Recently my steam has been freezing every time it is open. Just being incredibly slow and being only able to interact with the windows for fractions of a second at a time. I'm able to fix it by running steam setup for some reason when it happens. This has happened twice in a week and I don't want to do this every time.
EDIT: Happens every time I reset my PC
Try this
God damn, I have a rattling fan on this 2nd pc.
I can temporarily fix it by.. many temporary fixes, but it always comes back.
But it doesn't matter. So, what's up?
heat up sticker on back with hair dryer
peel sticker off carefully with razor blade
add any oil you have lying around (3-in-1, used motor oil, etc)
put back sticker
i did that to my rattling power supply and it went away for good
I installed a hyper 212 evo, but now my temps are touching 90 on boot
I've redone the process plenty of times but it still happens, now I'm stumped on what to do.
It's on tight, and there is definely enough paste, the fact the pc will get to desktop and not crash Is odd as 90c is definitely crash levels
Speccy says 15 everything else says 90
I dare not turn it on again but I did get a picture on my phone if you fancy a look.

Are you sure, where is the sensor on the board. It gave me voltage warnings too but I flashed the bios again, I can set the computer to ignore the temperatures if you're sure it's just a faulty reading but the board doesn't look damaged
What if each time I've turned it on its read differing numbers all in the high 80s and 90s, which is what I do get.

Each time I boot that is.
Looks like I'm buying a new motherboard
Ok I don't know what it is. My video buffering for Youtube and Twitch has been shit all month long. It just buffers too slowly and before I know it the video has to stop.
My network and sharing center says my signal strength is excellent, me and my mother are guessing it's stress on the router since it's used by everyone in our home (phones and laptops.)
I just have no idea how to fix this, can someone help? Would my new computer's CPU help in this problem?
What's a good way to prevent DDos attacks on a server and other types? Its a home server i host for documentation and i've notice recently its been targeted for attacks of that nature and other ones.
It looks like they are trying to find a way in, but so far they haven't succeeded.
Edit: My friend thinks its a botnet that are grabbing the IP from advertisements.
Still unable to explain this myself

Not enough processes equal to 92
same goes for ram at times really, I should have eight avalliable

i would highly suggest not running a server if you're being targeted by attacks
ISPs will just often completely kill your connection if you're being ddos'd
What are my options if I want to improve my HDD's write/read speeds? It's quite an issue on its own already, but I just discovered that it's really an issue with Fo4, because the game is super reliant on it, to the point that having the best video card on the market won't do shit if your HDD is shit.
I just tested it with my little brother's SSD, and I didn't even get frame drops, while with my own HDD's it could crawl down to 1 frame per 10 seconds on average if I'm really unlucky.

Make sure the drive is running in AHCI mode in the BIOS. Most motherboards have it set by default but some cases I've seen it set to IDE.
Defrag if it's pretty fragmented. Otherwise, you may just be pushing the limits of your HDD. Some models are simply slow like 5400 rpm ones. In which case the only option is to buy a new 7200 rpm one.
Car repairs are too expensive, gotta sell my Surface Pro.
See you space cowboy.
How can a memory slot go bad? I fear one of mine might have died, gonna run memtest86 to check.
EDIT: Seems to be working fine now.. Will still do a memtest86... test overnight.
I'm interested in getting a raspberry pi and coding a game that starts when the pi is launched. Let's assume I already know how to code the game how would I get it to run automatically when the pi is turned on?

You'll have to make a script and set it for startup with something along the lines of this

my sister was recently trying to reinstall windows through a USB and when she changed the boot priority the computer stopped responding to the screen. shes tried her monitor and two different TVs and none of them work

how worth it REALLY would it be to buy another 970 for sli?
have a 144hz + a 4k monitor set up, my computer can also easily support it with the power supply + Mobo
justify or deny my need to get one
I mean fuck doubling my frame rate would be insanely cool... but it doesn't work across the board on that many games apparently.
I need an opinion from you guys. What do you think about Digital Storm?

A 4K display takes a lot of work to render to, and newer-gen games are getting harder and harder to run. Getting another 970 for SLI would basically double your framerate and other graphical settings for current games, and would help play newer games more smoothly in the future.
And there are many tricks to get SLI working across the board for almost any game, mainly fiddling with the settings in Nvidia Inspector.

overpriced af
if you need a custom gaming lappy, xoticpc is a better bet and if you need a custom desktop, putting one together just takes the better part of an hour
even newegg prebuilts / slickdeals prebuilts are probably a better bet

the general rule about sli / crossfire has usually shifted to "if you need the power of dual gpus to run it, it usually supports sli / crossfire", but there are exceptions
just check what games you play the most right now and see if they have good sli support before committing (you always have the option of just selling your 970 and getting a better card)

the only better card out there is the 980 ti and selling it for that would be silly
already have messed with NI too, it's P. good.

witcher 3 I had to run at high / lock at 30 fps just to get 4k working
and fallout 4 gets sub 30
but talos principle on max settings works fine in 4k

yeah
the computer still turns on and everything. it just refuses to display on any monitor

My best guess is that when the boot priority got changed, a quickboot setting also got changed. It might be bypassing the boot screen, in which case it might be worth it to try spamming del/f8/ whatever your bios key is as it launches.
If that doesnt work there's always clearing the cmos.
So, I recently ran a Display Driver Uninstaller for reasons. After fully uninstalling my drivers, I went to AMD's Website, grabbed the Driver Autodetect, and let it work.

But now I both have CCC and Crimson installed for some reason? How the hell did this happen? Last time I updated to Crimson it removed CCC automatically. Is this something to worry about?
[editline]5th December 2015[/editline]
So I ran DDU again and deleted the AMD folder on C:/. Installed it again and now it seems to work fine. Probably just a fluke.
As a person whos never used an SSD, Is getting a 500gb SSD for stuff like my OS and software (chrome, steam, rainmeter, visual studio, etc) worth it for the price? How comparable is a 7200rpm hdd to one?
