Can't afford to buy Canned Air right now, is it possible to use a light makeup brush(unused) and just gently brush off the dust from the motherboard and graphics card?
If not, are there any other homemade makeshift ways to clean the dust from your PC?
EDIT: just read something about going to the gas station and paying 50 cents to use the compressed air hose lol, anyone know anything about this?
EDIT2: think i might just try a combination of lightly using compressed air from the gas station and extremely gently using a brush to loosen the dust.

Gas station compressed air sounds like a really bad idea. Some types of compressor give the air a static charge, which is bad for electronics, and you'll have no idea what kind you're using.
The makeup brush should be fine, I think.

Is there a way to tell Chrome that I'm not a fucking dimwit and have it allow running executables from the Downloads page? While still staying on the stable browser channel?
I'm willing to switch to Chromium and patch it out as well if you know what file(s) to look at in the source code.
Fix one BSoD, get another one :(
Again playing GTA V online, just walked into the strip club :v:

I'm not so sure if this is thread worthy, but I have a ongoing problem. I work for a ISP and occasionally we have Rogue IPs that cause network issues such as slowdowns, internet going in and out, and even to the point that it shuts down the equipment and we cannot get into it. We found the root of the problem though, it is Apple Routers, I think an AirPort Extreme, that customers got.
It is extremely annoying because in the past month, it caused problems in the network, and we have to assign a ticket to get out there to fix this. It really cuts into our day when this sort of thing happens, especially when customer rant on how we are not doing our job.
The question is if there is any solution on how to get these AirPort Extreme Routers to stop causing issues on our network? I'm not sure if there is a quick solution to fix this problem, so I posted in this thread.
Pretty sure everyone is familiar how often we get graphic artefact questions
It's pretty much built for efficient headphones in mind so your earbuds and Sennheisers should pair well with it. Hope its to your liking.
Just an update, the HiFiMe Sabre Tiny came today. Holy damn this sounds good. Everything just sounds much richer. Its probably even better than the onboard, which wasn't bad to begin with. 10/10 would recommend. Thanks Sai.
Hey, been talking to my Dad recently, and I was wondering if it'd be possible to have some sort of homeserver, computer or tablet/iPad that can connect to wireless speakers to play music through? New house and we're doing a bit of upgrading of our electronics and such.

If you're super rich you could get Sonos. They're incredibly easy to set up and there are tons of options for it. For example, they only play music if you're in the room and the music follows you where you go. Does it have to be wireless? Wired sound > wireless in my opinion.
Hey guys, I'm kind of new to overclocking stuff, and I wanted to do it with my FX 8350, so I would like to know some info regarding good overclock values and the voltages (I'm being told that they should stay the same) since I bought a new cooler because the stock one was unbearable.
The parts I'm working with are:
ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0
Corsair CX600 Power Supply
Corsair Hydro H60 CPU Cooler
PNY Nvidia GTX 550 TI (Planning to upgrade to a GTX 970 soon-ish)
Some shit 2x4GB DDR3 666MHz RAM
Question to those of you with multiple hard drives.
How do you go about organizing them?
I have 1 SSD, which is my C drive windows is on.
I don't want this to contain my user folder because I have too much stuff that takes up space, such as music etc.
I've 2 other 2tb hard drives I would like my user profile to go on.
What's the best way of getting this setup?
So when I open a folder, the links on the left to Documents, Music, Videos etc link to the other folders
I have an i7 4790k thats supposed to run at 4.0 ghz full load to 4.4 ghz and the highest I ever saw it go was to 3.92 ghz. Is this normal? I was running Far Cry 3 at the highest settings, I had firefox minimized with multiple tabs, and using the task manager to check the processor speed.

I use my SSD for small and commonly used programs, and everything else gets dumped to an HDD. Nothing fancy.
However, for your question, go your profile folder in users, and right click properties on each subfolder. Set the library folder to a location on a HDD. This is the official way of doing it, and won't cause any complications, so Windows and programs won't use the SSD for docs, music, etc.
It will turbo UP TO 4.4Ghz depending on load, thermals and how threaded the task is.
So why is it still not running at the 4.0 ghz Processor Base Frequency if thats the full base non-turbo speed? I'm playing Far Cry 3 with firefox with multiple tabs minimized.
Different motherboards+XMP
you won't see a lot of difference though from 3.92~4Ghz
Whats XMP?
Hello. I would hope this is the right place for the building of computers, but if not, direct me to a better place.
I am looking to replace my computer's graphics card. The models of cards I am looking at are the gtx980 and gtx970.
For both of these, which maker is best? I've seen plenty of options but they're all rather vague and therefore not good enough to dump 300 dollars in and hope for the best. I can update this with specifics on my computer if needed.

MSI, Gigabyte, and ASUS are all superb choices. EVGA is decent too, but if you pick them, make sure you buy one with the ACX 2.0 cooler. The original ACX coolers had misaligned heat pipes that didn't cool the GPU as efficiently as it should.

Going on the assumption that all of these will fit in, I'd probably go with asus, because at least I am familiar on who those guys are.
There is a missing CPU 4 pin power plug you really should occupy that.

I have no idea what I'm doing
I'd honestly love to get all dirty with this thing, but I have the same knowledge as a grandmother would when it comes to this sort of thing, atm I'm pretty much copying off of my much more knowledgeable (and better funded) friends. 4 pin is going to have to remain lonely for a little while longer unfortunately.
well atleast it has better specs than your ps3

360 actually, and less likely to break and be replaced with a pile of plastic with no backwards comparability.
Do CDs read faster than DVDs on a super multi DVD burner?
So my headphones are a 6.3mm jack that came with a 3.5mm adapter to be able to plug into the front port of my computer.
But the 3.5mm adapter got bent and now the front speakers of the headphones don't work and I have to spin the jack in my pc till I can hear the headphones.
I went to purchase an adapter but now i'm seeing there's a difference between male and female adapters and I want to be sure I buy the right one.
It doesn't specify on the box, nor on the jack itself which they are.
Also anyone have a good place to buy little pieces like this for cheap? Walmart is $5 and I seen some places going for like 2 dollars but still don't know if I should buy M/F.
im wondering which part i should upgrade.
my intel i5-3750K with 3.4ghz, or my 670. Anyone have an idea which one to do for better framerates in more modern games.
I don't ever use Google+ but I have a question regarding it. I just got myself started with Google photos and I set it up so it uploads to Google Drive. After this I got a notification from Goolgle+ regarding these pictures, does this mean they're view-able on my google+ account? If so, how do I stop this?

So they're just another place I can view them and post on my Google+ if I decide to?
