So on the underside of my laptop (Lenovo Y50-70) there is this weird thing that I don't really know if is blocking the airflow. And over time it seems to have become a bit dustier, or something.
This is it

Wouldn't that be a dust filter?
Wouldn't that be a dust filter?
Yes, but it restricts airflow quite a bit.

Yeah but it does feel like air doesn't properly pass.
Also, it gets surprisingly hot when I use Ubuntu Gnome
My very very hacky method that people say shouldn't work
I make a partition on a drive, and lead it with a boot image
Somehow, my motherboard picks it up

Apparently I have to make a special partition with unallocated space, but even though there is unallocated space in Disk Manager, CMD says it has no free space?
What's your method, just dumping the files on the root of the drive?

Looks pretty dense for a dust filter, so to be honest I think it would make a noticeable temp difference, but you probably have to blow dust out of the fans once in a while.

Last update on my pc problems. Just started it up this evening, got bluescreened. Kernel pagein data error. Its been trying to reboot but I'm pretty sure its finished. My question to you folks is, considering my laptop's about 2 years old, do you guys think I should just replace the harddrive and keep it chugging or should I just try and save up for a new one?
I'm looking for a new torrent client. I've been using uTorrent for a long time now, and it feels like it gets worse with every update, so I'm looking for the best alternative. Any recommendations?

Either qBittorrent or Transmission.
Hey, quick question about backing up and booting up a new computer.
Would it be possible to backup my current computer and boot a freshly built one with the backup? Or something along those lines. I am in the process of building a new computer but do not own an operating system CD or the likes, just the preinstalled one that came with my original computer (which is now upgraded to Windows 10)
Is there any other alternatives for this?

I've been using Deluge for a while now. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done.

Just use the windows 10 Media creation tool. It'll accept your previous installations product key if the installation image is recent (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

That's whats so nice about Transmission. It has literally everything I need a torrent client to have

Extremely sorry if this is the wrong place, but I have a question. I was just wondering if it's worthwhile starting an iOS jailbreak thread in this section. It could have updates on Jailbreak info (i.e. when a new jailbreak comes out), people could also ask questions if they had any issues jailbreaking or anything else along those lines. I asked in the slack irc and they had mixed opinions.
Sorry again if it was the wrong thing to post here.

What does Levelog think about terminal based interfaces?
So my friend's Macbook hard drive got corrupted, and Best Buy wasn't any help for her.
There was a trick I did where I took a friend's HDD out of their computer, use an adapter to plug it in to my computer, and used chkdsk to fix any errors. I'm just wondering if using Windows chkdsk on a MAc HDD would have any negative effects on it?

If my UA is anything to go by I think I'm a fan of them.

I was thinking about that but if I recall correctly all upgrades from previous versions are for the same hardware only, as it goes by that rather than a key.

Windows and Mac use different file systems, chkdsk probably won't even run

OS X and Windows use different filesystems; OS X uses HFS+ and Windows uses NTFS. OS X ships with drivers to read NTFS, but Windows doesn't come with HFS+ support. You'll have to find some third-party tools to do so. There are some free ones that are read-only, so you can recover whatever data you can, but you'll probably need to reformat and reinstall from OS X.
Did you even try the OS X built in file system check? Option+R or something like that on boot. It's surprisingly competent.
According to the friend who has the issue, their Macbook stopped working, and Best Buy was only able to retrieve 20GB of garbage data.
Could I plug it in to another Mac through an external cable and run the OS X file system checker on it?
Building my first desktop and I don't have much desk space. What cheap, small, and decent quality mic and speakers should I get? Mic doesn't have to be all that good tbh
the speakers I'm thinking are something like these or those little square/round ones designed for laptops
HI
is it possible to record sound with both a USB mic and a audio jack mic at the same time?
Google Play store won't install apps due to a false flag of insufficient data. What do?

Usually that means your system partition has a bunch of stuff in its cache/lost+found/logs/whatever. Check your storage. I don't know what model you have, but my Samsung has a small 2gb partition for system files and a 16gb for other stuff. If that small partition is almost full, there's your problem.
What you'd then need to do (if you've tried other stuff like clearing RAM and such) is to root your phone (if it isn't already) and check which folders in that small partition are taking up the most space. When I had this problem, it turned out to be more than 1GB of files in the lost+found folder (which contains corrupt files stored over time), clearing that fixed the issue.
I can't seem to access a website on my ISP'S dns i've tried flushing the DNS on my pc but to no avail is there any fix for this or is it my isps issue. the website in question is www.gmtower.org
