have you considered cloning your OS?
I have no idea what would be best. Currently I've got the OS installed on my SSD (E: drive, fuck my life). I'm planning on formatting both the C: drive and E: drive and then just doing a clean install and making sure my E: drive is C: and then restoring my backup onto the correct drives.
I think the programs I've already installed and backed up are gonna end up fucky anyways, due to the different drive letters they'll be in. Ah well.
PS: "if you actually went ahead..." sounds like I'm being condescending but I wasn't, just an FYI.
Are these safe voltages? I get popups a few times a day recently saying vcore or something else is to high from Asus AI suite 2. I googled this before when it said i have like -100c in temps but it was because MSI afterburners overlay conflicted with it. Now im thinking this might be the case again but I want to be safe.
I've had it like this for years now, possibly changed the voltages when downclocking from 4.4GHz a few months ago.
My coreclock is 4.3GHz on my 2500k.

Is ripping blu-rays a painless process yet? I remember codecs being an issue years ago. I have plenty of blu-rays lying around unused since my TV is only 768p and my old set up of HDMI > DVI on my PS3 to my monitors doesn't work anymore.
Are the USB drives any good?

Hi, I'm the OEM. Where do I fill this?
Okay, seemingly dumb question here, but before I spend money I want to be certain.
My desktop's mobo fried recently. It's a 5 year old Dell XPS, here are the details. Since then, I've changed the GPU and PSU.
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/servicetag/CF7CNL1/configuration
Instead of buying a newer mobo and a new processor, my current plan is to track down the same model of motherboard and just plug and play with my current setup to last for at least another year (or two if possible).
I'm trying to track down the exact same model of motherboard right now. However, I can't find it on Dell's support page (linked above). I grabbed some numbers from the mobo to try and figure out what model it is, and the closest I have found is this.

I don't know how I can absolutely confirm it though. Any ideas or pointers?
Here's a sticker and some identifiers that I've been using in my research.

Okay, that's a relief. I wanted to make sure I was looking at the right thing. Thanks!

These sorts of artifacts has been appearing in chrome for the past few weeks. Anyone have any idea what could be causing them? sometimes they aren't black too, they are like a slice of the page was alt+dragged to another spot like in photoshop.

Is GPU Acceleration turned on or off?
I really need help with this, please read.
Specs:
I5 6400
MSI H110M PRO-VD
8GB RAM
I build a PC recently but i have noticed that the CPU was thermal throttling itself all the time (to 800 mhz).
So i opened up a couple HW Monitoring apps such as HWInfo64 and they all showed the same:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/EsSWs0b.jpg[/t] notice Motherboard and AUXTIN are over 100°C
In the BIOS i have discovered that you can disable that thermal throttling function and so i did.
The system works great until it overheats in AIDA64 and blue screens, but it works good in games that do not requiere 100% load on the cpu (for a couple hours)
I have also talked with MSI and they told me to upgrade to a Beta bios but that didnt help either.
I think this might be an issue with the motherboard.
What do you guys think ? Shoud i go with a different brand Motherboard or is there a different solution
those are not the temps you are looking for in your temp monitoring software
also if its throttling you should probably remount the heatsink that's on it
I have remounted the CPU already and i used arctic mx2 thermal compound. Also the CPU temps are all fine tho
Is GPU Acceleration turned on or off?
It is turned off. Shall I try turning it on?
All right, my computer has 4GB of RAM but only 3 of them are available. It is a x64 bit architecture but still my OS is x32. Would getting a x64 OS make it have access to all its ram?

Yes.
My power supply was buzzing, so I turned my PC off, restarted it, and then the lower PSU fan was making a lot of noise, rattling and grinding types of noises. Those have since gone away, and the fan is still turning, but the PSU seems a lot louder than before and I can actually feel it sucking in air when my hand is on my mouse (my PC is on my desk).
Faulty PSU, or just likely full of dust?
More likely than not it's dust, you should clean out both the inside of the computer as well as the dust meshes/air filters. If the problem persists, it's a faulty PSU.
I've got issues. Since the release of Battlefront, my computer turns off randomly. I checked the event viewer and it's "Kernel Power 41" error. I have a B85-G41 MSI mobo, evga 780, 8 gb ram, i7 4770, and corsair 600M psu. Think I should change me PSU since that's what I've been reading online or is it a RAM issue? Also how do I run memtest86?
[editline]17th November 2015[/editline]
Also I have something in my minidump folder too that I can upload if needed.
Just to check, overclocking settings are stored on the motherboard right? As in, if you took an overclocked CPU out from one mobo and put it in a different motherboard, the CPU would be at stock speed on the new mobo right?
So I'm looking to upgrade my video card in the potentially-near future and I'm wondering what's out there that's better than my current card that isn't assloads expensive.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161418
(This fucking card really confuses me. When I look at it in my order history it says it's 1GB. The actual page says 2GB and my dxdiag says I have about 7,000MB of memory?)
Looking at video cards is like trying to read another language for me half the time. Websites put so much shit in the title that it hurts my head.
So a problem I'm having is that Photoshop CC 2015 isn't able to properly use the Nvidia normal map filter. I deduced that the filter uses Javascript files with a "JS" extension, and the current default scripts CC 2015 comes packaged with are "JSX" format. Any way to convert them from JS to JSX?
So things are great with my laptop now. Was able to install the new SSD without issues.
Now I have another problem. I used Samsung's software to move all the data (including the OS) from my older boot drive to the newer drive and now I can't remap them. I've already tried in Disk Management but my computer says its can't do that. I want to use my new SSD as the C drive and my older one as another drive.
What's your budget?
Let's start at $100-$150 for now. I'm willing to go higher but I'd like to avoid it if I can.
Know what your power supply is like?
What are some alternatives to Steam Link? I'm after something that can stream games and desktop at 1080p 60fps.
Any idea what could be up randomly my PC will soft crash I guess is the best way to call it, no programs or files will open so I can't open up task manager, but any programs currently open work fine so I could browse in firefox and it is still fine. Getting irritating because I have to forcefully shutdown via reset switch because windows wont run the shutdown executable either, currently my only hope to find out what it is means leaving task manager open 24/7 and hoping that shows me somthing.
Need decent Wireless N 5.0GHz Dual-Band USB/PCI(E) adapter. Wired Ethernet is not an option. Had a Belkin USB dongle but had problems and failed periodically, had to be plugged out and in again multiple times. Otherwise connection speed was fine. Want to stay away from then as a result. Range doesn't need to be amazing. Don't know about budget so I guess I'd like to keep it as cheap as I can without it being total shit.
Thinking this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704133
PS C:\Windows\system32> powercfg /lastwake
Wake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 1
Wake Source [0]
Type: Unknown (3)
How do I identify this unknown wake source so I can disable it?
powerline also not an option? wifi is the worst choice for desktops.
I'm open to the idea but I have concerns about price. Looks like decent powerlines run ~80 dollars at the minimum which is a bit pricey.
Also I hear in other places that powerline is a last-ditch effort and the worst choice so I'm getting mixed signals.
I think powerline needs your buildings wiring to be up to modern standards to work well
I don't know your building, I can't tell you if it would be good or not

Turns out event viewer is more useful
Wake Source: Unknown, but possibily due to timer - Windows will execute 'NT TASK\Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator\Reboot' scheduled task that requested waking the computer.
I've disallowed this task to wake the computer. Maybe we'll be OK

How would I go about determining whether or not it's fine? This house was built in the 50's.
