Also I got to do a clean install on my since my windows 7 since the updater had some errors that screwed with the registry and drivers so bad even the recovery discs couldn't help it. Taking a system image and restoring wont help me since I don't have any from before. Is there any other back up/restore methods than the whole manually dragging the folders?[/QUOTE]
Still looking for any answers to this
I'm looking to buy a new case along with fans for it, and I'm a little worried about the amount of fans and how many SYSFAN internal connectors I have on my mobo. there's enough room for 4 fans in the case (NZXT S340) while I only have three SYSFAN connectors. how would this work out? could I safely use an unused CPUFAN connector or will that get me the wrong speeds for the fan?
[editline]6th April 2015[/editline]
while I'm at it, how long should a PSU last on average? I've had mine for 5 years now which I assume is well within a healthy age, but when should one generally switch them out?

Why not a basic fan hub? They can be found for cheap, and I'm pretty sure you'll be fine with all your chassis fans running at the same speed. As for PSU lifespan, that all has to do with the quality of the unit.

the S340 has no 5,25 bays so it's gonna be difficult to shove a fan hub into there unless there exists fan hubs that go other places
[editline]6th April 2015[/editline]
PSU is a Corsair HX650W which I think is of decent quality

I'm talking about something like [URL="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811997110"]this[/URL], not a fan controller. I've got a lower profile one from swifttech that has 6 ports and fits in the cable routing area behind the motherboard, but I don't know if it comes in 3-pin and mine is PWM.

ohh, I've never seen a thing like that before. I did a quick search where I order my computer parts and I couldn't find anything of its kind there. I suppose I could live off of 3 fans at the time being, not like that last one would make that huge of a difference. I'll see if I can find a little hub somewhere else
Also that PSU is a great unit. For whatever reason for the HX750 and up they switched to an inferior platform... Not a bad one though, just not as good.
i found my model number for my psu im using TR2-700AL2NC-A
Selling my AOC e2450Swh(one is a Swd) monitors, what do you guys think is the best monitor out there that isn't extremely overpriced, maybe around the $200 (AUD) mark? Looking to only get two as opposed to my three (I never use the third).

It's aiight. Nothing special but not an IED by any means.
What do you guys think is the best online storage solution?
I used Dropbox forever but the storage was really small and its annoying because they gave me extra storage free for like a year but now I don't have it anymore and have to get rid of a lot of stuff.
What has the biggest amount of free storage and is easy to use like dropbox?
I have all my photos backed up on Google Drive so I was thinking of using that?
I plan on getting a NAS eventually for my media stuff like films etc.
I'm more so talking about online storage for photos and documents and shit.
I have Google Drive downloaded, and I saw it has a Google photos thing, but it is only selecting like the last 8 photos I have uploaded and not all of them? I have like thousands from Auto Upload on my Google+ Photos thing.
Any ideas? Just want everything in the one place
My graphics card is being pushed a little bit to the side (opposite to the plastic covering) by a few PSU cables, with the chassis lid pushing said cables. And I mean the actual card, not the plastic covering. My case sucks, there's literally no space for cables - [B]it's a bleeding nightmare to connect everything, especially the 24-pin[/B].
I don't care much for the GPU, I'll replace it soon enough. But, will my motherboard's PCI-E slot be damaged?

I think I managed to find something, the Corsair Commander Mini. familiar with that? would it do for my use? I also saw something else which appears to be more gimmicky but could work, the NZXT SENTRY LXE External fan controller. even though it looks more expensive, it's actually cheaper than the Commander Mini. any opinions of any of these?

You'd probably have to use the Corsair Link software for the Commander Mini, but other than that it looks good. Cheap NZXT touchscreens are ass.

I think I'll wind up with a Commander Mini. hopefully its software isn't as big of a memory hog like their Utility Engine for my K95 RGB
I'm going to need to get a new GPU soon since my current Gainward GTX 460 is slowly dying out on me, not to mention it's about 4 years old and I actually have some money to spend on a good stable GPU. Can anyone recommend me a card? I have £300 to spend, but I can stretch to £350 if you think a particular card would better purchase in the long run.
Also are Gainward cards still good? Or does it not really matter now which make/version you buy?
Misc: Motherboard; P8Z77-V, power; Corsair CX600 (600W)

I highly recommend EVGA. Also I hear good things about the GTX 970 despite the fiasco about it.

After reading up on the 970's, I think they're pretty good for their price + power/performance. I think you have me sold on the EVGA, it boasts good cooling, good performance under load compared to other cards and unlike the Gigabyte version the fans will go into idle mode when finished :v:
And also for such a computer novice like myself all I have to do is pop out my old GPU, pop the old 2x 6pins into my new GPU and pop it back in - no hassle!
noticed my HDD was 41% fragmented, but Defraggler won't let me defragment it due to "low space" apparently. there's 386GB free on the partition so no idea why it's complaining.
partition map

disk 0 is the one I'm trying to defragment. 600GB partition is a dump I use in Windows, the 300GB one is my Linux /home partition.
the error

any idea what to do to let me defragment it?

There is not enough space on the disk.
[editline]8th April 2015[/editline]
(= Delete files)
That should be enough space though. I know I've defragged just fine with less than 20% free space. He has well over half.
Try a different utility? There are tons of them and all do just about the same shit. Try the integrated windows one, maybe o&o defrag (I prefer o&o, it's very good).
You ran a check disk right? Just in case its just a file system error.

the integrated Windows one wouldn't launch for some odd reason, but I found my problem. I had no idea I couldn't download stuff while defragging, so stopping the GTA preload let me defrag it without issues!
can someone help me identify GPU that is not expensive but also good and compatible with my architecture?
mobo is made by gigabyte (M68MT S-2) and my central pooter unit is an AMD FX-8120
[editline]8th April 2015[/editline]
i personally do not give a shit if any game runs below 60 fps

What's your definition of not expensive? We need a budget.

Inodes maybe?
Does Windows even have a concept of inodes?
Hello. I'm currently on Windows 10 Technical Preview. I have a problem with navigating to folders not displaying their contents. I've recorded a video to illustrate my problem:
[url]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55311295/ShareX/2015/04/2015-04-08-1542-58.mp4[/url]
The folder will endlessly display "Working on it..."
I can work around this for normal things by typing C:\ into a run box, but this doesn't work for things with a file navigator as shown in the video.
If it's related, whenever I search in explorer, it will display correct search results, but there is a small ribbon that says "Search indexer is disabled, searches might be slow" or something to that nature. Selecting the option to turn it on in that ribbon does nothing, as it still appears after reopening explorer.
Also this is not a problem in a new build specifically. It has been a problem from the very beginning with my fresh install.
[editline]8th April 2015[/editline]
Found this error, deleted the old search indexer file, still occurs.

Deleting C:/ProgramData/Microsoft/Search fixed everything
anyone have any recommendations for a nice looking royal purple led strip? I know of a couple strips that reviewers say don't look purple at all (instead they're magenta or some form of pink).
I just recently got some corsair af140 purple led fans which give off exactly the kind of purple I'm looking for, except just a little brighter to light the inside of the case.
Why do laptops come with so much memory? Just to impress people who don't know better? My PC gets along fine with 8GB, but I'm seeing cheaper laptops with 12GB of RAM. I can't imagine why you would need so much. Why not cut some RAM and add better storage? Or is the RAM so cheap that they just shove as much in as they can?
