I got a brand spankin' new hard drive in the mail today, but it didn't come with any SATA cables. Can I use any old cables or do I need newer ones?
Yeah, any cable will work AFAIK.

I'm having trouble with my laptop display and a second monitor I just hooked up. I'm using the Surface Pro 3 so in my display the option for 'Change the size of all items' is set to Larger - 150% (default) since anything less is way too small on this laptop. However on my second monitor the sizing is way too large. When I change it to Medium - 125% the display is perfect on the second monitor but shit on the laptop. Can't figure out what to do :/ [editline]17th May 2015[/editline] nvm worked out that slider thingy. all good now
depending on the branch 16 bit 11025 as august said (applies to css, hl2dm, tf2 and any other game still on the 07 and 12 branch) csgo and dota 2 run on 16 bit 22250 celt_mono, csgo used to run speex ultra wide band at low quality however until recently
so newer running at AM radio quality ehh Funny because my friend wanted to buy a really expensive quality microphone because he could. I asked if he'd use it for anything outside teamspeak and tf2. Only voip, no recording shit My phone records ~44k Hz, perfect for voip
quick cross-post, sorry for bothering you guys.
I've got this R9 290 and I quite like it actually apart from the completely random blue screens I get. I can be playing a game just fine without any problems and the out of the sudden I get a blue screen. I've browsed the internet but never found a real fix for it. Did anyone here have the same problem? And did you get rid of it?

Oh yeah alright, sorry. I can't seem to upload the mini dump. It says I don't have access even tough I own the damn thing, I also don't know what you mean with BSOD driver and I can never really read the blue screen since it disappears before I've actually red something. PSU is (found the user manual so I'm just using info from that so bare with me.) from OCZ Technology, ModXStream-Pro, OCZ600MXSP, Total output 600W

Managed to snap a pic of the blue screen [t]http://a.pomf.se/nctcaf.jpg[/t]
Is that an access violation? Could it possibly be a hardware related issue? PS: Probably not, did you ever try to reformat the PC? It could just be a driver issue.
Hi there So I might get a new desk soon and need another monitor. It's not 100% sure yet but could use some advice I now have a Samsung p2350 and a Samsung p2770 ( 23" and 27" ) The 27" might be to big and want to downgrade it to another 23" so I get 2 monitors the same size. I don't want to spend to much of money on it but I've been looking at this and read that it's pretty good for not a big amount of money. Yes I know it's 23.6" so it's 24" but still better than 27" Is it a good buy or a bad buy? Thanks
quick cross-post, sorry for bothering you guys.
Probably a driver issue, use Bluescreenview to find the offending driver(s) [editline]17th May 2015[/editline]
Hi there So I might get a new desk soon and need another monitor. My friend is in need of a new laptop, he needs one that can run things like 3ds max and zbrush properly, 2k eur is the maximum he can spend but he'd prefer the price to be way lower than that. Kind of urgent since the one he has now is dying, any suggestions? TIA
would anyone know hwy my gpu shits itself after closing a game? This is driving me up the fucking wall.

The Zbook 14 is small but also only has a dual core i7 and poor cooling
Converting anything to gif using default parameters on ffmpeg return poor results Anyone a lot more familiar with codec configuration know what's needed to be set?
Export your video to individual frames, join them to an animated GIF with ImageMagick. Your GIF will be very large then though (I believe ImageMagick by default uses one palette for every frame) but you can shrink it with an optimizer until it's small enough.

My friend is having some issues with his keyboard Any help? Does anyone remember what the issue is, because I've definitely seen this before a few times.
i'm looking for a new monitor, and i want something that has both 1440p resolution and 144hz refresh rate, in addition to gsync, but i can't find anything frugal. should i compromise either refresh rate or resolution, or should a save for twice as long?

They're new monitors, but from Korean companies. They're 1440p, and can pretty much always overclock to 96hz, 120+ is a bit more rare to be honest though.
Anybody have this problem with blank links to videos or channels on youtube? The links work, but there's no text. It started happening a few days ago, but I'm not sure what started it. It only seems to happen with Chrome also. Youtube works fine on Firefox though. I tried disabling all of my extensions, but none them seem to be causing it. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that didn't work either. Anybody have an idea? Here's what I'm seeing:
Any ideas as to what could be causing intermittent display corruption/glitching/what-have-you (e.g. this and/or this) where the image on the monitor will flicker/flash rapidly to the left and right? For reference, I have an AMD Radeon HD 7870 hooked up via HDMI to my monitor, and this happens whenever I attempt to play older games like System Shock 2 and Skulltag (the Doom co-op mod) in full-screen. The games will start up just fine, but after about 30 seconds or so of gameplay, my display will begin to flip out as seen above. Once the flickering begins, the only way to get it to stop is to do a hard reset; Ending the application via task manager does nothing.
Just recently found out about the Vivaldi browser, to those who have used it, what do you think about it?
Just recently found out about the Vivaldi browser, to those who have used it, what do you think about it?
I've used it a bit, it's pretty cool but still obviously is a preview. Paul Simon has used it extensively from what I understand, so he might pop in here.
What the fuck is wrong with Amazon's website, guys? It looks like someone fucked up all their formatting. I had Amazon Prime for a long time and the site looked really nice. It was easy to navigate and everything worked. I cancelled my prime because they wanted to increase the cost of membership and it seems like not long after that, the site changed to look like a fucking 5 year old designed it. I've noticed it has this problem on 3 different browsers (chrome, firefox, and ie), with and without adblock and my antivirus on, and even looks like this at my work computers. Anyone know what the hell is going on? I can't look at other photos of product and it's a pain in the ass to use now. Looks like the CSS is fucked to all hell. Have no idea how to fix it though. Its working fine on my end. I assume you've tried clearing your cache and hitting Ctrl + F5?

But it wiped all my saved logins even though I fucking told it to not wipe passwords. This is gonna be a fucking nightmare. Also I can't type 'en' and hit tab and get a search bar for wikipedia anymore. ditto 'dic' for dictionary and 'urb' for urbandictionary and 'thes' for thesaurus.com [editline]20th May 2015[/editline] Goddamnit I also lost all the little window thingies in the new tab screen that went to webpages I go to often

In chrome is there a way to enable/disable extensions per browser? Whenever I enable or disable it does it for all of my machines. Like I don't need netflix ultrawide support or enhanced steam for anything besides my desktop, I don't need IE tab and an n-able extension on anything but my work machine, I don't need Linux scroll on any Windows machine.
that's not supposed to happen unless you explicitly tell it to
It's ok I fixed it. Turns out if you just go to that site a shitload of times it'll let you do the tab thing so I went to each of the sites I wanted to do it with like 25 times by spamloading new tabs of it.
Does anyone know of a good place I can get older laptops (early 2000s-ish) for a low price? Everything on craigslist here either has a dead mobo, is smashed into pieces, or is so filthy that it could make a septic tank repairman vomit (or it's all of the above) and the thrift stores just assume it's a computer and computers are very high tech and expensive so they charge 400 dollars for a 2002 gateway with 256 MB of ram.
