I'd recommend just turning off the wireless on the optimum and picking up a half decent AP. They're not very expensive.
I think everyone just wants to use a cord at this point. Will bridging the first router with another be complicated or something? I basically wanna get 2-3 more lan ports on the other side of the apartment without sacrificing speeds (like 60 feet away from the router). Should I get something like this?

Well it's a pretty shit switch, but it should get the job done without issue.
Is there a difference between connecting that switch to the Optimum or this router to the Optimum? Since I already have the tpl, can't I just make it work like a switch does somehow?

Might be able to? Perhaps if you can configure it as an AP with ethernet switching ability.
Having a bit of trouble installing Windows 10 on my desktop.
Using the Media Creation Tool, it goes through the preparations without any hassle. Upon restarting to begin the installation process, however, it doesn't even get past 0% before restarting back into Windows 7 with the following error:

When I googled the error code, most of the results were about upgrading to 8.1, and unplugging external hard drives solved this problem. I don't have any external drives, however, and the two HDDs I have contain literally all my programs, so I'd rather not unplug those. Could someone give me some insight as to what the error code means, and how I could solve this problem?
I accidentally disabled (or unistalled) "hid keyboard device" from the keyboard section at the device manager, thing is, my keyboard wont work now and even while i still have "standar ps/2 keyboard" in the same section, "hid keyboard device" is gone and for good since i cant bring it up again with any way. Does someone know what could i do? Thanks https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n...415a906752afcb
Edited:
Seems like the keyboard works on the menues previous the win7 start, it wont even work on safe mode

found this at the dxdiag section. It does not say i have any keyboard on board, which is extremly weird
i was able to see the hidden devices at the keyboard section at device manager. there were 3, two were the "hid device keyboard" but they were greyed out and said they werent connected. So i unistalled them in an attemp to make it reinstall the drivers, but they just went out to never appear again.

Try pulling up device manager and then clicking Scan For Hardware Changes.

doesnt do anything. I´ve been trying to install other drivers in the keyboard slot but none of them work.
My cousin, who has the same pc, showed me his keyboard stats:

mine used to be like this but there is only ps/2 now.
Like i said, i found the Hid keyboard device greyed out, and it said the device was not connected. Tried to reinstall it but it went away and never came back.
quick lil head scratcher for you guys, My brother and I both have Wired connections but a few times a day his internet will just disconnect and the only way to fix it is to reboot his whole system, any ideas?

Fixed this. Turned out windows decided to uninstall my drivers. :v:
Just had to take my Nvidia GPU out.
Got a nice chunk of change recently. Most of it is going away for the long haul but decided to make some computer upgrades. Looking to buy a new GPU in the $200-300 range. Want to be ready for the Oculus Rift, but would also like to push graphics up a little bit on the more modern games coming out soon. Currently running a HD 6870, an i5 2500K @ 4.0 GHz (I'm also gonna get a new cooler so I can OC the CPU a bit more), and 8 GB RAM. Also on a 650 Watt PSU
I'm also in no rush to upgrade. What do you guys think? I'm thinking maybe an R9 390, but maybe it would be wise to wait a bit.

If you want an AMD card, the only 3XX cards that aren't rebranded 2XX cards are the 390X($400ish) and the 395X2(will cost nearly as much as a Titan). If you're OK with using Nvidia, the 970 is probably the best in terms of performance to cost right now.

I'm using Tom's Hardware as a jumping off point. The 970 is also listed there in the price range I'm shopping for but the question becomes is the 970 worth ten dollars more than the 390.

I'd like to avoid Nvidia truth be told. I mean if it's a substantially better deal I would, but I don't like the monopoly Nvidia has right now and would like to support AMD if I can.

Rebrand =/= bad. They still perform damn well and are priced competitively. Also the 390x is a rebrand.

Then get a 390. You won't go wrong with it, and I completely understand not wanting to support Nvidia.

The 9XX Nvidia cards run considerably cooler than the AMD cards and draw a hell of a lot less power, even at full load. I have a pair of 970s in SLI with a 750W PSU and I've never seen either card go above 65C. The 390 has a TDP of 208w, while the 970 has a TDP of 145w, meaning it inherently runs cooler as it uses less power.

Running cooler is purely a function of cooler efficiency, nothing to do with actual TDP.

TDP is Thermal Design Power, which is figured based upon how much heat a computer component would generate during a normal real world situation, such as running a game. A higher TDP means that it needs a more effective cooling system to keep it from overheating.
I checked around on some tom's hardware benchmarks of Nvidia and AMD cards(specifically the GTX 980 and the R9 390X, yes i know it's not a 390 but it's close enough) and found that the reference cooler on a GTX 980 is as good as MSI's Frozr cooler on a 390X(only because i couldn't find a good review of the reference 390X). They both ran at approximately 80C under gaming conditions, but the 390X drew close to 300w of power, while the 980 was using only around 190. The Gigabyte Windforce cooler on an overclocked 980 kept it under 65C pretty effectively under the same conditions.
I have links to both of these benchmarks, and I'll post them if you want me to.
I'm honestly not concerned with power draw or cooling. I believe my 650W PSU is more than adequate for either one. (AMD recommends 550W minimum for this card.)
I found this video that found the same as your results. Similar thermals, but the 390 draws more power.

I'm leaning heavily towards the 390. I'm satisfied with my current AMD card so I'm happy to shop with them again, the 390 has slightly better performance, it seems to be adequate for when the Oculus Rift comes out, it seems like it will have a good pair of legs and last me for many years, it's slightly cheaper, and I would rather support AMD over Nvidia.

The MSI version in particular seems nice. Good to get that?

I realize this, what I'd arguing is that TDP has nothing to do with actual operating temperature. If you've got a passive card with 60w TDP there's a very real chance it'll run hotter than a 290x Lightning pulling over 300w.

That seems good. I have MSI's 970 and it does a damn good job, plus it looks really good. Bit jealous that the 390 comes with a back plate and mine didn't, though.
Alright, thanks guys. I'm gonna sleep on it, wait a few days, and if I still want it I'll pull the trigger.
Well, my Corsair H100i is making a grinding noise from the pump. It comes and goes, and I definitely know it's the pump, as I have replaced the fans with some Noctua NF-F12s that are hooked to a fan controller, and turning the fans off doesn't change the sound.
I also turned every fan in my case off, and it made the same sound. I read that it could be air getting into the pump, but I'm fearing that it will fail in the future. If it is failing, I don't think I'll be RMAing it as Corsair has been known for sending out DOA units to people, and I have no other way to cool the processor.

How long have you had it?
How much does the Razer Hydra cost? And is it any good? Someone is selling it for $50 nearby and amazon has it priced at $1000 CAD
How long have you had it?
I've had it for around a year now, 10-11 months at least.

That's a bit short for it to be corrosion related, but there's only so much glycol can do when you're mixing metals.

I'm thinking it's air getting into the pump, which explains how the grinding is intermittent. I'm on the fence, might scrap it and go with a Noctua D15 instead, which is what I should've done in the first place.

Or just go full loop. It's worth it. I kinda promise.
Or just go full loop. It's worth it. I kinda promise.
I looked at doing such a thing, and I don't know where to start. I did look into getting a basic loop that cooled only the processor and added it up to be around $300 in parts.
