I tend to drift towards ASUS laptops for that sort of thing. I've had two so far and they've been great. Neither one ever overheated or had any of the typical problems you hear about in relation to laptop gaming. Last one I got was around 1250-1500, ran pretty much everything on high for quite a while before I had to start turning a couple newer games down. I'd definitely check out what ASUS has to offer before making a final decision.
Hm okay I'll give it some consideration since my 5-year old desktop was an ASUS and wasn't awful. I don't exactly like how the ASUS laptops look, but that shouldn't totally influence my decision. Thanks.
My has the V15 and he likes it, but the V15 nitro is only $1000 on Amazon for essentially the same specs so you're basically paying $300 for 2 inches more screen You can find better for the price if you go with the V15, xoticpc.com or slickdeals.com
I also thought the V15 had the GTX 860M while the V17 had the 960M 4GB. Well while I imagine the 960M is better than the 860M I'll still compare them when I'm looking tomorrow. Also thanks for the websites I'll be sure to check them out! [editline]August 10th[/editline] Haha oh wow they're practically the same card. The 860M is almost as good and pretty cheap in comparison.
The MSI R9 390 is out of stock everywhere I look. The Gigabyte R9 390 is in stock. Is there any reason why I shouldn't get the Gigabyte? I'm told that apparently it can't be overclocked but no official details on that. [editline]10th August 2015[/editline] There's also two versions and I have no idea what the difference is between them other than one having a slight factory OC. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125805&cm_re=gigabyte_r9_390-_-14-125-805-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125792&cm_re=gigabyte_r9_390-_-14-125-792-_-Product [editline]10th August 2015[/editline] Okay, apparently the gigabyte is voltage locked. This is not a thing I plan on fucking with anyway.
I'd get the XFX over the Gigabyte.
Why is that? How does that stack up against the MSI?
I have disabled Wake timers for all power plans on my PC, yet they still seem to wake my pc:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg /waketimers Timer set by [PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files (x86)\TeamViewer\TeamViewer.exe expires at 14:37:37 on 11-8-2015. Reason: generic
If I put my PC to sleep it'll wake up at exactly that time, after that time passes it'll set a new timer for 30 minutes in the future

Teamviewer has a bug that makes it wake up pcs all the time right now, I reported me and they told me they are aware. Disable Service and close the application, only fix.
I am quite tired of certain issue. Well I got a problem that causes my PC to hang, whenever I play any game. It works fine with 3D modeling or rendering or watching movies. It hangs so badly that even num/caps lock are not responding, and only hard reset works. It happens in many different games both steam and non steam based, new and old. I have tried several things and googling for the issues but everything failed. I have tried reinstalling graphic card drivers, using display driver uninstaller. I have tried cleaning up registry files and defragmenting my disks. I have tried to re-install games too and verify their cache. I have runned scans from command line and it found some corruption but after using following commands it was no more. Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth It's not overheating either. I am running out of ideas. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Why is that? How does that stack up against the MSI?
Both motherboards i've bought from gigabyte had problems. an AM3 board that died within a month, and an LGA1155 board that decided to stop POSTing one day. Both were under warranty and both times i had to RMA twice cause they sent them back the first time as 'cosmetic damage' despite being perfect albeit dusty. The replacement LGA board wasn't even the same one. Never used their GPUs, but I wouldn't buy them myself. I've had good luck with XFX and MSi parts, though I think MSi has a better cooling unit
Teamviewer has a bug that makes it wake up pcs all the time right now, I reported me and they told me they are aware.
I've also got a question. I've got an HD that's going bad, and it's my primary. I was wondering if using the reset feature would allow me to transfer my OS install to my secondary HD?
Anyone got an answer?
Is this build worth 500 bucks? Xfx 7850 2GB vram I7 3770k 3.4ghz processor 8GB DDR3 1600MRZ ram This the current info I have on the system. Yes, I am missing a lot, reason for that is a long story but I can get the full system specs if necessary. Should I ask for more info, go for it, or should I forget about it? (I know basically nothing about computers btw)

Yeah, I'd like the rest of the system info but it should be a really good deal.
Thanks. The rest should be up to par with the above but Ill repost once I've got the full list of specs just to be sure. Out of curiosity, can you tell what kind of games a system with those specs could run? I figure you probably need more info but I still might as well ask

Pretty much on par with a 750ti, expect medium settings, maybe some high textures on games in the last few years at 1080p. [editline]12th August 2015[/editline] Luckily you'll be set with that CPU for a while still, so when your budget allows you can just throw in a new card whenever and it'll be good as new.
I know everyone is probably sick of seeing this question, so sorry for repeating what other people may have said. Is it worth doing a new/fresh install of windows 10, or should I upgrade from 7 to 10? The last time I did a clean install of win7 was over a year ago.
Quick ways post make&post webms? Out of MP4, also VLC failed to convert. Had even trouble googling, shamefully.

Then create installation media and do a clean install if that's what you wish.

I figured that splitting hairs over it was just being silly. The XFX seems solid and has no obvious problems I can see, they're both essentially the same with some cooling differences. Incidentally I ordered it on Monday night and it's arriving today, even though I got the cheapest 7-day shipping. So that's a plus.
Ever since I upgraded to Win10 my sound has been doing a weird thing. When I start a game, watch a youtube video, or begin anything with sound it is much louder than it should be. Then all I need to do is simply turn my sound down a click, and then right back up a click for it to snap back to where it should be. I have no freaking idea what is causing that or how to fix it but it's finally annoying me enough to ask about it.
In addition to the problem above I have another problem. After upgrading to Windows 10 my computer keeps going to sleep after 5-10 minutes of doing nothing. All my power settings in control panel and the new settings window both say my laptop should never do that but it still does. Any idea how to fix either one of these problems?
Just a question, but I just got new internet, and the guy setting up used this OpenVPN thing on my computer (I am not computer literate). He suggested I use it, but whenever I'm on it, facepunch says that my IP is banned. What's this mean? Also what is a VPN even? I'm reading it up but I'm too dumb to still understand it.

If he's using a large frequently used OpenVPN server, that's why. [editline]12th August 2015[/editline] A VPN basically makes a tube to a server. Image anyone looking into your connection can only see a pipe going to the OpenVPN server, and all your traffic is hidden in the middle. From the server, it branches out to communicate with whatever site, then come back to the server and back through the pipe to your computer. My GPU is at 93 degrees celsius. Doesn't help it's a Quadro 4000 (yes i know shit gpu). Any ways that I could cool it down?

Why am I getting updates for Office applications that I don't have? I only have Word, Excel and Powerpoint. And how do I prevent Windows update from downloading Windows 10? I even hid W10 upgrade but it still wants to download it.

Okay so I think my SSD is acting up. I have an SSD as my C Drive, so Windows 10 is installed on it. I have like 3 other HDDs in the PC, 2 2tb and 1 1tb. The SSD seems to be acting really bad lately. I used the timer on my phone to time how long it took to open the Recycling bin, and it took 27 seconds. However after opening it for the first time, it opens straight away. Is this normal or could there be a problem with my SSD? Could the other drives affect it?
