Ah. I wouldn't exactly call that portable though unless you only use nix systems, considering its nonstandard and putty is a standalone app that's like 800k.
what i mean by that is ssh -D 8080 works anywhere you can ssh
what i mean by that is ssh -D 8080 works anywhere you can ssh
Fair enough, but on Windows you might as well configure through putty as it automatically enables for that profile.
Hi, my motherboard has what seems to be a 6 pin power connector like what graphics cards use, I've had the board for almost a year without any problems. If I get a better PSU with extra connectors or a molex adaptor will I see any benefits? Motherboard is MSI 990fxa gd65 with a 8350.
What graphics card are you using? If your graphics card is outdated then you may have to upgrade it since it could be a bottleneck to the upgrades. What computer case are you using? You'll need to check its dimensions and what motherboard form factor it's compatible with. I noticed you listed your budget in USD yet your post flag states you're Sweden. What country are you located in exactly? Since you listed your budget in USD I'll make a list with that instead. If you don't want to bother with overclocking then you could save yourself some cash and get this for a total of under $300: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZxxTP6 CPU Cooler: Cyrorig H7 Notes: - Since you listed a 400-500 USD budget you could easily put in a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD for $108. It'll make a significant upgrade to your PC. - If your memory is 1.65V then I wouldn't worry too much since Haswell can take it. - If your hard drive is around 5 years of age then I would recommend on replacing it. - If your PSU is around 5 years of age or outside of its warranty then I strongly recommend on replacing it. - You don't necessarily need an aftermarket cooler on a stock clocked CPU. It still do recommend it though since it will generally be all around quieter than the stock heatsink. The Cryorig H7 I listed is something I would now recommend as a replacement for the Hyper 212 EVO. - Again, if your GPU is outdated then you might need to replace it with something more recent.
Thanks man! My GPU is okay I guess, it's a Radeon 7850 1GB from 2012. The case is a normal ATX case. I'm gonna have to read up on the CPUs. The price difference is just around $20, maybe it's better to get the faster one? I've no clue :v:

A Hyper 212 EVO/Cryorig H7 is really more suitable for a mild to moderate overclock at most. If you want to maximize your overclocking potential then you would need a higher budget cooler which adds more to the cost. Overclocking can help extend the products performance life by a year or two when it's needed in the future. Although overclocking these days is simple and straightforward you will have to invest the time to do it and deal with instability issues that can arise from it. It's really up to you though. If you want to go overclocking then stick with a 4690k/Z97 and use a Cryorig H7 on the low end or a Phanteks PH-TC14PE/Cryorig R1 on the high end.
Also that Cyrorig H7 cooler is from an unknown region, I've seen 0 reviews on it so I'm sketchy as fuck.
The Cryorig H7 is pretty much an improved version of the Hyper 212 EVO; quieter, better performing and easier to install. It's still relatively new on the market so I'm not surprised you would say that. There are quite a few positive website reviews of it online and with its current price point the reason why I recommend it over a 212 EVO.
Quick question Looking for a motherboard that will support overclocking on my CPU. CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($325.00 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($25.98 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($131.24 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($62.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($99.99 @ Micro Center) Storage: Seagate Barracuda ES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.49 @ Amazon) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card ($344.99 @ Amazon) Case: Corsair 400R ATX Mid Tower Case ($89.99 @ Micro Center) Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($118.98 @ Newegg) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($14.99 @ SuperBiiz) Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($34.98 @ OutletPC) Total: $1298.62 Can someone recommend one that's around the same price as the one I have currently. Has to have 4 USB 3.0 slots or more. Feel free to chime in with other changes. Yes I need an i7 don't tell me I should get an i5
Does the motherboard support OCing the cpu? Aka how can you tell if it does? [editline]9th February 2015[/editline] Oh shit its because of the Z in the Intel Z87 right?
It's because Windows 8 comes with Net Framework 4+ installed however you can enable it. you can find that in control panel > programs and features and to the left you'll see turn on windows features
already did that and nothing :/, thanks for the help tho
Yes You'll also want to make sure it's flashed with the latest bios.
Alternatively (because you may end up with an older shelved model that hasn't gotten the latest BIOS update and you need a regular Haswell CPU in order to install said update before you can use a Haswell Refresh CPU), you can just get a Z97 motherboard because they fully support Haswell Refresh CPUs out of the box.
Is it bad to use air duster to spray dust out of laptops? I heard it can get dust way deep in there and can damage it. I also heard you shouldn't spin the fans when using air duster, as it can cause static and ruin the CPU, is that true? I dusted my desktop and tried my best to not let any fan blade move, but it was pretty difficult when I had to clean the front 2 intake fans. And I already dusted my laptop just by just spraying into the vents. my idle temps went from high 40s to high 30s. First dust since I got it in ~2010! I don't know if I should keep doing that, though.
I've been taking an industrial air compressor to my desktop PC's since 2005, no damage to report. Seriously, that thing could rip skin from bone. :v:
What's a good program for scheduling? I need something that I can give me an alert at a certain time with a message attached, and not need to be set up beyond initially - So if I set it up the first time, it'll give me the same alerts at the same time each day. And free, too.
I'm looking to get a replacement for a my failing hard-drive, does anyone know any good priced ones preferably around the 1TB of storage range?

What's the best 1920*1080 monitor under 150 euros? (170 dollars)

I'm browsing Tumblr on my friend's computer, and there was a flashing block of green filling the margin between the top of the page and the first post on that page. Is the GPU going out or am I full of shit? [editline]10th February 2015[/editline] it's just come to my attention that the version of AMD graphics drivers installed have no auto update mechanism so they could just be horribly out of date but lets assume updating doesn't solve the problem for the purposes of my question
Also, guys, I hate to be a burden again. Recently, my local Best Buy had one of these on sale for $260, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with 21:9 monitors. I was considering to replace my 2 1680x1050s with one of these or possibly use it with another smaller monitor if I felt I had lost too much screen space with the transition. Thoughts? A 25" ultrawide would have terrible vertical space. [editline]10th February 2015[/editline] It's only 11" tall including bezel. That's like a 19.5" 16:9 screen, which I personally have had to use and do not recommend.
Best Buy emailed me saying they want a phone interview. Wish me luck guys
So my university has filtered 'facepunch.com' at the end of last year. I was still able to use labpunch to browse and post before that went kaput. I'm able to access some base content with I set up a subdomain record via cloudflare to facepunch, but as all the links still give off a facepunch address, that's not really suitable. Question is, would a hosts file entry be capable of rerouting all content through my own record and successfully bypass a domain filter? Does anyone have any experience with the matter?

Windows 8.1, is it possible to hide the taskbar until I press a combination of keys?
What happens to RMA'd computer components? Are they destroyed? Fixed? Sold for massive discount?
What happens to RMA'd computer components? Are they destroyed? Fixed? Sold for massive discount?
I believed that they are refurbished.

If I get the 3D Vision Glasses (USB), will the 3D work on my Asus vg248qe monitor with a dvi cable instead of display port?
Assuming general consumer laws, Does warranty extend/renew after you've RMA'd product and got a brand new replacement? I mean say I bought CPU 6 months ago, now I had to RMA it and I received brand new CPU. Will warranty be counted from original purchase date from 6 months ago or current new CPU warranty?
