Wow... a web browser can play a game from the 90's... Wake me up when you have something impressive to show us, like being able to play Crysis on a graphing calculator.
if you don't understand why this is such a feat then don't bother
If you don't understand why it shouldn't be a feat then don't bother. (And there's been browser 3D games around for a while, remember Shockwave? And ofc Unity.) [editline]06:51PM[/editline] What the fuck happened to X3D anyway? 3D standards for the web have been floating around for ages, but no I guess it doesn't matter if you're Khronos because then you can just invent your own standard and everyone will follow suit.
And major nostalgia hits me..

So it's a bitch to run, doesn't make it good. My friend tried to impress me with claims that there's more code in one tree in Crysis than the entire game FarCry 2. Even if that is true, that isn't something to be proud of. "Hai, we crappily coded a tree that breaks with more code than a well-coded game we made."

Crysis is true to it's name when it comes to benchmarking.
All it said was Up to 60fps. That's probably only if you're looking straight at the ground with no AI and no movement.
The recording application was most definitely slowing it down if not simply recording at 10-15fps.
If you click the link you will see chrome requires the following parameters to run it: --enable-webgl --no-sandbox They also note --no-sandbox disables security features and so shouldn't be used in day to day.
no result, still complains. Does chromium = chrome?
no result, still complains. Does chromium = chrome?
If you're not running a dev channel build, WebGL might not be in. The WebKit builds are a safe bet imo.
I assume it is. Although Chrome is built from a stable source which may not have all the latests bells and whistles?
Cool man!
I just noticed something that might help this. I ran the IE9 Flying images benchmark on my Macbook in Safari and got 60fps(which is absurd as this is only 6fps than IE9 on my PC somehow), so I'm guessing Safari has OpenCL support going which should theoretically speed up stuff like this by tons (not that it actually did when I ran it but w/e)

oh. 6 less. Though admittedly it seems to be very inconsistent. Sometimes it will be up at 60fps, and other times it'll be down to 8, or even 2 or 3

OpenCL is something completely different.
OpenCL is for general computation done on a graphics card, and MS is doing that but with DirectX in IE9 [editline]01:48PM[/editline] And Snow leopard added OpenCL support to all of OS X so it is entirely possible it uses it [editline]01:48PM[/editline] though granted someone probably would have said something about it by now but w/e. Apple didn't mention Safari can do WebGL atm either
This is awesome
