Currently have an AMD FX-4100 and looking to buy the FX-8350, will I be seeing a huge improvement in FPS? Current GPU is an R9 290.

you might see a small performance boost but not a significant improvement. the 8350 does have more and stronger cores so the fewer cpu-intensive games (arma, cities skylines, planetside 2, simulation games, etc) will benefit greatly from the upgrade. most games rely more on the gpu for performance.
I've got a 4K monitor and when I select 1920x1080 for the resolution in games, the outer area of the game is pushed off screen. Any idea how I'd sort this out?
What's the best tablet I can get for under €200?
all i need is something to check the internet on for college

Fixed it by changing some monitor settings.
So my friend's PSU appears to be busted (the lights went out and his computer won't turn on), so what's the best price/performance >~500W PSU around? It needs to power a GTX 970 and an i5 3470.
It needs to be available on this website pretty much: http://www.edbpriser.dk/
I'll look around myself, but it's been a while since I followed the PSU market.
What's the budget?
Well, one in the price/performance sweet spot is really what I'm looking for. Definitely not an IED, but it doesn't need to be modular or have a 5VSB smoother than baby jesus's butt either. It just needs to be quality, really.
Edit: Try to keep it under a 1000DKK, though. Thanks.

I know it's annoying when people just go "yeah, thanks for your suggestion but I'm gonna go with something else", but I think I'm gonna go with the Supernova G2 650W instead: http://www.edbpriser.dk/stroemforsyning/evga-supernova-650-g2-id-11412583.aspx
Based on these reviews: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Antec/HCG-620M/1.html
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/SuperNOVA_G2_650/1.html
It's only a 100DKK more, and in a couple of years that might be made up in the efficiency gains. Also has better voltage regulation. Iirc EVGA is built by Superflower, so I'm pretty sure it'll end up being reliable. Thanks for your help, though - if you have some input I'll be glad to hear it.

Any places online to buy GTX 970 for cheapish or even refrubished but working? (EU)

So I built my pc and went to test it, i checked all power cables, thermal paste has been applied, disabled gpu, satas, any peripherals and can't seem to get it to boot.
I do get a green light on the motherboard saying i get power though, but nothing else is spinning whirring whatever.
hopefully somebody can help address my problem.
Any idea why my PC turns itself back on after few seconds when I clearly clicked shut down?
So if my cpu automatically boosts up to 4Ghz, is overclocking still worth it?
So if my cpu automatically boosts up to 4Ghz, is overclocking still worth it?
was over clocking ever worth it if you had a current gen cpu?
I have a MSI Z97 Gaming 7 motherboard, if I boot my PC over WOL, then shut it down let's say, 10 hours later, it automatically boots again after shutting down. It only does this once, so when I shut it down after it automatically booted it'll stay powered off.
Anyone know what could cause this, or how to solve this?
was over clocking ever worth it if you had a current gen cpu?
Depending on the game, yes.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12876495/Screenshots/Sk%C3%A6rmbillede%202015-10-24%2013.06.28.png[/t]

Try turning off adblock? Just in case.
What's the best video card I can get away with with an Antec hcg520m power supply?
Keep in mind the PSU is also powering two hdds, one ssd, a midrange i5 (no oc), a few fans, and an add-on card. It is currently powering a gtx 970 with no issues whatsoever, but if I could upgrade to a 980ti without swapping any other components, that wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.
So, despite having my laptop on a riser (So there is some airflow under it), running games at any decent setting causes the CPU to try and cook itself (Nearing 100C).
Does anyone know what I should be looking for in a laptop cooler / Does anyone have any recommendations for one?
I was recommended the Cooler Master NotePal U2, which comes with two independent fans with removable meshes. The only downside is that one fan is extremely loud and makes noises as if it's constantly hitting something despite my attempts to clean it repeatedly. Other reviews I've read on it say it's 50/50 whether one of the fans will do this, but apparently Cooler Master will fix the issue for you if you contact them.

just repaste it and clear the dust out of the heatsink fins
Laptop coolers are a measure for noise reduction at best and a really bulky nuisance at worst
(unless you own a hp dvxxxx series, Clevo W230 or similar always-on-the-edge-of-overheating laptop)

Unfortunately that's not really an option for me, it's only a few months old and still under warranty, so I don't think I can really do anything to the internals.
Noise isn't a huge issue, since I'm using headphones, so I'll have a look at that one, thanks.
-snip, fuck my phone-
Do you recommend the Thinkpad X220T? I travel almost every day to university, would be for doing webdev and programming stuff, taking notes in class, may be used with CAD software later, the convertible screen appeals to me, and I don't care how heavy or bulky it is. I need it for good functionality, reliability. Oh man it would be cool to watch movies with it too. Other than that, I've heard a lot of praise for its keyboard and sturdiness (at least for thinkpads in general).
My budget allows to go to x230, but I don't think ivy bridge would matter that much, and the keyboard gets a lot of shit while I think it is acceptable for general use. I have never used a chiclet keyboard but I'm sure I would get used to anything.
I just need a good notebook that doesn't fall apart when it has to move 80+ kilometres a day. The thinkpads here have a lot of replacement parts so that's a win. And looks don't matter, just the good experience, hardware, and reliability I could get with them.
For Webdev / Programming, I'd shoot for something with a good screen. It's true that a x220 won't fall apart on you and they are great laptops, but 1366x768 can be a little tough to work with for programming.
Have you taken a look at bigger workstation laptops like the Dell M4600 or just a contemporary ultrabook like an Acer V5-572p? The M4600 is undoubtedly a brick and the V5 isn't a tank (though I've carried mine every day for the past two years), but they both have beautiful 1080p screens.
Those two don't fit into my budget, but I've found a T420 with 1600x900 IPS panel and SSD. Is it any good?
Mind you that I am using a 1024x768 shitty LCD at home so I am really used to these low resolutions.
Don't suppose anyone else is getting the same error I have every time I shutdown now. I think this has to be the error noise I hear when I shutdown my computer now and not what I previously thought.
Error from Event Viewer as follows:
Event 7031, Service Control Manager, The sync Host_Session1 service terminated unexpectedly.
I've done a bit of googling/researching and some say the error is relating to Onesyncsvc (one drive) The option is to disable it using the following commands: (Which also buggers up contacts, mail and calendar)
sc stop "OneSyncSvc"
sc config "OneSyncSvc" start= disabled
Or deal with the error sound and leave it alone. Was wondering if anyone else had this issue?
I'm looking at a new Laptop for gaming and I was wondering if this would be a decent one

Not at all. It's an ultra low voltage CPU with the lowest end Core i series integrated graphics.
Hey all, basically I'm wondering if I should consider making the push to newer hardware here.

A while ago I did notice the CPU struggled keeping up with GTA V Online, but I managed to solve that issue by ramming up the clock speed from 4.2 to 4.8GHz.
My question is, for how long could this CPU last with newer titles coming out?
