So I just got a BSOD caused by notskrnl.exe, googling the issue is saying I have a BIOS problem, is that actually the case or is something else at fault? I can upload a BlueScreenView report if someone is willing to look at it.

try uninstalling mcafee. it and norton are both more or less malware and it's pretty normal for them to cause all sorts of problems, but they make their money off their marketing department.
On windows 10, the basic windows defender is actually more than enough. If you need something better, use malwarebytes or if you know what you're doing, comodo. eset is supposed to be pretty good. But stay away from mcafee, norton, avg for sure. I havent heard good things about avast recently either.
my motherboard is starting to have trouble with the audio jacks (straight up not detecting plugged in devices and i have to fiddle with it to get it to register) and it's getting worse, would a cheap sound card be a good temporary fix until i can build my new pc?
i can't use the jacks on the back of my pc because the interference is crazy loud
So how to i figure out the frequency of a sound in audacity?
i just recorded short a clip of me talking and I want to know how deep my voice is

This is a more engineering related question and it may make me sound really computer inept, but if you had a 500W power supply, and had it taking in the maximum it can take in (500W), over what period of time will it actually suck 500W of power from the outlet, over a second, minute, hour, or longer?

i dont understand
thats sounds like asking how much weight you would put on a scale if you placed a 2 pound rock on it

Watts are already a unit of energy over time. You may be thinking of watt-hours (what your power bill typically measures).
I've been trying to update flash player by running the update installer, but when I open it, nothing happens. The cursor gets the little loading circle for about a split second before it disappears, and when I look at the processes in task manager there isn't any change (no process appears or disappears from the list) when I open the file. I've tried restarting and I'm really stumped as to what exactly is wrong. I've had this issue earlier with a spotify installer as well. I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit in case that matters.

According to this website, if you had a power supply rated at 500W, and ran it at full draw 24/7, it would use about 450KW/h. This is assuming its maximum power draw is actually 625W due to losses from the wall to your computer (or at least that's how I'm interpreting it).
You are not going to run your computer at full power draw 24/7. Even if it were actually on the whole time, you gotta sleep sometime, and when computer parts aren't at their full usage potential, they generally don't draw as much power. So unless you've been running some sort of collective computing while the system would otherwise be idle, you're drawing less than 450KW/h, I'd probably wager somewhere closer to 250-300. I never exactly plugged any sort of meter into my computer though and measured this, so my estimate may be way off.

A 500w power supply is taking more than 500w at full load. The wattage rating is for how much it can deliver. There is some lost in the conversion (hence different efficiency ratings) that is dispelled as heat.
This is still unanswered, I'm guessing the lack of noise means nobody really has a XL2430T or suggestions for alternatives to it:

what's the theoretical max speed I can achieve at about 250 meters on copper? getting nbn fttn (goddamnit) in 6 months and i really would rather 100/40 than 50/20, also if anyone knows, why the fuck aren't we getting fttp
i'm getting 5/0.5 now though so yeah it's definitely an improvement, but it annoys me that our houses aren't getting fiber when we're going to need to in like less than a decade anyway
Hi guys can someone recommend me a router between 100-200 dollars that isnt shit thanks

What do you want out of a router? Features, what to do, do you want increased security ability over a normal home one? With that budget you can have some fun.
I'm unable to install any updates in Windows 10. And by saying any I mean those provided by Windows Update (the app just freezes), but I also cannot update Nvidia drivers or even install new drivers for printer. There are no specific errors, just general ones stopping installation altogether. It's weird, I experience it for the first time.
Every time I launch and exit a game, everything becomes incredibly slow until I restart the computer.

memory leak?
check task manager
memory leak?
check task manager
That's implying every game he plays has memory leaks.
Though I do agree to check Task Manager and see what up, you could even use something like HW Info to log what's going on for each part of your computer when you run games.
I shouldn't have said games, I just got this pc and the only game I played so far is fallout 4.

Top is my ram usage before playing, and after is my ram usage after I played and exited the game, same background programs
[editline]23rd December 2015[/editline]
I'm doubting it's a ram problem because that is still a lot of free space
Is it safe for a GPU to be running at 98% usage?
Yes

I would like features like for example a QoS that works well, but my main focus is to be able to maintain a good ping in online games while my brother is using the internet. I'm using a very old and shitty TP-Link router right now that needs to be replaced asap.
i've honestly been using a tp-link w8960n for ages, works great. never tried qos on it though
[editline]25th December 2015[/editline]
then again my internet is garbage
So my relatively new computer has issues booting and shutting down, got an A2 error yesterday and this morning I found out the thing was still on and unresponsive when i woke up, any idea which part is fucking up?

If you wanna learn something and have a really powerful setup you could go for something like the Ubiquiti USG and an AC Lite AP. You could also swap the USG for a cheaper Edgerouter X but they seem to be low on stock at the moment so the price is above the $50 it usually is. If you just want a plug and play you could go for an ASUS AC68U which is a pretty nice consumer router.
Any idea why my screen looks like this when I switch to resolution any other than my native?

(everything is pinned into the left bottom corner if you can't see because of the shitty quality)
Here's how it looks at my native

Check your GPU scaling options.
Otherwise, its probably the monitor. Check its scaling options.

Here's the problem, it started happening recently, and I didn't fuck around with ANY settings, so I'm not sure. I'll still try though.
EDIT: I tried to change scaling stuff around, didn't help.
I know very little about networking and internet, it's the one realm of computing I've never dabbled in. Long story short, we needed a WiFi extender for my family's wireless devices and a Best Buy nerd sold us the AirPort Extreme. I set it up as a new network, connected it to our shitty old modem, and the wifi seems to be pretty damn strong throughout the house.
However, my PC's Ethernet is still connected to the original modem's network, even though it's technically plugged in to the AirPort. Does the AirPort's network only work wirelessly, or should it be connecting through Ethernet?
