What about the people like me who wanted Windows on a tablet device. I could put that to use instantly and constantly. I could have dealt with a little lag here and there, now I'm left in the cold.
There's some devices already out.
For example, Archos 9.
a phone running windows vista?
again...... I am actually going to vomit
For people who want all the power of a desktop PC in their pocket. (I'm serious, even though I just sounded like a marketer).
It's not actually a phone though I think, just a UMPC. I don't think it has 3G either.
And notice how Vista was rarely shipped on netbooks
Most computers are horrible overpowered for their use.
why put windows vista on it though????? compressing the whole cpu on a little gadget... looks really bad to use
Guy who posted the retarded vista running netbook doesn't realize the importance a tablet pc has with a pen.
I don't want to draw with my finger, and I don't want to take special notes in class with my fingers either.

I bet it has a resistive touchscreen, so you can use one of those small PDA styli.
[editline]03:11PM[/editline]
A tablet with a stylus will usually have an active digitizer though which is much better than a touchscreen (much higher responsiveness, sometimes higher accuracy, you can move the cursor without clicking by hovering over the screen, pressure sensitivity) but requires a special pen.

so?

Hey, guess what:
It comes with a stylus.
Maybe you should try reading and researching, I hear it's good for you.
so?
Don't complain when it isn't.
Apple wins yet again.
Don't complain when it isn't.
what? Netbooks are widely considered to be underpowered for Vista. Not sufficient.
what? Netbooks are widely considered to be underpowered for Vista. Not sufficient.
I've used an OQO with XP and 7 on it, never Vista though.
I imagine it would run alright, considering the best model of OQO has 1.75GB of ram dedicated for the OS.
Wait, just checked, the newer OQOs actually have digitizers and 3G. Nice.

you compare a stylus with a resistive screen to a pen with a digitizer?
Styluses are pathetic..
Better than finger painting though. Good enough for raw sketching hat would be impossible with a mouse.

Yeah, they're great little devices, aren't they?
I just wish they weren't so expensive. I'd own one now if I had the money.

It has a real QWERTY keyboard and mouse. Make your notes readable instead of scribbles that are illegible to everyone but yourself. It even has a dockng station so you can use a full size USB keyboard and mouse. (The docking station also adds a DVD drive, meaning it's technologically superior to the Mac Book Air and iPad.)
You can paint just fine with a stylus. Hell, I've seen some beautiful paintings made with a DS and some homebrew applications.
How could you not like this thing?

OLED Screen

Solid State HDD

3G Connectivity

a/b/g Wifi

Finger & Stylus touchscreen

Runs Windows 7

Flip out QWERTY keyboard and mouse

GPS support with a car mounting attachment and software.

Built in Computrace support if it gets stolen (Even if the person who stole it reformats the HDD, you can still get their exact location and in some cases their name.)
I don't think a UMPC would be very comfortable to use. I personally like my W7 tablet PC (convertible, so with a hardware keyboard) :)

Well people have drawn the Mona Lisa with Paint and a mouse so that's not really an argument, is it?

Flip out tablets are great, they just aren't as portable. The OQO fits in your pocket, while if you want to put a tablet away you'll need some sort of way to carry it. I'll go edit my original post so it doesn't look like I'm implying all tablets are bad.
Good point on the paint thing though. Touche.

If it wasn't a stylus then your notes wouldn't come put scribbley, anyways, have fun using a querty keyboard for taking trigonemetry notes.
Anywys, please don't say that painting with a stylus is easy, sure it's good for retarded doodles, but I want a powerful pen device, I don't think it would be easy to recreate this with a fucking stylus,
I currently own an i3 and a cintiq, so anything that isn't as powerful seems like a childs toy to me.

Wait what ? Windows 7 is fucking amazing.
Didn't say it was impossible, like that guy who mentioned the Mona Lisa on ms paint, possible but comon man, why pay money for something that is so much more fucking annoying than something like a proper tablet pc with a real pen digitizer, which is a lot more quicker and definatley more efficiant.
Also that rooster is bad ass, the chick though, is precicly why I would avoid a stylus.

You do realize the model of OQO I posted has a pen digitizer, right?
If the thing wasn't so small and expensive I'd consider it.
You do realize the model of OQO I posted has a pen digitizer, right?
In the specs you listed you said touch and pen stylus screen.
What kind of digitizer does it use? A wacom based one or gimmicky 0% pressure sense one? I would research it, but I'm in class about to head out for lunch, if this thing has a good digitizer then I think I might get one if there is a bigger one.
[editline]06:33PM[/editline]
Well I just went over to their site real quick.. It mentions nothing other than a stylus for pen input?
It's not bad really, they're going to be making a WebOS device instead. An OS that's actually built for mobile devices (although they did seem to have some fancy UI on top of Windows 7 but people were saying it was slow etc). It will be the equivalent of iPhone OS on the iPad.
Except you're forgetting that WebOS isn't a giant piece of shit like the iPhones. With webos you actually have control of your device, and multitasking.

WebOS' application catalog is nothing compared to what's available in the App Store though.
Wait, just checked, the newer OQOs actually have digitizers and 3G. Nice.
It's been like that for a while now. At least a year.
I would've bought a Slate.
That's what we all said about the iPad too.
"we'll buy anything new and shiny from apple"
Shit, that's why my stocks are down.
