I have 4 gigs of RAM and I mostly use my PC for gaming. Would it be overkill to upgrade to 16GB RAM? Also, what kind of RAM is the best for gaming?
8gb is still considered the standard. I have 16, but only get near the limit when I do virtualbox.
What's the best price/performance router/modem combo? It has to be all in 1 box, because it's my grandma's preference.
Could anyone tell me how to fix this on vista... Yes I know...(vista is shit ) anyways...
Chrome and notepad got blurry text but somehow the websites I visit isn't blurry just google search answer text is blurry.

Just an update on my 240Mb problem,
I asked all around internet, nobody knows why I am still getting capped at 100Mb, so I will most likely get new cable and try then.
Any suggestions where to get cheap CAT6 30 metres of cable? also what kind should I be looking for?
Anyone knows a good software to format a whole pc inclusive c drive? Best thing would be something I can throw on a bootable USB stick.
Any Linux live system that includes some sort of disk partition tool (usually GParted or QtParted) would do the trick
Also consider the panel, IPS or TN, for example.
TN monitors have less accurate colours and have a much narrower viewing angle, however tend to be far cheaper than IPS monitors.
Have a quick skim over the first section of this page: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/panel_technologies.htm as it may help you decide what you want.
1080p IPS monitors can be had for ~140-180 new, i got my Dell S2340M for 120 as a refurb and the panel is flawless
Cat 6 is over kill.
Get Cat 5 E.

8GB is pretty standard.
Unless you do what I do and play minecraft and host a minecraft server on the same PC then 16GB would be a safe bet :v:
I have CAT5 E
It obviously doesn't work :v:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_5_cable#Category_5_vs._5e
it does support gigabit so :v: it isn't the cable
So you are saying if its cat5e it doesn't matter quality?
Well what esle can it be then?
What's a decent wireless router with a strong signal? I'm looking for the best range/signal before anything else, because apparently all of my brick-and-mortar walls form a fuckin' faraday cage. Not concerned with gigabit wifi, I get 10mbps and that's not gonna get better anytime soon. Preferably a popular model, because anything "niche" is expensive as hell or just doesn't get here, and importing it myself is a mess.
Could I get away with something like a WRT54G with bigger aftermarket antennas or something?
bad negotiation
slower router/modem
So what can I do?
So what can I do?
I mean you've got a DOCIS 3.0 modem in there, but the low end ones cap out right around what you're getting. My Motorola SB6121 is a low end model and caps right around 150mbps. Now I'll admit I moreso skimmed that manual you linked, but I couldn't find any specification or model number for the modem part to see it's throughput. I'd call your ISP and ask if the modem they supplied you is fit for a 240mbps connection.
Which mount guys?

I'm thinking 6421, the silver stand - definitely seems sturdier and more functional ( going by reviews ) but looks somewhat ugly/out of place
5402 on the other hand looks like it belongs and simply quite nice - but some seem to say it sags.
6421 also requires a tool to adjust the height, not sure about 5402 but for me it isn't too big of an issue.
Why is this such a hard decision? We may never know.

I've got the 5402, and it's fantastic for my 27" 2560x1440. Doesn't require a tool to adjust, either. For the price there just really isn't a comparable stand out there. As for the sagging, it does definitely have trouble with my 29" 2560x1080 ultrawide when it's out to any side to a decent degree. That monitor is around 15 pounds too, so far under the rated weight. The 27" though is around 11 pounds and has absolutely no sagging problems, so it may also have to do with the aspect ratio and the control board and shit is all on one side, dunno if that ends up affecting it much.
Can't tell if its the game but having super low fps in State of decay but i'm running a GTX 980
I used Easeus Todo backup software to make in image of my netbooks hard drive, the image of my netbooks hard drive is now stored on my external hard drive, how do I now transplant this image of my netbooks hard drive back onto my netbooks hard drive?

It won't be your graphics card then
It won't be your graphics card then
Yeah though i can't recall the game being that sluggish though it might be because i've been used to 60fps on smash bros the past couple of days

My ISP told me it's 240Mb capable apparently
I had a real good read at the modem and it tells me shit about it's LAN negotiation settings. I think you're going to need a new one, but before we do that can you hook up your computer to another switch/router that's known to be a 1gbps supported device?
I don't have any other routers unfortunately, this current one is given to me by ISP.
Like it hangs every second or so? That's probably because the CPU is waiting for something. So I would go with Dying HDD being most likely of the three. But it could be a misbehaving driver as well (doesn't necessarily mean its the mouse driver either). Don't rule out a misbehaving mouse either if you haven't swapped it out.
Also what OS is it using. WinNT based OS's are better handling those issues than 9x ones.
Thanks for your advice! The cursor doesn't hang, it sorta' jumps a few pixels and usually when there's video-related activity, like Flash-based websites (e.g. Youtube, Steam Community). I'm suspecting the HDD or RAM, but can't really tell since various tests with swapping RAM and HDD have been inconclusive.
Probably a good time (and reason) to just go out and get a new machine. :suicide:
Raise a bigger fuss.
Tell them that the router is negotiating the LAN speed at 100mbps not 1gbps thus restricting the speed your internet can use and basically just call it faulty and say nothing else will do, new router or threaten to leave.
Like get real real fucking shitty to your ISP but calmly of course.
They told me; We can send technician free of charge, but if it turns out it's problem on your end - there will be a fee to pay. I guess I should do that, it seems like not problem on my end.
I've been looking into overclocking lately after buying a 4690K, and after overclocking to 4.5ghz at 1.218 vcore, I hit 90C in OCCT after under a minute with a Corsair H100i that has Arctic MX-4 paste on it. Is that a typical result with the H100i or should I reseat the water block? I heard issues with thin motherboards preventing good pressure on the IHS with the Corsair H series, so that might be it, but there's not even a tiny bit of give if I try to wiggle the block.
I should also note that at stock clock, it hovers around 60-65c with small FFTs.

Stock clock on idle, or stock clock on OCCT?
Does anyone know how good Powerline Ethernet is?
Used to use it myself, useful in houses where rewireing just isn't doable. Relies on the router and the cliemt machine being on the same phase though. Speeds and reliability varies.

Also, trying to find a charging clip for a metawatch smart watch. Can't find them any where without buying a brand new watch.
Stock clock on idle, or stock clock on OCCT?
OCCT with small data set stress test. While idle, some cores dip below 30c, while cores 2 and 3 stay at 30-35c, if that matters.

About to order, but my desk is slightly less thick than 3/4th an inch and it says the smallest it will clap to is .87 ( so being smaller that .75 is gonna suck ) think I could stack some gorilla tape on desk or just mod the clamp?
I think my issue has been resolved. OCCT temp readout with blend P95 v26.6 stress test gives me 60-65c on large fft portions of test at 4.1ghz with 1.092 Vcore under load. I guess there was a set period for the MX-4, which the package said there was none. I now wonder if it's practical for me to use 4.4-4.5ghz as a permanent OC with my H100i.

I'd just grab a piece of wood to place on the underside of your desk where the clamp is. It'll just pad it.
So, what's a good router/modem combo? It has to be a standalone box and my budget is less than 80 dollars.
Help me pick a switch! My only requirements is that it has to be gigabit, have at least 12 ports, and be rack mountable. Managed or unmanaged doesn't really matter, though I guess I'd rather deal with an unmanaged. I'd also like it to at least not be louder than the poweredges (R210's). Any suggestions? I'd like to not go above $100. Wanna buy tonight when I order my servers.
