Hi. I spilled beer on my laptop a couple of days ago, like right on the keyboard. I dried it up as quickly as I could, but some keys stopped working after this. I turned it off and took out the battery. Started it today just to see if it was still alive and it was. The computer is an ASUS F550LN. Should I get someone to do a check and repair? I called a local repair shop and he said even if they replaced damaged parts it was a bit of a gamble since it might die in a month, half a year, or a year or so. Basically it will never be fully recovered. Is this pretty much true?
Why does my start menu + charms on Windows 8.1 sometimes stop working and I have to restart explorer.exe to fix it?

Whenever I boot my laptop my keyboard is unresponsive for a while, as well as explorer. This is both the keyboard on the laptop itself as any plugged in keyboard. Any clues on what might cause this?

Is it possible to put standard stock Android on any device capable of running android?
Not any device, but if you have a phone with an unlocked bootloader (or can unlock it yourself) it's definitely possible
is there any way I can get old drivers to work on win8.1? when I go to device manager to install the drivers for a wifi adapter it says it found the correct drivers but it can't use it due to something wrong with the hash.
define stock android though for a samsung note edge touch, stock android isn't "nexus android"
I'm pretty sure he means AOSP based ROMs, what most people mean when it comes to "stock Android".
https://www.vessel.com/videos/DkWN4qqW1 but first you'll need a vessel account cause the videos here are early access go read this quote
So far I'm not impressed with Vessel What is with all these fancy pants HTML5 websites that don't allow middle clicking or control clicking to open a new tab of that link? That is so frustrating. Maybe I like the spot I'm at and I see another interesting video? I'd prefer to middle click the video and watch it later in another tab Also I'd like to know the stats of the video (for nerds). The biggest feature it needs for me to even consider subbing would be video history. There's no information on what I have watched. Maybe I saw a cool video and wanted to share it with a friend but I can't remember which one it was. with youtube I can go through my history and find said video. Hell, the best feature of youtube history is if you stop watching a video, you can pick it back up on any device and start off where you left off! (some times it doesn't work..) Youtube doesn't have a great version of this but I'd like to have more search options in a youtube channel. With youtube you just have a basic search, i'd prefer to have more filters. With Vessel you don't have any filter or search options within a channel.
Hey guys, another question; I currently use an Asus gaming laptop to play games, and knowing that it isn't too powerful, I try to stay on lower-end settings (around the settings that Ge-Force recommends). Lately however, I wanted to test the limits of my laptop using Evolve and CoD: Advanced Warfare as tests. Using Nvidia Inspector, I messed with the settings, and somehow I get around 50-70 fps on Advanced Warfare with pretty much maxed settings such as: 8x AA, 8x Supersampling, 16x AF, High qulaty Ambient Occlusion and High Quality Texture Filtering. The game looks great, but I feel like the settings aren't exactly true, because my system shouldn't really be able to run this well. Here are the specs:
Summary Operating System Windows 8.1 64-bit CPU Intel Core i5 3320M @ 2.60GHz 49 °C Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28) Motherboard ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. G46VW (SOCKET 0) 51 °C Graphics Generic PnP Monitor (1366x768@60Hz) Intel HD Graphics 4000 (ASUStek Computer Inc) 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M (ASUStek Computer Inc) 56 °C Storage 698GB Seagate ST750LM022 HN-M750MBB (SATA) 41 °C Optical Drives No optical disk drives detected Audio Realtek High Definition Audio
Thank you.
those specs are actually pretty good for a laptop honestly, i'm kinda surprised beat it's hot as hell when you run games on it though
Yeah, it does kind of hot after long periods of time, but I make sure to keep it cool and such. AFAIK, all the other settings take effect no matter what game I'm running, although super sampling may be buggy going from Nvidia Inspector to Advanced Warfare. Aside from super sampling, this is to be expected of my laptop? GeForce typically recommends next-gen games to have way lower settings, but I typically always force 16x AF and limit AA to 2x or none. I'm now getting micro-stuttering in Advanced Warfare, but that may just be bad connections I'm having.

Running games at 1366x768 is not a challenge for a 660M. I can completely see you getting settings like that working on such a low-res screen.

Does normal Windows 8 key work for N version?
