When do the broadwell chips release? Soon? It's about that time I build a new computer.
When do the broadwell chips release? Soon? It's about that time I build a new computer.
Shortly from what I understand. Though Skylake is still due this year.
Stupid question again, but is there any possible way to do a gpu passthrough on windows with the built-in integrated graphics on my cpu without paying up the ass for virtualization software?
Anybody know what might cause iTunes to delete non-iTunes music files from two different computers under the same account?
Stupid question again, but is there any possible way to do a gpu passthrough on windows with the built-in integrated graphics on my cpu without paying up the ass for virtualization software?
Not really no. Is there a particular reason you need it? The 3D accelerator driver in most VM software is sufficient for most VM scenarios. Unless your doing heavy graphics stuff, in which case you integrated graphics would help very little.
I have this computer that has a PCI Modem in it, and I want to use it for HylaFax on Debian. The problem is, although lshw shows the card, I can't find the serial port for it. How can I find the serial port for it? EDIT: Nevermind, I think I've got it sorted out.
Could anyone suggest me a reliable software for defragging and repairing disk partitions?

The only reason I wanted to use a GPU pass through was for some old games that broke under the VM 3d driver.
Can I plug a case fan into a CPU fan header? I added a fan at the top of my case and I have it hooked up directly to the PSU but there is a open CPU fan plug open near by.
Liquid cooling - I can't find any decent/reputable pre-built CPU liquid cooling solutions that are built to fit LGA 1150 socket type. (I have an i5 4670k.) Are there any within the $60-$100 range that do fit that socket type that you could recommend? If not, I'm gonna probably do a custom loop to include cooling for my 2 GPU's, though I'm really nervous about doing that because I've never done it before.

And even then is experimental. I don't own a PC with Vt-d so I couldn't test it if I wanted to.

Those are both the top performing units, and both will work on 1150. Also a custom loop is not nearly as daunting as you think. I was nervous as fuck when I was planning mine but when I actually started I realized it wasn't bad at all.
So a friend has asked me to build him a new PC, the parts I can source just fine it's the fact I need to decide on an affordable but also a performing processor and I don't really know if Intel or AMD. a top end i5 maybe? or an really high Ghz AMD I really don't know
Anybody know what might cause iTunes to delete non-iTunes music files from two different computers under the same account?
Maybe you have that "organize my music library" feature turned on?

Why don't you have your CPU cooler plugged into that fan header?
You can, but its speed will be determined by your CPU's temperature. Why don't you have your CPU cooler plugged into that fan header?
I have 2 CPU fan headers, and only one fan on my cooler. The case fan is right above the CPU so I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to use the spare CPU header for that.
RSS readers, what do you guys recommend?
RSS readers, what do you guys recommend?
Firefox Live Bookmarks.
Need some opinions here. I have my desktop PC acting as a media server for Plex, which several people connect to. This means the PC is on all the time which uses a lot of power since its a big system. Is there a better option for the Plex server? I have a Raspberry Pi, but I heard things like it not being powerful enough to transcode stuff and shit but I duno. Any opinions or suggestions would be great
Some of the YouTube videos I want to play have no video (black screen), just audio. How can I fix this?

You can probably find one with a cracked screen or bad keyboard for dirt cheap.
Is there any go-to 2.1ch speaker system? Not looking for enthusiast quality, just "decent" to "good".
any idea what this drive (E:) might be? it popped up out of nowhere and I can't access it there's no security tab where the link leads
So I just had the weirdest network issue ever. When I booted up the PC this morning, my network card wouldn't find my Ethernet cable, even though it was plugged in. It did not blink any amber/green lights either. So I started doing to good ol' troubleshooting, seeing if the card had broken or if it'd work with older drivers (it's a Realtek PCIe GBE family controller). After hours of trying different methods, like power cycling, switching cables etc I gave up hope. So as a last resort I thought I should check the BIOS menu and see if there's anything I could do there. Opened it up, and saw nothing of interest. Closed it down and booted up the PC, and then suddenly I have a connection again. Has anyone ever had a similar problem? And if so, did you figure out the cause?
So I have a sound card that has to go right in front of my graphics card (due to the limited amount of PCIe on this motherboard). It blocks one of the fans. My CPU is idling at 44, my motherboard at 35, and my GTX 980 at 64. Is this the cause? I want to fix it, but there is an issue. This case/sound card came together with the prebuilt that this case originally housed. The sound card is attached by wires to the case, there is no connector that I can detach. Is there any way I can fix this? Can I use the connectors on I/O of my motherboard?

That shouldn't even be mounted.
Casual gamer, my grandma had a Dell Latitude d610. For my birthday in a couple of days, I was gonna fix that thing up and see if I could run heroes of the storm. Thoughts?
I've been having a problem with my headset. It's a Corsair Raptor HS40 with a USB plug and when I plug it in my computer doesn't recognize it. I also get some sort of error whenever I shut down my computer.
My internet as come to a standstill. I pay for 40MB down and 10MB up, usually sits around 37/9. Last night it got too laggy to play FIFA, and I cant even join Arma games. Used speedtest and got results 20down 4up. Not great but still shouldnt be getting problems. Currently downloading a popular torrent seed at 40kb/s, id usually be getting about 2mb/s. Xbox tells me I have 500 latency whilst speedtest tells me I have between 30/50 ping
