My friend wants to setup a RAID 1 to use on windows 7, but he can't do it in windows 7's disk management because he only has the home edition. He does have a Fedora live USB on hand however. Is there a way to setup the RAID 1 in there and use it in windows 7?

Does his motherboard support RAID 1? Why does he want to set up a RAID 1 for his Windows?
Probably an idiotic question, but...
If I took some fine grit sandpaper to my wacom graphics tablet, would that break it horrifically?
Reason why I'm asking is because mine's 7 incredible years old and used so much that the drawing surface has worn down to a very smooth shine, meaning it's lost it's paper-like texture that made it so good to draw on. It still works but it's becoming increasingly difficult to draw on something that's slicker than snot, and I don't have enough money for a new one.

He wants to make sure he doesn't lose data due to hardware failure.
He wants to make sure he doesn't lose data due to hardware failure.
RAID 1 will protect against hardware failure, but it sounds like he'd be better off with offline backups, which protect against hardware and software failure.
He wants to make sure he doesn't lose data due to hardware failure.
Offline backups is definitely a better solution. RAID 1 is for uptime. Not a backup.

From what I know about his setup, he already does that frequently. I honestly don't care either way, I just want him to get his computer back online and this is the last thing he wants me to find out how to do before he does so. He's probably just going to end up upgrading to the professional version so he can setup a software RAID 1, he was just hoping to save money.
Hey guys, so I'm thinking of upgrading either my CPU or GPU for The Witcher 3 but I'm curious what you think would make the biggest difference in performance?
My current specs:
CPU: Intel i5 2500k @ 3.30 GHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 750 Ti
RAM: 8GB
I'm between upgrading to either the i7-4790k @ 4.00GHz OR the GTX 970 4GB model.
I'm also aware I'll have to upgrade my mobo as well to fit the new processor, so I'm hoping not to push over $600 for the upgrade.

Software RAID one really isn't worth the money tbh. He can probably find a used 2 port hardware RAID card for the same price and it'd be far better.

GPU, overclock your CPU.
GPU, overclock your CPU.
Wow very fast reply!
I don't use any sort of cooling system besides my cases fans, so how far do you think I could push it?
It generally runs between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius currently just as a reference.

What motherboard do you have?

Gigabyte Z68X UD4 B3
The UD4 is a solid board. Pick up this GPU and this cooler. You should be able to hit a nice 4.4ish on that cooler and with the 970 combined it'll be like a whole new system. What case do you have? Just so I can make sure the 212 EVO will fit.

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX31654 - This one here!
[editline]22nd May 2015[/editline]
Also I found a guy who was gonna sell me this sucker for $350 - http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX53902
Yep, I'd recommend the MSI one over the EVGA, but for retail at the moment the EVGA was $40 cheaper. That's a great deal in CAD.
[editline]22nd May 2015[/editline]
And yeah, the 212 EVO will fit in that case no problem. You can bump it up to a better cooler if you're really interested in overclocking, but the next big step up is $70 so I dunno if you want to go that far.

Yeah it's a great deal. thanks for your help friend! :)

Guess I'm making a thread.
Ever since Facepunch continuously and repeatedly shit the bed last night, I've noticed the bottom of every page getting stretched by this vast expanse of empty space.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/mznMzZD.png[/t]
Am I the only one experiencing this, and if so, how do I fix it? Ctrl + F5 doesn't make it go away.
Hasn't Facepunch had this on and off on various browsers for ages?
Is it normal for my PC to be so loud when playing games?
I mean it sounds like I am in a data center server room or something.
Mostly happens when playing Witcher 3.
CPU: FX-8350
RPM: 5533
Temp: 52 C.
And Video card
GTX 970 Strix
74 C
RPM: 1640
Are all CPU's so loud with stock fans?
Thinking of upgrading my processor once Skylake drops, do you think it's worth it? I currently have Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.4GHz and I haven't overclocked it at all or anything. Here's a link to more deets too http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504&cm_re=i5-3570k_3570k-_-19-116-504-_-Product

Probably not, although it really depends on how much you're willing to spend for how much of a performance improvement.
Considering many people are running a gen or two behind you without having difficulty, I don't think Skylake is really necessary.
Well, I am also getting pieces together to make a living room PC, so I'm kind of donating my old desktop PC parts to that project and seeing as I need to get a CPU for it anyway, I could just upgrade my desktop's and donate the old one to that project. I know it wouldn't be crazy returns, I don't really mind too much, but if I'm going to buy a new CPU should I just get Skylake anyway you think?
I have this old Geforce 210 laying around and I want to put it into my second PCIE slot to run my second monitor rather than having both displays run off my primary GTX 650 Ti. But for some reason Nvidia's new updates disable the Geforce 210, and I would have to downgrade drivers to get it to work.
Is there some way to run the 210 with its own driver without downgrading drivers?
Im not trying to SLI them, if thats what you're thinking.

Just run both off the 650ti, it's really not much impact. You could probably run it off your onboard too if you want.
So i upgraded about everything in my pc to be able to play the newer games such as TW3, i have a question though. My CPU hits around 75C when player TW3, is that safe? I'm still sporting the stock CPU cooler so i can always upgrade it since it is rather cheap. can hoover between 75 -80 depending what the fuck i'm doing.

That's high, but not unreasonably so. You should be fine.
Hey, I'm looking to buy a new monitor. I mostly play games such as CS:GO & GMod with a fair bit of scripting. The requirements are it has to be under 100$ and available at Best Buy (I know).
Any suggestions?

Alright, thanks for the quick reply! Since it's a holleday tomorrow and Monday i will be buying a new cpu cooler after that. Any suggestions what i should buy? i have a i-7 3770 3.4ghz

Did it anyways with 1000 grit sandpaper, still works and the texture isn't like trying to draw on a pane of glass with a wet bar of soap anymore.
10/10 would recommend
