are those temps from your gpu and cpu?
Tested out again on a ~30 min session of borderlands.
Started on 95%+ GPU Usage, on 45c
CPU temp was around 50c
At the end, 45%- GPU Usage, 45-50c
CPU Temp was around 45-50c.
Already updated to latest a few days ago, going to try downgrading a bit.

Posting this here incase anyone has any ideas
TL;DR
-Updated BIOS for 6GB connection support
-Everything works fine except Windows won't boot(freezes on splash screen) with my 2nd 250GB HDD plugged in.
-SDD works and boots fine as long as the HDD isn't plugged in.
-HDD is empty, nothing installed on it except some downloaded files
2nd HDD plugged in freezes splash screen, if i unplug it, it boots up fine.
EDIT: Is there any way to reformat my HDD without rebooting my computer with the HDD plugged in? Like can I just plug it in while it's turned on and start up DiskPart in CMD or something to format?
Windows 10 or Ubuntu?

What do you want to do with it?
I picked windows 10. It looks really nice.
So I installed Windows 10 alongside my Windows 7 install - I now have encountered an issue that I don't know how to solve.
I have a big 4TB hard drive that I have all my steam games installed on. With Windows 10, I am prompted to reinstall the games, but I already have the games on this big hard drive I already have. My Windows 7 install of Steam can access the games folder already, so here's my question...
How do I share Steam game installs between operating systems? I'd really not like to go through all the trouble of installing my games again and wasting space.
My current idea is to install the game, delete it, and create a shortcut to the drive with the game installed, much like the way Steam Mover does it. But the plan isn't elegant and I was wondering if there was another way I could go about this.

Thanks, but no. When you add a new steam folder the folder must be empty.
Can upgrading a CPU increase file transfer speeds? I upgraded my paperweight fileserver and it seems to be capable of moving files faster.

If it was bottlenecked on CPU, yeah. That's not a common scenario but it can definitely happen, especially if it was general PC hardware instead of something designed for file serving.
Can upgrading a CPU increase file transfer speeds? I upgraded my paperweight fileserver and it seems to be capable of moving files faster.
It can, but I've only really noticed it on very weak hardware like 15 year old computers or low powered ARM servers. Normally you get capped by the physical speed of the drive before the CPU caps it.
Can a GPT Windows live in harmony with a MBR Windows? I'm assuming they wont, but hey, it's worthy information to know.

GPT and MBR are both file types Windows can read. It should be fine, assuming you're not trying to read GPT off XP or older.
Well, that was easier than I thought. I just created a junction point between the two steam folders and bam, all my steam games show up. Thank you NTFS for having at least one useful function.
i need a new monitor for my pc, the one i wanted is more than double it's US$ price in AU$ so that's out of the fucking question. i just want something good for gaming.
I'm getting a 980 Ti, will my i7 3770 bottleneck it?
im running elementry os and i can't install steam
and heres the issue

I can't type the password
What do you mean you can't type the password? There won't be any *** or XXX that shows up when you type a sudo password in Linux, it'll just stay blank. (I have no clue how familiar with Linux you are, I mean no offense if that seems like a very basic thing)
-snip- i guess it doesn't show up but i got it to work i just installed elementry os today so yea...
nvm this came up

So I've had a network related issue for a while and I'm a bit concerned as to whether I should make a thread or just post it here. I already have a temporary fix for the issue (which incidentally isolated the problem) but I'm looking for a more permanent fix. The issue pertains to google chrome as a browser.
I'm buying a Tablet and I'm torn between the Nvidia Shield Tablet with the controller for £290 or the Samsung Galaxy TabPRO 10.1" Tablet for £200. Both are 16GB.
Does anyone have either and which one is worth buying and has better value?

Post it here. It isn't a very fast moving thread anyway.
I have a vapor-x 290 and noticed this gpu usage graph in a sawtooth pattern when I was playing BF4.

This graph makes me think bottlenecking, but I have a 4690k overclocked to 4.7 ghz so I doubt it. Anyone know what's going on?
Also its really noisy when I thought the vapor cooler was supposed to be quiet.

To put it simply, my internet sucks. (Speedtest result) Of course there isn't really much of a way to fix it (if at all). My current housing situation forces me to use wireless (The router is too far away to use an Ethernet cable.) which has its own set of issues which I've spent time meticulously resolving. Using a cable does not fix my problem.
Most recently, my internet has had a very consistent lag spike that started around two or three months ago. It causes massive out-bound delays (all inbound packets are perfectly fine). I did a bit of testing and found that it was every seven minutes. The spike also affects other computers in the house, causing them to have similar lag as myself.
If you're in disbelief that it is that consistent, here's a bit of proof.

It took a long time to figure it out and through some fluke and oversight, I finally managed to pin the issue on Google Chrome through the use of windows' built in resource monitor. Specifically, the issue seems to be chrome sending a good amount of packets (for my terrible internet) to . . .

After a bit of research, 1e100.net seems to be a domain owned by google.
Disabling all my extensions yields no results and completely turning off chrome (and disabling it from running in the background when it's not open) immediately fixes the issue. I haven't gotten around to testing if other internet browsers cause the same issue. I have disabled a number of options in google chrome that might have had any sort of relevance to my issue, none of which have aided my current situation. For now, my temporary solution is to simply not use chrome while playing a game. I would prefer to be able to use it as a matter of convenience and I would prefer to continue using it as it has a few extensions, bookmarks, and cookies that would be rather annoying to get back.
Dumb question but concerning using consoles with higher than normal refresh rates (60hz), has there been any widespread technical issues doing this?
To be more specific, if I'm using HDMI on a 144hz monitor connecting it to a Playstation 4, am I at any technical risk doing this?
Might be a dumb question with an obvious answer, but doesn't hurt to ask.

No, the monitor will refresh at the rate of whatever's driving it. 144Hz is the max your monitor can do, and the minimum doesn't matter because it will just re-display the last frame if it falls too slow (and that's usually around 24Hz for the minimum framerate anyways).
