Someone build the damn guy a computer already. I gotta get off so I can't
I would think the 5870 would be pointless considering it's going to be outdated soon and I was thinking maybe something that would be a bang for a buck. I was thinking the GTX 460 since it's not that expensive and is pretty good.
Your obviously :bandwagon:ing, the 5870 is not going to be outdated ANYTIME soon. Please..
Just leave.

Just shut up.

If OP doesn't want a 5870, it's maybe he can't afford it (Don't forget the 5870 is about 360-450$/€) and this card is like 1 year old, and the 6000 series which are coming soon.
There's also the 5850, which he can overclock quite a bit to 5870 speeds
The problem of 5850 it's more expensive sometimes than GTX460 (1GB) for the same performance (GTX460 is capable of outperform the 5850 even). Except if ATI will drop the price, it's not very recommended now.
I just want to make an apology for taking a liking to Nvidia/Intel more than ATI/Amd, and I can see where you all are coming from clarifying me as a bandwagoner I guess... I just need a computer that will last me like my Dell has. The 8800GT has done a great job the past few years but I really think the 460 is the next coming of it if you don't mind me saying unless you know of a card thats a better bang for the buck ^^.
Yup seriously the 460 1GB is a great deal (Take the MSI Cyclone if you can)
[editline]10:57AM[/editline]
You can play your games at 1680x1050 resolution and 1920x1080 too
Go with the 460 1GB

I'm not really a fanboy nowadays
Can anyone just please build me a computer?

Should come out to somewhere in the realm of $1250.
Can you tell me what the difference is between i5 and i7? thanks
Speed and price.
[editline]11:55AM[/editline]
That's really it, I7's a lot faster than i5, but also a fair bit more costly.
G.Skill for RAM

he doesn't need an SSD, and just get a GTX 480 with the money you save on the SSD
[editline]10:27PM[/editline]
i7 is not a lot faster than i5, no where near a lot

i7s are not faster for gaming. If you use your computer to game, get an i5 750. The i7 series is better for rendering and such.
Does anyone know when Nvidia is going to release their new line of cards? Also will this ram work:

Perhaps faster wasn't the best word..
And yeah, he doesn't need an SSD, but it'd be nice to have one :v:

PSU is shit.
i7 has almost identical performance in games, but it's got better rendering performance.
PSU is shit.
OCZ ModXStream PSUs are not shit.
PSU is shit.
incorrect
Maybe not, but with his budget, OP can go with Antec, Corsair, Seasonic PSU instead.
PSU is shit.
It's the OCZ Fatal1tys that are shit. ModXStream is great.

Why doesn't anyone get a Soundcard with their PC. I am not 100% why not but I always like having one.
^ What? There's a sound card integrated on the mobo you know.

They're not necessary unless you're an audiophile. You'd also need to get a good system to match with the performance of the card. I also hear of driver problems with some companies, I want to say Creative but I'm not sure.

*Creative Labs
Oh haha, I just like messing with the SB XFI module ^^. Any other changes to the pc?
