So my laptop starts up with a black screen and a cursor, looking it up says the harddrive is fucked.

Actually I don't know what's wrong with my laptop.
[editline]Edit[/editline]
Turns out I'm pretty sure I wiped my installation of windows off the hard drive.
Whoops
Does anyone know of a Free Blu-ray viewer program? VLC doesn't work with it and most ones I found require payments.
Guess it's time to buy windows! Should I go for 7 or 8?
[editline]1st March 2015[/editline]
Wait you can't buy 7 anymore can you

Try get seven for cheap if at all possible, you can then get to 10 for free, and cheap
If else, some student here could get a OS key from dreamspark premium

I mean I'm a student.
Dreamspark as in this?
[editline]1st March 2015[/editline]
It doesn't appear to just have normal Windows.
[editline]1st March 2015[/editline]
Oh I see it's because I'm not in STEM
[editline]1st March 2015[/editline]
I can buy eight with a discount right from Microsoft, I'd kinda rather do that than wait for a disc or run the risk buying from Amazon or something.
[editline]1st March 2015[/editline]
Unless someone with Dreamspark Premium feels the desire to be a super bro and find a key for me

Windows seven PM incoming
Keys are limited, so I've already got my 8 in use
Does anyone know of a Free Blu-ray viewer program? VLC doesn't work with it and most ones I found require payments.
The problem is you need to get the keys to the discs from a dodgy website or pay some company a stupid amount of money. Thanks, movie industry!
Getting the keys is the slightly more sane approach, and once you do that, VLC should handle it just fine.
So my brother had this issue for a real, real long time that whenever he's playing TF2 with us that his entire system would freeze up randomly. When this happens his HDD indicator is constantly burning, but yet the drives remain dead silent.
It has been happening three times in an hour now, and I finally managed to urge him to check his hard drives.
When this showed up:
[T]http://puu.sh/ghPx7/62b3becc20.png[/T][t]http://puu.sh/ghPzF/bf7cce6416.png[/t]
His 320 GB drive is from a prebuilt machine he had since 2009, and his 1 TB drive is one he purchased in 2012 when he built his machine.
I've already made backups of his most important files, but I wonder if I should discard these drives immediately ?
Is there any obvious reason why the video outputs aren't working on my motherboard?
Running a 7970 and I seem to have some issue with my display drivers. Doesn't happen the majority of the time, and when it does it it only happens on my second monitor; and when I turn off that monitor it does it on my main display. Re-installed the drivers and still does it. Is my card failing me?
So, what's a good router/modem combo? It has to be a standalone box and my budget is less than 80 dollars.
Your grandma's ISP didn't give you guys one?

I was replacing a cpu cooler fan on a friends computer that was preventing the computer from booting and after I fixed it and started the computer and it couldn't find the drives. I plugged them it my computer and only one showed up and was corrupt.
That leads me to ask if the data on the drives are lost forever or if there is a way to get anything from them. My friend is heart broken because he has pictures of his kids on there and old movies and shows that you can't find anymore

I had the same issue on my 270Xs, i had a 720p tv connected via HDMI. Currently I have my second monitor connected to my IGP and haven't had the issue, although i haven't tried connecting it to my GPU.
AMD also hasn't updated their drivers for like 3 months, like god damn

You running the latest version?
You running the latest version?
What is the latest version? I forgot.

shit.
[editline]2nd March 2015[/editline]
I installed with a USB and it just keeps looping back to this screen no matter what.
Put in your Windows 7 cd and perform a windows repair. It will replace the missing/corrupt files

You mean this is a fresh install?
Yep. Everything installed normally, and then this happened after the restart.
anyone know a good place to start for deciding on a good tablet? I need one for University however I'm willing to do my own research. Right now I'm just lurking 4chan's technology section (/g/)

Hmm. Have you tried a different .iso? Are you doing any updates or drivers before restart? Could be a bad hard drive.

What's your budget, what do you want to do with it, and do you want Windows 8.1, Android, or iOS?
Hmm. Have you tried a different .iso? Are you doing any updates or drivers before restart? Could be a bad hard drive.
I sincerely hope it's not the hard drive. It's going to be expensive trying to get a replacement. I don't know about any updates or drivers because it just starts at that screen immediately.

Use Seatools to test the hard drive. It'll be unfortunate if it's a bad drive, but there are certainly more expensive parts than a $50 1tb hard drive.

$100-$200 hopefully although from the looks of it Windows 8 tablets are out of my budget.
I would prefer Windows 8 but Android is acceptable, I'm only going to do word processing, internet surfing and possibly watching shows on it. As far as I know iPads are quite expensive too.

Guess I'm gonna have to buy some cords or something because I don't have any way to hook it up. (By the way, this is a laptop)

Would a SATA - USB adapter work?

I got the original surface for around 200 iirc and it's served me pretty well.

I downloaded it via SDM, not likely that it's the iso
