OBS is the best I've used. Even supports hardware H.264 encoding with Intel and NVIDIA gpus (and AMD if you get the forked version). [editline]21st June 2015[/editline] Very corrupt system files, possibly from malware or a dying HDD.
It was on SSD, SSD only has 1767 hours on it. I had to reinstall OS to one of my hard drives, (HDD not SSD) and I can't stand the slow speed of it. I am backing up my SSD content then will try and reinstall OS on it again, it just worries me that same thing will happen again. It's a Crucial M550, many say new firmware should be installed, but even with old firmware - that shouldn't be happening I think.
Need sugestions for a good and free firewall program. I am using comodo firewall, but its eating my notebook`s cpu.
I have a Nokia X7 and I'm trying to find an actual flashlight app that uses the camera LEDs for Symbian OS...

What are people's backup solutions? I have tons of stuff strewn all across multiple external hard drives but I want to move onto a more regular solution because I've realised how important stuff I have on my laptop has become (research data, in-house MATLAB scripts and even irreplaceable photos). Luckily I only have a 128 gb SSD and even in that I don't have to back everything up just certain essentials. I was thinking of using CrashPlan (free version, backing up to one external hard drive and to a dropbox account). My biggest issue is I absolutely hate having anything running in the background that is not absolutely necessary. I don't even care about daily or continuous backups so even once a week/every two weeks would be acceptable. I thought of going for the 5$ a year plan but I have so little trust in any and all online companies. Not because my stuff will be stolen (I trust my password and I don't have anything worth stealing anyway) but because I don't know how long they'll last. I don't want to get too used to their cloud backup system, get complacent and three years down the line lose everything because they went under. Is that too paranoid?
I was having a cuppa while using the laptop, and like an idiot, some of the tea dripped down onto my laptop, less than a few drops, and fell onto it. The liquid seeped into the crack of the touchpad and the laptop shut itself of immediately. I jumped up and cleaned all the drops still left up, then i took the battery out and turned it upside down. I spent a few minutes taking the backing off and checking for any liquid, as far as i could tell, it was all out. Its sitting on my desk upside down atm. Honestly, how fucked am i? [editline]23rd June 2015[/editline] Nevermind, it seems like im fucked and i just have to wait 2 days for it to dry before i try to start it.
Internet is being ridiculously slow in random stages. For a few weeks multiplayer games are completely unplayable whilst browsing the internet appears to be fairly quick. On Warcraft i'm hitting like 3000 ping for example. I've done malware scans and nothing has come up, any ideas?
Is it worth trying to use the Clear CMOS jumper on my motherboard to reset the BIOS if pressing the power button on my PC turns everything on for a fraction of a second and then back off? My new power supply didn't solve the problem I was having, so I assume it's an issue with the motherboard. [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] The only reason why I ask is because the only thing I tweaked in the BIOS before it died on me was enabling the Intel XMP profile for my RAM.
Looking for a good, reliable 512 GB SSD. Anyone have any recommendations? A few options would be good, varying in price.
Crucial MX100/MX200, Samsung 850 EVO.
Thanks! Probably gonna go with the Crucial MX200.
I've desperately needed to replace the Thermal Paste on my laptop's GPU as it runs WAY too hot and has done so for god knows how long, is the stuff universal, like would any thermal paste work on both the CPU and GPU?

One of my mice lost its mouse feet pads, any way on replacement without buying a new mouse or am I basically gonna have to deal with it?
One of my mice lost its mouse feet pads, any way on replacement without buying a new mouse or am I basically gonna have to deal with it?
Depends on what mouse you got. Logitech sells replacements for certain models. [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] Or maybe you can find large pads and cut them yourself.
Oh good, my laptop was designed by SATAN, and you have to dismantle like 99% of the laptop to even get to my graphics chip.

Maybe I can find it somewhere, looks like it recently peeled off and might be found somewhere.
So, I recently moved into an apartment and the internet here is....not the best. I usually get 400kb/s download speeds, that occasionally peak at 1mb/s for a moment or two. I can usually live with this. Today, however, it would barely stay above 90kb/s. I went down to the office and asked them how fast it SHOULD be, and he told me it should be around 15mbps (~2mb/s), which I'm not getting anywhere near. I told him, and he said he'd put in a work order for it and someone should be around tomorrow. Problem is, my girlfriend has put in multiple work orders for different things around the apartment that have broken and, well, they FIX it, but not well at all. These are things like kitchen drawers and such. I don't really expect them to do a good job fixing the internet, which isn't even really a thing where they can just tighten some shit or whatnot. I feel like the right thing for them to do would be to call in someone from their ISP, but I don't know. My question is this: If the guy comes around tomorrow and it doesn't fix anything, how should I follow up? Should I request they call someone from their ISP to come down, or what? Along with that, is there anything I should try doing to remedy this? I've tried a shitload of fixes all day and gotten nowhere. I'm thinking if I can't get a reply here and nothing is fixed tomorrow I might make a new thread but I wasn't sure if it was worthy of one.
Do you know that they are not calling the ISP? Because honestly I can't think of much their own staff can do. At that point, it sounds like their is a bad signal between you and the ISP, and you usually need a tech to come out and diagnose that. Not much you can do personally, as any tech will still need permission to do any real work from the apartment owner.
Okay, I have Windows 10 installed on a 20GB partition. My main Windows 7 install is on the larger part of the 1TB drive along with all drivers and software. How do I set it so Windows 10 searches for / uses programs and drivers in the larger partition?
recently my computer has been like half freezing with all programs going unresponsive for a few seconds at a time, and I found out it was related to my disk highest active time in resource monitor. I looked it up, and it seems like this is a pretty common thing with WD hard drives. I have two 2tb hard drives right now, one with just my system reserved stuff and other with all my data on it. would it be worth it to try and switch to the other hard drive, or should I just buy new ones? for the former, how would I do it?
Do I seriously need these partitions to exist if they are 100% free? [t]https://akari.in/vqty[/t] [editline]24th June 2015[/editline] Oh shit I think I broke the virtual disk service :x
Anyone here know much about Gigabyte's RMA process? I had a mobo die on me (i think, fails to even spin up the fans upon hitting the power button, tested PSU alone and that starts up just fine, still fails with just mobo, cpu, and 1 stick of ram), and I don't want to wait 3 weeks for them to do something. If it's gonna take that long, then i'll just buy a new one from someone who isn't Gigabyte or MSI (known for nonexistent support).
[del]I don't really want to install shit onto ssd willy-nilly Which of these should be changed? Like I'm not familiar with the W6432Dir acronym Or common files[/del] fix'd
Hey, I got offered this build for $800 Motherboard : Asus CPU : i5 Hard disc : 1t GPU : Nvidia Dedicated 2g (Sorry he didn't give me anything specific) Ram : 8g Comes with a 19 inch screen. Yes or no? Btw, the dude told me that this build can run GTA 5 easily.
Really depends on the GPU. Get the specific one.
Really depends on the GPU. Get the specific one.
...and how current the i5 is, and whether the PSU included is any good, and regional hardware prices. If the monitor's 19" it's probably older (and not high-resolution)?

Self-built computer with 960 and non-overclockable i5 would cost 600-650 dollars, not more. [editline]25th June 2015[/editline] Actually there's GTX770 2GB version I was unaware of
fix'd
Don't do this without explaining how you fixed it. It's annoying to people who might be looking for it later.
