That's odd. I'm not aware of a monitor limitation in SLI mode. I don't think that is supposed to happen in the first place, considering you can use 3 monitors on a single card and part of the appeal of SLI is additional power for multiple monitors.
So I'm fucking stupid. I swear the little balloon that shows up when you try to select both says "You can only select one or use span mode". I just went to take a screenshot to prove you wrong and it actually says both need to be on the same card. I am fucking retarded.
Okay, thanks for your reply. As it turns out, I had a whole bunch of shit mixed up in my head, and after checking some receipt E-mails I found that when I got my SSD, I did, in fact, also upgrade my Mobo, CPU, and RAM (I thought I had upgraded those things some time before the SSD). Probably good information to have. Anyway, yes, I'm running Windows 7 x64. I would like to point out that when I said it boots itself back up 9 times out of 10, it's more like 9.5 times out of 10. There's just really random, rare occurrences where it shuts down and stays shut down, and it doesn't seem to be cause by any programs running before the shut down.
And that Windows 7 install is fresh with that SSD right? Make sure you have all your motherboard drivers installed, maybe that's causing the shut down issues. Other than that, I honestly don't know.
I'm wondering if my psu is faulty. I was just watching youtube and my pc suddenly turned off. Tried turning it back on and nothing. Unplugged it and tried a different power cord. When i plug it in thr blutooth dongle lights up for a second then loses power. Dunno if its the psu or something wrong with my motherboard. Power led and fans came on, but wouldnt put out a signal to my monitors, now it wont turn on again.
I just upgraded a computer from a Pentium 4 524 to a Core 2 Duo E6700. Now when I turn it on, the fans spin up but nothing shows on the display. Did I do something wrong here? Is the new CPU not compatible?
I know this question must have been answered in the past, but if you have 2 4 core CPUs, no H/T, on the same motherboard, will a game that utilizes 8 threads be able to take advantage of both CPUs?
And that Windows 7 install is fresh with that SSD right? Make sure you have all your motherboard drivers installed, maybe that's causing the shut down issues. Other than that, I honestly don't know.
[del]Well, I fixed it. I'm not sure what exactly did it, because I kind of just went ahead and tried multiple things at a time because I wasn't really thinking about it. I did try reinstalling some drivers, but I'm pretty sure I'd had them all installed in the first place. So I decided to try searching around google one more time and somehow in ten minutes I found the answer I couldn't find after hours of searching before. Pretty sure this is what fixed it: I could swear I've tried something like this before, so maybe one of the drivers really was messed up? I did actually have to change those settings though. Regardless, the issue is finally solved. Thanks a ton man.[/del] nope nevermind not fixed. I just somehow managed to get lucky and it stayed off after shutting it down twice in a row. None of the settings I changed reverted, wake on lan stuff is still disabled.
Switching from a stock CPU fan to a aftermarket one There's still a bunch of solution on the CPU from what came on the stock The aftermarket came with a bunch of solution in a pen What should I do? Is it fine to do nothing?
Clean it off with some isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip.
Common item?
Common item?
Yeah, rubbing alcohol, but normal rubbing alcohol usually doesn't have the higher percentages. Over here at least you can get it in any supermarket or drug store. Basically anything 90% or up will do fine.

An used Asus P5G41T-M LX V2 I got a couple days ago freezes permanently when saving BIOS settings, all of the other hardware, save from the CPU which had been sitting on a shelf and I'm pretty sure works fine, is sourced from my last computer and had been working fine so I don't suppose it's got anything to do with it. The issue persists after wiping CMOS via battery/jumpers and updating the BIOS. Anything I can do about it?
Tried flashing a bios to it?
Tried flashing a bios to it?
As I said, updated it from 304 (first release) to 503 (latest) with their tool, seemed to go alright, it reports the new version. If there's a "harder" method to do it I'd be alright with trying it.
Sounds delicious. Anyway not really. You're essentially setting up a type of RAID system and setting up an entirely new filesystem. Unless you can move the data somewhere else temporarily its sort of a "tough tits" situation. You should probably just come up with a way to organize your files across drives. You wouldn't be able to combine it with your C: driver without reinstalling Windows anyway.
Haha whoops. Yeah I don't want to combine the C drive because that's my SSD so I want to keep that seperate. I don't mind having the folders seperate it's pretty much just the file organization that's a pain. Like I have my User folder on my drive but the Documents points to a different one and it's all messy and want to fix it
I was thinking about getting a GTX 960, but it's made by a lot of different companies with slightly different prices. Is it all just extra fans and heatsinks, and other stuff like that? Are there any manufacturers I should avoid? Is spending an extra $40 worth it on a base $200 card?
Can you reuse parts of an old computer? (Case, Optical Drive, Hard Drive)
Can you reuse parts of an old computer? (Case, Optical Drive, Hard Drive)
Yes. I don't think I've bought a new optical drive since 2004.

I know for a fact that even though the sockets may be the same (lga775), not all mobos will have cross compatibility between p4's and c2d's. [editline]22nd January 2015[/editline]
How exactly do i make it not timeout each time? I'm not 100% what would even be blocking the packets. Been trying to figure out what's up with my internet, been getting >200+ ping a lot recently. Really annoying when trying to play games finally got a traceroute from my router itself
connect directly to the modem and see if the problem persists. if so, call up your ISP. there isn't really much that you can do on your side minus the basic troubleshooting steps like power-cycling your modem/router.
Stupid question inbound: I have a 1x8gb ram at the moment. If I get another 1x8gb , will it have to be the exact same make or can it be a completely different make?
Stupid question inbound: I have a 1x8gb ram at the moment. If you pick another stick of RAM that is slower than your existing one, that one will have its speed and voltage dialed down to match the slower module.
Does Nvidia's new MFAA support the GTX 780?
It's not really a problem anymore with modern memory controllers. Just try to get as close to the current stick as you can and you should be fine. That said, there still is a slim chance for issues.
Does anybody know if this laptop and specs are good? http://laptops-specs.blogspot.com/2011/07/acer-aspire-4339-as4339-2618-specs.html My old Thinkpad T61p fried itself a couple weeks ago and I need a pc now. I found this Acer on craigslist for really cheap. Thanks in advance.

Would it be okay for just an emergency pc? It's only $175 usd. You think there might be a better alternative?
Would it be okay for just an emergency pc? It's only $175 usd. You think there might be a better alternative?
You might be able to find a Thinkpad T410 for that, which would be fantastic.
