Okay so I think my SSD is acting up.
I have an SSD as my C Drive, so Windows 10 is installed on it. I have like 3 other HDDs in the PC, 2 2tb and 1 1tb.
The SSD seems to be acting really bad lately. I used the timer on my phone to time how long it took to open the Recycling bin, and it took 27 seconds. However after opening it for the first time, it opens straight away.
Is this normal or could there be a problem with my SSD? Could the other drives affect it?
do you hear the hdds spool after you open the recycling bin? if you've deleted stuff from other drives it might take a while to load the bin as it needs to wake up the other drives.
Is this the only issue you have with it?

although either way 27s is a very very long time. if the above is the case one of your other hdds might be going bad.
yeah probably
Well shit, it happened again. I managed to grab a shot of a artifact in the Windows login screen:

Is it safe to bet that my GPU is dying?
that or buggy drivers.
Hope that's it's just drivers, expect it to be hardware.
Alright, so I'm getting a Pebble Steel tomorrow, but a black leather band just doesn't work for me. I'm stuck though on the best way to fix that. Do I get this watch band or do I grab some steel connect lugs so I can put on any band? I'm not quite sure if the color of the band is right, but I don't like the width the lugs add as my wrists are already a touch small.

If you really want to check, boot up a live CD of Ubuntu or something just to see if it's a driver or hardware issue. Ubuntu comes with drivers for most GPUs.

Yeah I do hear my HDD make a noise.
My recycle bin was empty just there, and I added a shortcut from my desktop to the bin, tried open it, heard a noise, and then maybe 5 seconds later it opened. So it opened quite quick when the item was just from the SSD, but 5 seconds still seems like a while to open it.
Best way to check if I have a bad drive?
So in Win+R, how come "eventvwr" works but "diskmgmt" doesn't? I'm pretty sure they're both msc files
Maybe not a proper thread for this, but still. Out of nowhere I started to have this weird lines on shadows in some games:

What the hell is causing this?

nope
EDIT: Actually, turns out there is an .msc for event viewer as well for some reason.

Download Crystal Disk Info and check smart data.
So after installing ubuntu on my laptop, I lost the ability to boot from USB. Trying to reinstall Windows for school purposes, tried all three USB ports on my laptop but i never get the boot from usb option, no boot from DVD option either, just the option to boot from my SSD (listed twice)
Any ideas?

Your OS should have nothing to do with that. Any other changes recently? BIOS reset?

Haven't made any other changes, tried to use restore defaults in BIOs but it didn't help.
And the BIOS settings is set to allow boot from USB?
There isn't even an option

I'll take a look at it when imgur stops breaking.

Yeah, USB boot won't show up there if it's not enabled in the BIOS. May be under security settings, or try "Add new boot option"

I looked under security settings and saw nothing and add boot option wants to to manually add paths to shit.. Like I said before I had no trouble booting from USB before,, and I didn't change anything in bios.

alright this isn't as bizarre as i thought it was then
thanks
I think my cat fucked up my external hardrive. Nothing happens when I plug it in, and when I get really close I hear a "tick tick tick tick" noise.
Anything I can do to save the stuff on there?
Can cables like these slow down the charging of my phone?

So, people use ssd and HDD drives at the same time, why?

The longer the cable the more resistance is has so your phone will get less power from that cable
The longer the cable the more resistance is has so your phone will get less power from that cable
Well, I'm more concerned about how thin the retractable cable is, rather than the length, as it only stretches to about 0.7 meters (about 2 feet?).
So, people use ssd and HDD drives at the same time, why?
It's just in order of decreasing speed and increasing storage capacity.
So my new build is going to have a pci-e SSD 120GB, two 480GB SSDs in raid 0 and then 2-2.5TB of storage space spread across 3 hard drives.
So the pci-e ssd is for boot and some common applications that I'd like to work lightning fast. Then the Raid 0 SSD array is for installing all my games and the like that I want to load up fast, and then the HDDs are for archival storage, so I can keep large amounts of video footage, PSDs, etc all on those where loading the data back up quickly isn't a huge priority.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but it came out of nowhere and is annoying me a lot.
For some annoying reason my Android phone has decided to hide all of my folders all of a sudden. Everything is still on the phone, but I can't see shit through my computer and while I can make a new folder called, say, Music2, I can't create a folder called Music as that would conflict with the old one. Any help? Yes, I have "view hidden files" enabled. I have no idea why it started doing this.

So moving a file makes it visible in Windows explorer because ??????
This makes no sense but seems to be a partial manual solution.
hdd
bulk storage cheap as fuck and slow, recommended for anything bulky like multiple games and movies, song libraries that sorta thing
ssd
fast, sorta expensive but becoming cheap enough, small in size, also more power efficient and throws off less heat
great for boot drives, laptop drives and core applications and really good for those one or two games that need fast reads
If I get an ssd, is there any way to transfer my os onto it?
For some reason, chrome won't pin websites to the taskbar. I'm going to the hamburger menu, 'more tools', 'add to taskbar'. The task bar flashes really quickly and then nothing. The site doesn't stay pinned. I'm on Win10.
Anyone got any ideas?
yeah can confirm im also getting the same thing you're seeing
I've found the solution here
Basically,
At the time of writing there’s a bug that makes the app shortcut go to the Windows 10 Start Menu instead of the Task Bar. Click the Start Menu, then start typing the name of the site. When it appears, right-click the entry and then click “send to Task Bar.” The website’s icon will appear on your Task Bar.
They should probably keep the "Pin to Start" function once they fix the taskbar thing, because that's honestly nifty as hell
Anybody know of any good free video editing software that can do things like video over another video (multi-track?) and zooming into video?
