Win7N keys don't work for standard Win7, so I'm guessing no.
Alright, so I've used Dropbox for a while now to transfer files from one computer to another.
Is there a more local way to do this? I imagine a flash drive or hard drive with two USB ports, both connected to each computer at the same time to create a shared drive of sorts, but searching for this theoretical device online brings up nothing.
How can I achieve sharing files between computers like the way I described?

You can just share the drives if it's on the same network.

By mapping them as network drives or just sharing a folder.
Best wifi range extender money can buy (for cheap)?

Why not a better router?
Why not a better router?
Was assuming range extender would be cheaper and could use it in such a way as to make the wifi signal go around corners instead of directly through concrete walls. Forgive me if this sounds dumb.
Ok so I'm hosting a mumble server. Me and my friend are having occasional cutting-out, and I'm trying to figure out who's end it is on.

I'm stumped! I've been playing games for a while now and experiencing sudden freezes and crashes that require me to end the process and restart my soundcard. (The last little bit of audio will repeat endlessly otherwise.) I've updated my drivers, checked the health of my hard-drive, benchmarked my video card with FurMark, watched the temperature as I'm gaming...
Is there other tests you guys would recommend?
What do you guys suppose this is worth? Dad asked me to sell his old tower. It does have Win7 on it

What (if any) software do you guys use for regular backups? As I started doing more important work I realized how unprepared I was for an eventual crash or hardware failure so I decided to do regular backups that I'll upload somewhere and I was thinking of automating it one way or the other.
Since I use a fairly small SSD as my main hard disk I was thinking of doing disk images and compressing them. Good idea?
that'd take a long time to back up and conpress but as far as I know SSDs only lose life when you write to them a lot, and images are almost entirely a read operation, so if you have the time to spare that can't be too bad an idea

My thoughts exactly. I was thinking of setting aside one day a month or something to do periodic backups and keep something like the last 3 up online somewhere. If that fails though I'm happy to use a program that regularly backs up and compresses only certain folders (which hopefully should be quicker).
Anyways though the biggest question is what is a good piece of software for achieving this?

Crashplan supports backups to your own media for free, or you could use shell scripts (or batch files if windows, hint: robocopy).
Is there a reason why there are so many update these days for windows 7? I don't remember getting nearly as many not long ago but the number of updates has really seemed to pick up lately.
I installed a new GPU and afterwords half my USB ports don't appear to be receiving power. My USB 3.0 ports work and the front panel ports on my case work, but the two on the top of my case and the ones on my mobo aren't working anymore. I suspect I've fucked something up while installing the new GPU but I have no idea what. I checked and made sure everything was plugged in and reseated and still nothing.
I just bought a new laptop with a blue ray disk drive. However it doesn't come with any software to watch or rip dvds, anyone know of any legitimate free software?
For DVDs, pretty much any player on the planet will play them.
For Blu-Rays, you're stuck either getting the keys from a shady site or shelling out the ass for a player. Sorry, blame the MAFIAA.
Well that sucks, thanks for the help anyway.
Should I watercool the gigabyte windforce gtx 970 I just got? the heatsink is too big for my case so I'm trying to see if I should buy a full tower or replace the heatsink with a waterblock since there is no way I'm getting better aircooling with another heatsink.
Just did some more research, no way watercooling is going to come out costing less
Is it easy to use a Laptop as an external monitor? If it helps my Laptop has a HDMI port.
Asking because if I can just use my laptop as a monitor then I can save money on buying a new rig. My laptop is 17" so it's not too bad.
Yeah just plug it in and extend it and either set your bigger display as the main monitor and then you can use the laptop as a secondary.
Most laptops do not support it. It usually has to be explicitly stated to have a laptop support an HDMI input and passthrough to the screen.

Hi guys I need your help. I have a very very strange problem while using youtube that I never experienced before and that I can't seem to solve.
The problem:
While watching videos on youtube it frequently happens that the browser freezes. It does not happen with every video and sometimes I can watch the same video once without the problem and once with it.
(Edit: Sometimes just the video stops and the sound keeps going, the browser still freezes though.)
I even experienced cases in which the freezing happens while accessing the youtube main page, i.e. not even playing a video (very strange).
What I tried so far:
I'm using Chrome with AdBlock and Scriptsafe. I disabled both Addons but it didnt help. I re-installed Chrome but the problem still occured. I thought it's a chrome-specific thing so I downloaded and used firefox - same problem occurs. Even worse in firefox actually, because in chrome the freezing sometimes stops after 10 seconds and I can close the youtube-tab and keep browsing whereas I have to shutdown and restart firefox completely. Since it happens in both browsers and with/without Addons I thought that it is not the browser but something else. I downloaded the newest driver for my video card (AMD 6000 HD series) but the problem is still there. I use Windows 8.1 64bit and update it regularly. The internet connection is fine and shouldn't be the problem imho, especially since another laptop is using it and does not have this problem.
I'm really out of ideas. Usually I can narrow down the problem to a specific application/addon/hardware or so and then solve it. But this time I can't find the root.
If anyone ever experienced this or has an idea, please let me know.
Thanks in advance <3
Hello FP!
I bought my current personnel computer back in the end of 2009. And I'm thinking of upgrading. I use my computer for gaming, mapping and occasionally for photo editing as well.
At the moment I have:
Case: Antec Three Hundred (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042)
PSU: Scythe Kamariki 4 Plug in 650w (http://www.scythe-eu.com/no_cache/en...on-scythe.html)
Motherboard: Asus P7P55D (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P7P55D/)
CPU: Intel core i5 750 (http://ark.intel.com/products/42915/...Cache-2_66-GHz)
CPU Cooler: Scythe Zipang 2 (http://www.frostytech.com/articlevie...articleID=2421)
RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4GB (2 x 2GB) 1600 DDR3 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226103)
GPU: Club 3D Radeon HD 5770 (http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/...203D%20Edition)
HD: WD Caviar blue 320GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136770)
I'm thinking of upgrading with:
Adding another pair of Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4GB (2 x 2GB) 1600 DDR3, to get a total of 8GB of ram. Furthermore I would add another Club 3D Radeon HD 5770 for crossfire and lastly a WD Caviar green 640GB, for storing files, and a Kingston SSDNOW V300 for my operating system. In the end, the upgrade would cost me 145,00 €. Thoughts? Should I continue with my plan or change something else? Can the PSU handle the extra load?
I thank everyone in advance for any help.

Is your youtube set up to use flash or html5? try switching them around and see if it helps. I find flash player is cumbersome these days and often crashes if I have too many tabs open that utilise flash in any way (even if they are not playing videos or streams).

A bit late here, but VLC can play most Blu-Rays. It takes a bit of extra work to set it up, due to stupid laws about crypto, but it's worked well enough for me.
Anyone know of in-depth explanations of Nvidia Inspector's AA settings, with possible picture comparisons of the settings? There's a ton of them, and I'm not exactly knowledgeable in the field of AA.

You'd get more from either an R9 280 or 290/290X. Since your motherboard is for Xfire, get an R9 290. Your PSU can handle any of them just fine.
