounds when I shut down.
I came to realize I need new case asap.
This case is about 5-6 years old, I got it from guy who was willing to swap his monitor + PC for my old laptop. (The only thing that remained from his PC is case and OCZ modular power supply.
I feel like I've just patched up a ship.

Is this ATX or small ATX or something? I mean I can't even fit corsair h100i fully into it.
Kinda ashamed PC has power but shit looks :<
Also that cross and weird unexplained drilled holes are just something he was doing to it.
