Someone in the Fallout thread managed to sort his shit by setting Fallout4.exe's CPU priority to high. I can confirm it somewhat works for me (I'm waaaaay below minimum spec but I can still play it on medium) [editline]11th November 2015[/editline] It works in Chrome because Chrome rolls its own context menu. Your internal Windows resources are fucked. Try these:
sfc /scannow dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Even though it said that there were some problems and that I should check the logs it actually fixed the problem. Thanks, for a while I thought I had to do a fresh install of windows.
I got to here than gave up [t]http://sharex.moe/i/2015/11/15-11-12_18-30-26.png[/t]
I'm sorry guys, I tend to use app and application interchangeably. What I meant was any old .exe, for instance fallout4.exe. I know how to create Firewall rules, but I can't quite grok how to only allow it to communicate with local addresses.
Hey guys I have a question relating to audio problems. I have a front audio jack and one at the back. I was using my headphones and somehow pushed the cable with my leg and broke the headphones. I then plugged in my samsung earbuds and when its all the way in a can only hear some sounds like the thing is under water or something. It was only playing bass. So I fixed it with pulling the thing out just enough to hear bass and the other sounds together. This worked for a while until I bought Logitech Z533 speakers. I plugged them into the audio jack at the front and it didn't work. It only played bass. So I figured that the jack is broken, then I went and plugged the cable into the audio jack that I never touched at the back of my PC and it still just plays bass. Same goes if I put my earbuds all the way into the back audio jack. Did I break my 2 audio jacks by breaking my headphones cable? I tried reinstalling my Realtek HD drivers and it didn't help. What is going on. tl;dr: broke my headphones in my front audio jack, now both my front and back audio jacks just play muffled bass

I really can't imagine why it's broken,I almost wanted to say that it's because the cable you're using is broken but since you've tried it with different cables I don't have a clue. But if nothing help just get one of those USB soundcards for under 3$ on ebay or amazon, they do a pretty good job and if you use the mic-in on the motherboard and got a lot of static then this thing will fix everything.
I'm looking to buy a new graphics card to replace my GTX 660, as I think the fan is going bad on it. I'm looking to spend around $300 dollars on it. I was looking at this for a replacement: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121926 However, I can get it for $300 at work, and then have another 10% discount on top of it. Would there be a better choice, or is this the best way to go?

EDIT: The fuck I was fucking around with the cables and not its working normally. I'll update later
So I can get a external sound card pluged in and then the aux and shit going into it?
Pretty much that, I have bought this type and it seems to work perfectly fine. http://www.ebay.com/itm/External-USB-2-0-5-1-CH-3D-Sound-Card-Audio-Adapter-/381344278090 The only thing that could be annoying is the blue flashing light so you could either put some non-transarent tape on it or go my way of spray painting it black. [editline]12th November 2015[/editline] There are cheaper ones too but I don't know anything about those and they get send from china so that would be around 2 weeks of waiting. [editline]12th November 2015[/editline] but hey free shipping
Would anyone be willing to help a newbie with a first build? I'm wanting to upgrade a get a new rig that can run Fallout 4 on low to medium settings with a stable 60 fps. I've heard the game is pretty poorly optimized, so I've gone and over-exaggerated the possible specs, but now I need help reeling it back in, as its getting a tad too expensive to be seen in my relatively near future. For instance, I'm not sure if the PSU is completely overkill for the parts I'm asking for, or if any other parts have cheaper alternatives. I'm salvaging my peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse) as well as my harddrive and possibly my sound card from my old build. Here are some pictures of my Newegg cart so far. If I had to give a budget, I'd try to keep it under $500, but I'm open to suggestions. My old SD monitor has been dying for a few months now and as Fallout 4 doesn't support SD monitors (found that out the hard way) it's replacement has finally become pressing. Specs ( do bear in mind, there's a good chance I might get a handmedown from my brother that's more powerful than this one soon, so feel free to go over what this one can use effectively) AMD Phenom II X4 925 CPU (2.80 Ghz) RAM: 4.00 Gb (though signs exist that one or more of the cards may be failing) GPU: AMD Radeon HD 5700 series (1024 Mb memory)
Ok I give up, I have this weird af bug where the context menu just won't always pop up properly and show everything so all I get is this weird mess [VID]https://my.mixtape.moe/esmivj.webm[/VID] I tried searching about this on google but all I can find is "how 2 make a txt file" because I search for "context menu no text" and just don't know what else to look for Any ideas what might be causing this? Win10 btw [editline]11th November 2015[/editline] I should add that this happens to every menu I try to open except for chrome, there it works perfectly fine and I bet on a bunch of other programs as well.
I just did a reboot and it went away. v:v:v

well it IS windows firewall, it's never blocked anything ever in my experience but maybe you can fuck about with the scope of the block rules and not bother with an allow rule at all
well it IS windows firewall, it's never blocked anything ever in my experience but maybe you can fuck about with the scope of the block rules and not bother with an allow rule at all
You've clearly never used Windows Server :v:
Anyone know of any gaming PC stores that offer good prices, especially for Cyber Monday?
Hey all, recently while playing Fallout 4 I noticed my GPU tends to struggle keeping up in certain areas. I've been running the game on High, but noticed slowdowns in tense areas. I've recently upgraded my CPU to a i5-6600k, and it doesn't seem to have a huge issue running Fallout. Right now I have a Radeon HD 7950, and I'm wondering which one of the two woud be more worthwhile now; AMD or Nvidia? I can't decide between the GTX 970 and R3 390 here. My biggest requirement would be 2 DisplayPorts, since I have two Dell U2414Hs which tend to be a bitch with Daisychaining.
Fallout 4 tends to run like arse on AMD cards, I'd personally recommend a GTX 970. I'm using that card as well.
I remember reading FO4 features list, and somewhere in that article it mentioned that it used Nvidia-specific features that will run like shit on AMD. Also driver updates/fixes are more frequent with Nvidia, plus more and more games in general use Nvidia specific features.
Nvidia Godrays and if I remember correctly TAA is on there too. Just keep godrays to low(they look the same anyway apart from it's not sharp and imo it's better to leave them off they look trash anyway and is a waste of frames.
TAA should have minimum impact on AMD. Nvidia's tweak guide also agrees with you on the godrays. There's a slight difference in screenshots, and you won't notice in motion. Whats a good graphics card to upgrade from? CPU: 1090T RAM: 24GB @ 1600MHz PSU: 750W Chipset: 790, PCIEX 2.5 GPU currently: AMD 7870 I've been thinking either the 290X, or a 390. Something around the $300-320 mark. I was thinking maybe going with the GTX970, but I really dig the 390. Would the 1090T hold back such a card? Is there something better?
Anyone have a recommendation for a good tablet? I want a decently sized android that can play videos at 1080p. I have a budget of $200.
When you say decently sized I have no idea what that means. 7 inch? 8 inch? 10 inch? What is too big or too small for you? I don't know.
I'd say at least 8 inches but would be willing to go to 7 if there's nothing in my price range for 8 inches and up.

Unless you want g-sync, physx, or shadowplat. and tbh if it were me i'd be scouring ebay and CL for deals, just don't be a retard and you won't get scammed.

So my friend records videos in 720p, he was asking me what would be a better choice in terms of quality & time consumption: Record in 720p and upscale to 1080p on render, or simply record at 1080p? He knows that upscaling won't look as good as recording it natively, but recording in 1080p is taxing on his system and he doesn't get the same framerate. The downside is that upscaling on render makes his videos longer to render.
Just record and render at 720p. The upscaling step there is 100% useless. It's just extra work for no reward, the quality will be the same. What would be much more important than the extra resolution would be to throw more bitrate at the 720p copy. A 720p copy with a high enough bitrate to look decent is always going to look much better than a 1080p resolution with the same or less bitrate, especially if the 1080p version is just an upscale and the source is still just 720p anyway. The more resolution you have, the more bitrate you need, so just stick to 720p if performance is an issue.

When I do find a card, or when a coworker is selling one, its some POS with w/ 1GB, and they want $170 for it. Ill go through my usual avenues. But you're right, much better deals here and there. The Chi-CL was usually some POS gaming rig from 2008, or recycled office workstations. Occasionally, a decent GPU will show up. As for the Phenom II cores (Deneb/Thuban), I honestly think where of fantastic design. I heard reports that the 1090T compared against the 8130 in terms of processing power. Now I'm just a little worried about the PCIX slot (2.5) and the chip wont be bottle necking a R9-390. Would any of those features be of use? PhysX still even a thing? [editline]fresh_cockold_split_in_two_by_jackhammer.mpg_____.exe[/editline] I'm really eying the 390, I just need verification that the CPU would not hinder the cards performance. 3.2GHz/6cores seems suffecient, but is it fine with PCIX 2.5?

Trying to upgrade my laptop SSD and I think I have the solution. Just wanted to run this by you guys before I make the purchase. I have a MSI GS60 Ghost Pro which has M.2 slots. I'm getting a Samsung 850 EVO along with these : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HKV2TVK/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1YAK8U7QV5H1E https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HJZJI84/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER I'll use a cloning tool to move all my data to the new drive. Any suggestions or recommendations? I don't want to waste money on this endeavor.
is there any reason you cant use a regular m.2 drive? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mzn5e250bw
