My GPU is at 93 degrees celsius. Doesn't help it's a Quadro 4000 (yes i know shit gpu). Any ways that I could cool it down?
Make sure you have a decent airflow in the case.
Replace the thermal compound on the GPU (this could void your warranty if you still have one). Your card probably has a 'turbine' type cooler, so it's highly recommended to clean potential dust from it's heatsink while you're at it.
At Work: I noticed that all my accounts get locked and trigger security check (facebook, vk.com, gmail etc..)
Then I noticed we are connected via UK, all my accounts say I logged in from UK.
Is there any logical reason why company would do it?
Will overclocking a cpu prevent bottlenecking on a factory overclocked gpu?
Want to know if It will be worth getting an i5-4690k along with a Z97 motherboard if it will prevent bottlenecking on a factory overclocked gpu like the Asus GTX 970 Strix.

I'm thinking of selling my laptop, but not sure how much it's worth in pounds. It has:
i7 4810MQ
1x8GB 1600MHz DDR3
GTX 860M
1TB HDD
1920x1080 15.3'' matte display
Backlit keyboard
It's a Fangbook 2, so a modified MSI GE60.
Oh, I nearly forgot, it's extraordinarily easy to open up and install an additional 1x8GB stick of RAM in it if wanted to.
Hey!
Could someone throw me some recommendations for laptops? my old one (MSI GE70) just shat himself and i don't feel like cleaning it up.
It worked well enough for me to game on but for this time around i think i'll get a desktop for that kind of stuff. until then though i need a pornmachine. preferably one that doesn't shit himself!
prize needs to hover around 600$
i ordered a 970 and i just remembered that announcement where dx12 allows for cross-sli between amd and nvidia (i have an hd 7770)
so would i be able to just stick my 970 with my 7770?

Assuming DX12 works with the 7770, then the answer is maybe, but only in the distant future where game developers purposefully integrate that feature into their games. So for the most part really the answer is no.
My Laptop started doing this weird thing where it wakes up from hibernation after 10-20 minutes.
I have tried some recommended solutions, like checking what can wake the computer and so, but nothing have helped.

any help?

also disconnected internet entirely, still booted up.
gonna try shutting the pc off and see if it still wakes up
So my laptop is getting noticeably slow to the point where one or two programs hang for up to a literal 5 minutes, opening programs slows down the entire laptop entirely, and getting any work done takes much longer than it should.
To fix this, I want to replace my 5400RPM HDD with either a 7200RPm one, or an SSD. The problem being that I'd prefer an SSD over an HDD so I never have to deal with slowness again, and I also need 750GB or 1TB of space.
[del]Can anyone recommend me an SSD with these specs? My current HDD is this one, for reference. (For some reason it states that it's a Samsung drive, but when I look at it on Speccy I am told that it is a Seagate model)[/del] Found a model, I'm going to stick with this one.
As a secondary request, what a good way for me to transfer all of my files from my current HDD to the SSD when I get it? Can I also get Windows 8.1 on the SSD like I have on my HDD?

I'm too lazy to find it right now, but I think that's been debunked.

Got teamviewer? because a few pages back someone here posted about a bug in it that woke the computer up with no reason.

Thanks for the reply. No I don't have teamviewer installed.
Could it have something to do with windows update? I'm running windows 10 and I recently updated. I also recently reinstalled steam after some issues, and I also recently installed BlueStacks. Should I try uninstalling them both, or would that just be a waste of time?
I can't remember if I've asked this before, but can anyone recommend me a relatively cheap (like $100 or lower) external DVD and Blu-Ray drive? The case I built my PC with doesn't have any 5.25" bays and I still want to be able to watch my movies with it. I don't want a drive that writes or burns DVDs and Blu-Rays, just one that will read/play them.

Thanks bud. Decided to look up the same model and order it from Amazon so I can use my free two-day shipping.
gonna be marathoning all of the harry potter movies next week ayy
I have a bit of a problem when playing some (mainly 4:3) games in fullscreen on my monitor..
This happens

When I look at the Intel Graphics Control Panel it looks like this
[t]http://catpanic.eu/upl/2015-08-15_20-50-09.png[/t]
Some of the options seem to be missing, they were that on my other laptop, and if I set it to a lower screen resolution the other options shows up
[t]http://catpanic.eu/upl/2015-08-15_20-52-13.png[/t]
How on earth do I make it actually full screen?
[editline]e[/editline]
Looks like it happens with every 16:9 resolution
I was looking at getting a Radeon R9 390 8gb GDDR5 or a R9 290 4gb GDDR5 and to be honest I need some advice. Anything I should know? Invest in more cooling? Is one of them not worth the trouble?
Or should I just tighten my belt and go for one of Nvidia's sooper cards?
My GPU is at 93 degrees celsius. Doesn't help it's a Quadro 4000 (yes i know shit gpu). Any ways that I could cool it down?
Check on Youtube/elsewhere if there is some good video of somebody disassembling their same exact card, completely open. Or some similar card.
Then you do the same. Disassemble your card completely. You will probably need a smaller-than-usual screwdriver. And then remove dust through whatever means, just remove it. Can of air can't usually reach all the places, so use like tooth picks or Q-tips or something.
And also you may have to reapply some thermal paste. I used "Arctic MX-4" thermal paste (which is meant for CPUs) and it worked just fine when bringing down the temperatures of an older PC's gpu.
MX4 has subpar on die performance so it depends if his GPU has an IHS

Note how the Steam UI still appears in the lower-right corner of your display. Your game does seem to use the native resolution of your monitor, it's just programmed to constrain everything it displays to a small (probably 1024x768?) rectangle in the upper-left corner.
Try running it at 1024x768 - or whatever the size of that game rectangle is -, then the scaling options in your display manager should work.

I think it's a problem with the game.
I set it in compatibility mode with Windows 8 and that seemed to work. What a no-brainer
How good of a gaming pc can I build with 1500$?
I already have a good HDD, and a 750 W power supply
What exactly is keyword 0x80000000000000
All I'm getting in search results is "use a bluescreen viewer", but I'm not getting it in a blue screen, so I can't do that.
How are you getting this error then?
I'm looking it up in Event Viewer after Windows tells me my GPU drivers hiccuped.
Ya know what driver set you're up? 355.30s or 360.55?
[editline]16th August 2015[/editline]
Update drivers anyway
355.60, and GeForce Experience says there's nothing later. I think I know what it might be, but I'm not sure.
See, when I bought this card, it was labelled as "2GB", but Windows/Linux say it's only 1GB. Now sometimes (rarely), nvidia drivers will fail under Linux, and I'll get some error message about addresses 100something to 1fffffffff (I'm bullshitting the number of digits). From there I just have to keep restarting my display manager like an old lawnmower until it kicks right back to life. The card shows no other signs of problems, even if I fire up Civ 5 right after this shit happens.
What I think is happening here is that whoever I bought this card from on Amazon actually really did send me a 2GB card, but 1GB of that memory is faulty. The drivers (or the card, not sure) normally compensate by disabling that memory, but occasionally that goofs and the drivers go "hey wait this is a 2GB card why don't HHHNNNNNNNGGGGGGG".
As in all matters though, I could be full of shit entirely.
well, no, it's labelled 1GB on both, it's just that I think there's some sort of thing that prevents the other 1GB from being used (and it doesn't always work)
now that i think about it, it could also be the power lines, i don't think this ever happened until after we moved
i turned down the settings in audiosurf 2 and it's quit its shit
i guess i'm actually taxing it too hard, i never thought i'd pull that off
Is 1080p will look good on 25 inch IPS? Or it's better to go with 23-24?
Is 1080p will look good on 25 inch IPS? Or it's better to go with 23-24?
Depends on the distance. I prefer 21" 1080p monitors, but if your desk would have it be further back than normal, 25" would be fine.
And honestly it won't really ruin anything to have slightly lower DPI. It's not really a big difference anyways.
Okay so I think my SSD is acting up.
I have an SSD as my C Drive, so Windows 10 is installed on it. I have like 3 other HDDs in the PC, 2 2tb and 1 1tb.
The SSD seems to be acting really bad lately. I used the timer on my phone to time how long it took to open the Recycling bin, and it took 27 seconds. However after opening it for the first time, it opens straight away.
Is this normal or could there be a problem with my SSD? Could the other drives affect it?
