I'm considering buying a Lenovo y50-70, but I don't know weather or not to get one with the GeForce GTX 860M 4GB, or the GeForce GTX 960M 2GB. There's a 700,- difference in the price. (860 lowest, and 960 highest.)
Which one would be the better purchase?
960m is just rebranded 860m with a bit higher clocks. Both have 2 and 4GB versions.
Also GPU isn't the only difference between those models. More expensive one probably has IPS display and maybe an SSD.
Are you choosing between 17 and 15 inch models there? If you want any portability take the 15 inch model.
Edit: There's also Kepler version of GTX 860M. Don't get that one.
What is Virtualization?
I am developing android apps and installed something called Genymotion (I have AMD so I can't intsall Intel's HAXM).
It said number of cpu's has been limited to 1 because virtualization technology is turned off (or something along those lines).
Does my CPU have it? FX 8350
Look in the BIOS options for virtualization technology, should be under CPU features.

They are all 15.6". But it seems the biggest offender might be that the expensive one has a hybrid harddrive, 4GB less ram, and 0.2GHz higher CPU speed.
I have them in comparison here since there are a couple of models

I would get the cheaper one and replace that HDD with SSD.
Edit: I just found out that 700 Norwegian Krone is only 80 euros. Oh well. I'd still replace that HDD, be it hybrid or not.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but can anyone recommend me a good MP3 player that isn't apple for < $70 that lets me put files directly onto it?
I was looking at this one
https://www.google.com/shopping/product/8942888845234635937?q=sony+mp3+players&espv=2&biw=1680&bih=925&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.&bvm=bv.89947451,d.aWw&ion=1&tch=1&ech=1&psi=W7MeVcXsHNKjyATokYGgBQ.1428075361568.5&sa=X&ei=drMeVfHKH4O2yQTjuIGQBw&ved=0CIIEEPMCMAA
since I had an older walkman that worked pretty well and let me put my music directly onto the device instead of going through a special program.
Any recommendations for cheap ones that let you do that and are reliable/good quality?
If you have any android phone made in the last ten years or so, you should just buy a high capacity micro SD card and listen to the music on your phone. That would be the more cost-effective solution since 64gb micro SD cards can be bought for around $20 to $30. And pretty much any android phone allows you to put media directly onto the device storage or its SD storage natively in windows explorer, no special programs needed.
Hi! I have one of those laptops with only one socket for both microphone and speakers/headphones or whatever. My problem is that I want to use my laptop's internal microphone while having headphones plugged in but sadly, it becomes all muffled and everything.
It sounds like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/if9b5hvk2jpe93j/Microphone%20Test.mp3?dl=0
I tapped a bit on the laptop to see if you can hear it. My laptop model is Asus X550V.
Would it be possible to use my tablet pc as an input to another computer? As in just use it as a drawing tablet. The darn thing is so slow and monitor small, but I could use it for my main rig.
Don't know what to search for so any help would be appreciated. (Main rig is running W8, tablet Arch Linux)
There are a great many apps for android that offer the same functionality, meant to be used as remote mouse and keyboards via WiFi, but I'm not seeing a remote input client for Linux in google, only servers.
For this type of thing, the client is the controller and the server runs on the device that receives the input. So you're looking for a remote mouse server that has a Linux client. Or if possible install android to the tablet.

Out of curiosity, I put one of those dumps into an online analysis tool and it mentions Rainmeter.exe, I don't know if that is of any use to you.
E: It was the minidump file analysed
E: Rainmeter got an update recently IIRC, might have borked your install perhaps? I myself havent updated, and now I am a bit afraid to :v:
I'm at ends wits here.
Can someone analyze my memory and minidump and tell me why and specifically why it's crashing or at least show me how to read the .dmp files specifically to where it crashes?
I know that the ntkernal is crashing but specifically why and why is it causing this? It's exactly happening at 1 day and 6 seconds every time

yes I've already updated the obvious network+soundcard+video drivers
After looking over the minidump file, I'd guess it's a faulty ram module.
Tried running a full memtest on it?
I tried walking up to stack to usermode, but the memory that holds the process PEB, is not in the memory dump. Probably because it was paged to the harddisk at the time.
But afaik what programs like rainmeter do, is that they query the network driver directly using DeviceIoControl, for the stats. The only other program that does this afaik, are the various networkign command line tools such as netstat. Its a fairly unconventional call so i guess getting rid of rainmeter would help for now.
I found this which is probably it, which claims the problems started with the 23th of march security update, and can be resolved by uninstalling patch KB2966087

Reminds me of the time my server threw random errors regarding the RAID array.
faulty S-ata cable was the culprit.
This happens when I try to install Windows on any of my hdds right now, no clue how anything GRUB is coming up since all of the hdds have been wiped since I last touched Arch, and fucking clue what the hell is going on here? http://imgur.com/0OT9Zm3
I've already checked all of the boot flags in Gparted. Also have gone through my boot list in BIOS. Also have gone through all of the stuff for rebuilding the BCD in the repair disk.

Disconnect every single hard disk but one and run the Windows disk BCD repair thing. Repeat for each and every hard disk you have.
If GRUB still appears after that, call your exorcist.
is Thermaltake 700W ATX12V Version 2.3 a good psu i had it for a year and its running fine. I just want yours guys opinion on it.
Hey guys, weird problem with my wireless mouse.
I bought like two weeks ago. Been playing Civ5 today and out of the blue, the axis of my mouse reversed totally (up goes left, down goes right, left goes up, right goes down). Tried to reinstall drivers through computer management, restarting my pc, plugging the nano receiver to different USB slots and nothing helped.
Tried a few programs that reverse the mouse axis but they did not help. Not sure what to do now. Can't believe that my mouse could break after such a short time.
And it is pretty weird that it happened exactly when I started to play Civ. It was the first time I have played this game with my new mouse. Seems trivial but who knows, maybe it is some shit that the game messed up.
Anyone have any tips?
By the way, it might be the mouse since I have plugged it into another computer and it still was reversed. USB corded mouse works fine.
Is there a way to stop when moving files from my HDD to my SSD or the reverse that it moves it rather than making a copy?
I have an AM2/AM2+ socket motherboard and I was looking to get a new CPU but I'm on a budget and I can't really afford to get a new motherboard and ram so I can use an AM3 socket CPU. Are there any decent AM2 socket CPUs out there or alternatively, any AM3/AM2+ mobos on the cheap?
If it helps any, my current Board is an ASUS M2A-VM and I'm looking to put an AMD FX-6300 CPU on it.

We'll need to know the actual model number.
Which monitor for gaming?
LG 22MP47HQ-P 21.5" IPS LED Monitor - 1920 x 1080, 5ms or

I've heard that VA has bad ghosting between dark colours, but I'm not sure because there are different sub-types of VA.
I would buy the LG, which is going to have an LG panel. Who the fuck knows where acer gets theirs
also IPS > VA imo, i haven't had ghosting problems with my dell IPS

So I found out that AMD phenom II cpus are compatible with my motherboard yet they're AM3 and my mobo is AM2, but people swear it'll work so I'm going to trust them.

They will work, but you'll need to make sure your BIOS is updated to the most recent version. Also, only the 95w Phenom II's will work. So the Phenom II X4 945 is the strongest one that you'll be able to use.

Aw shit, 945 is the last listed compatible chip on the ASUS motherboard page, but I could only find a 955 which is 120w. I'm reading a lot of choppy reports, some people report the 955 will work but at only half speed.
Guess I'll try to return it and swap it for a 945.
Is there any way to get the Unified Xonar drivers to acceptable lvl's? I have to constantly fidget around with my speakers just to hear games, Netflix and Skype notifications.
Anyone had both a Surface Pro 1 and the 3? Looking at possibly upgrading it soon, Is there anywhere in the UK I could trade in my old device / part ex it?
What's the best program for mimicking Linux workspaces on Windows?
If you're on an nVidia card there used to be ways to beat nView into working even on GeForce cards. Maybe there still are. It did a pretty good job at the multi-desktop thing.
Aside from that, I have no idea.
