vista 32 bit (best buy was being cheap and gave us 32 inseted of 64)
would this run gta IV?
What?
He had some shitty 3GHz dual core CPU, probably an AMD, then he got some quad core and GTA IV ran a lot better.

You bought the full retail Vista box, right?
You need to go on MS's site and request a 64-bit disc.
son nova-bitch
thanks Prismatex, how do you know all this stuff?
Happened upon it the other day.

I bought a dual core (AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ - 3.0 Ghz) for the computer I put together recently. I mostly play Source-based games and it works very well.
I kinda have a similar question and i felt it didnt deserve a thread.
Intel E8400 or AMD Phenom II X4?
I'll be playing Crysis and Prototype alot...
:froggonk:
Enjoy your faulty quadcore
You do realize that tri core CPUs usally have a fully functioning forth core, and can be unlocked on some motherboards, right?

2/10
your trolling sucks
If you are going to buy the i7 920 see if you live near a Microcenter. They have it on sale for $199, $80 less then newegg.
Or you could go with the Q9550 which is $169.
Fuck you AMD and ATI pwn Intel and nvidia also fixed
they're both good companies
keep the fanboy shit to yourself
I have a friend who has jsut about the same build as me.Except i have Q6600 @ 2.8ghz he has a E8400 @2.8ghz.I dont like overclocking much so i just do a bit.Anyways when we play GTA4 i get about 15-20 more FPS than he does.
Id say go for a quad because you never know you might see a game you want to play and you will be set pretty good if its a higher end game.
Thats my take.
Why did he downclock his E8400?
You do realize that tri core CPUs usally have a fully functioning forth core, and can be unlocked on some motherboards, right?
that's why he said that, hurf durf
tri core 4 core may not work properly
Why did he downclock his E8400?
I think i may have his mixed up.Thats on me.I always get confused too many Core2duos.Ill find out what it is.All i know is hes has his core2duo @ 2.8ghz.
Tricores ftw.
Eh, there actually quads, with a few bios tweaks (phenom 1 not 2, Not sure about 2) you can unlock that hidden core :-)

Man that was annoying.
There have also been reports of dual cores having 2 extra cores unlocked. Would be cool if the 7750 I get has 4 functioning cores.
I think that's only for phenom II's not kumas.
^
tl;dr
dual cores are better
