can we please use some common sense people i have collected many legitimate infringement notices. i downloaded games and programs from powerful companies, i got caught 3 times. Its the IP logging companies that track you down, apart from this one which seems as if they created thier own cheeky method of catching people. all they do is send you and infringement notice. chances of them doing something about it are fking slim!!! especially if you are not in their country. if anything does happen you will get a knock on your door, either asking for a "bribe" which would be a fair sum of money so you dont have to appear in court, the sum depends...i would say around 150$-1000$. or if its really serious cops would come knocking on your door, if youre lucky they wont have a warrant, if they dont have a warrant to search your house you dont have to let them in, it wont take long to for them to get a warrant, so always make sure you have a windows Master CD/key ready to re install your windows, and have a spare un used Hard drive available, because even tho you reformat your HD as many times as you want, the police can scientifically retrieve your information. as for the hard drives that were in your computer smash them into tiny pieces and burn them, along with ANY Cd's that contain anything illegal, they literally sift through your house, even break down your walls. they cant charge you with tampering with evidence unless they have proof. If you are using a Wirless router, then you will have a much higher chance of not being sued. anyone can hack into your wireless modem, no1 can prove it was you. if you are purely using LAN, youre gonna have a tough case trying to prove it was not you. anyways, if they say it was you DENY if you get caught DENY DENY DENY DENY. now. as for this petti BS. seriously. do you think a company that sells cr*ppy programs for a crummy amount of money is actually going to go to the effort to sue you.....you decide -__- and out of all the infringement notices ive received NONE of them ever said something like "Obtain a Serial Number and Legal License Purchase or receive a free serial number and license for the software immediately to make yourself legal and avoid illegal software usage. Click for a FREE serial number and license for the software from TrialPay - OR - Click to purchase a serial number and license for the software now! " seriously! think about it, its a scare tactic to make you buy their product. if you got caught stealing some1ns car, do you think they would instead tell you that you now have to buy one of their friends cars? scare tactics mate. also, in infringement notice reports they mention your ISP, i didnt see my ISP mentioned in this 1 and anyone can know what time it is, what browser you are using and what your IP is http://www.danasoft.com/ although i do find this questionable. PGWARE Customer Support: Hello Alex: Hello. Alex: I recently got an email from PGware Alex: Apparently they have detected that I have installed Gamegain on a system I never did Alex: Now they say they want to press charges. Alex: After a bit of research, this whole report is fake. Alex: http://www.pgware.com/piracy/report/...=86.172.182.16 PGWARE Customer Support: One moment I will take a look PGWARE Customer Support: The report is genuine, someone logged in with the ip 86.172.182.16 has used an illegal version of GameGain Alex: No they have not. This computer is my office computer, the case itself is locked, it has an password, and my hard drive is encrypted. And what makes the entire event impossible is that I am using Linux. That is my IP. Alex: Of that computer PGWARE Customer Support: I can assure you it has occurred, give me one minute and I will provide you with the actual webserver logs PGWARE Customer Support: I am parsing the logs right now and will copy and paste each entry here PGWARE Customer Support: 2009-01-09 13:46:54 W3SVC584053429 74.55.25.194 GET /register/index.php product=gamegain&order=66064&serial=11133481683735 968&version=3 80 - 86.172.182.16 Mozilla/3.0+(compatible;+Indy+Library) - 200 0 0 228 216 PGWARE Customer Support: The software was installed on the machine and reported directly to us the time the illegal serial was used, which is 1:46 pm today PGWARE Customer Support: that is Central Standard Time in the US PGWARE Customer Support: 2009-01-09 13:46:57 W3SVC584053429 74.55.25.194 GET /piracy/report/index.php product=gamegain&ip=86.172.182.16 80 - 86.172.182.16 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows;+U;+Windows+NT+5.1;+en-GB;+rv:1.9.0.3)+Gecko/2008092417+Firefox/3.0.3 - 200 0 0 13179 687 PGWARE Customer Support: seconds after someone on the same computer visited our website which is the piracy report page, using the FireFox browsre Alex: Hm, well looks like I have a problem. I will have to take this up with the office (it's a firm), probably one of the employee's. Thank you for bringing this to my assistance, hopefully this can be resolved. Alex: Appreciate it. PGWARE Customer Support: You are free to send any information to support@pgware.com you find Alex: Alright. Thank you when ever i get an infringement notice, just dont reply, dont do anything, just be like "fk you" and relax. dont do anything illegal for a while, then start again :) put it this way, if some1 taunts 1000's of people and someone replies back, who do you think is gonna get the sh*t paid out of them? the guy that replies back. so just stay in the shadows. anyways, some ISP's doing give a sh*t about infringement notices, others do, if you collect a certain amount they will black list you and you could have a hard time finding an ISP that would accept you. just to put you more at ease Adobe, the company that made PhotoShop, DreamWeacher, ect, their stuff costs $1000's of dollars, heaps of people got caught, guess what, Adobe didnt do anything about it. so dont worry about a company that sells stuff for 10-20 bucks. 2nd of all, their software is sh*t.that programs would only work for cheap computers that have 100's of applications/programs running in the back ground. and usually those programs barely take up any space int he 1st place. dont even bother buying these guys sh*tty programs. anyways guys if you obtain fake serial, or it doesnt work, report it on the site you obtained it from, so other people wont have to worry about this shiz. i hope this helped people in some way. god. ive never written this much in my entire life lol. if you want more information as to how to protect yourself more effectively feel free to ask me. also on a side note. if you are downloading stuff illegally, it will never be impossible for you to get caught, the risk is always there. peer guardian2 and peer block barely do anything! and as for private trackers, they dont change anything. IP logging companies use a bot that types in all possible names of the program you are downloading and pops on a bit torrent client and connects to random "unlucky" peers and bam! and infringement is on the way.(this is in a nut shell) so for example if a game called...."Diablo 3" is being downloaded, but the title of the download is called " im a good boy" the bot wont search for that title, so you would be safe from the IP loggers, also if you download stuff from Rapidshare or file uploading sites like that you wont get caught, the files that are uploaded are protected and maintain privacy. idk why i bothered typing all this lol. anyways, if you dont want to get caught dont download illegal stuff.
why bump
Oh yeah, when this happened last year, someone posted the executable that creates the threat message. You know. We could really troll people with this.
well i did some research and the threats are made by a file called sysutil.exe more info at http://www.precisesecurity.com/files-process/2008/07/24/sysutilexe/

why bump
ohh yeah, well this thread gets bumped every now and then+ people that fell for the fake serial like me will be wondering "omfg im going to jail" i just wanted this mess sorted out once and for all and i wanted to reassure people. when i type "game gain 2 infringement" on Google, this is the 1st site that comes up. and i looked at the conversations and there are still people that are freaking out and want to be reassured, this is why i wrote that gigantic explanation. i hope it helps.
you have to be pretty dumb to believe that and, you didn't need to write that shit. See above. it's like the thing where you type in 'loli' or something on imagefap
