I won't be switching as i like my Firebug.
My argument is that addons aren't inherently more insecure than built-in code, for the reasons outlined in the posts above.
I argue that they are because the browser plus the extensions must be seen as a whole. Extensions add extra security holes and hinder the browser's overall reliability. Interesting, I think I'll try this when it comes out of beta.
Well that looks like a copy of firebug, but i don't want to move all my bookmarks and plugins over.
Opera can import from other browsers. You won't have to reinstall plugins.
Coincidentally, 10.5 is how many people use Opera on a regular basis in the real world.
I argue that they are because the browser plus the extensions must be seen as a whole.
No, they can't. That's like saying Windows is more vulnerable the more software is produced for it. The individual parts of the software are vulnerable. You don't blame Mozilla when there's a flaw in Flash, do you? That'd be retarded. You can only compare "Browser + Addon including feature X" against "Browser that already includes feature X", since the argument is about the security of addons versus built-in code.
Extensions add extra security holes and hinder the browser's overall reliability.
That's not the damn point. The exact same code in Opera's code base is going to have the *same* vulnerabilities as if that code came from an addon. They're both going to be updated at the same pace if they are actively maintained, and even faster in the case of addons (since one could easily argue that addons are easier to push an update for than the whole browser, since Mozilla groups some of these updates together). That, and the user can actually decide to turn off a feature if it's vulnerable, which makes it even safer. That, and plugins and addons will eventually be automatically sandboxed, which makes it even _more_ safer.

I kid I kid It's a nice browser, and if I weren't too lazy to copy my bookmarks over manually I'd use it over Internet Explorer
words
Sometimes i want to be a mod and ban people to hell... I'm pretty sure IE can export bookmarks and Opera should be able to import them. Would be a deal of 2 minutes. :argh: Breaking my automerge
Sometimes i want to be a mod and ban people to hell...
If having a calm and factual argument about something that is of incidence to this thread is a bannable offense, then a mod can step in and I will stop posting immediately. Until then, I don't really care that you aren't able to handle more than 3 lines in a post.

Until then, I don't really care that you aren't able to handle more than 3 lines in a post.
That shit is by far off topic. Your silly little argument can easily be lead on a private basis. Nobody except you and your self-righteous ego care. This thread is about Opera, even if you were right nobody would give a shit.
actually laughed. I'm pretty sure IE can export bookmarks and Opera should be able to import them. Would be a deal of 2 minutes. :argh: Breaking my automerge
It can't export bookmarks IIRC, but all it's bookmarks are actually stored in your user Favourites folder anyway so it's not a big deal. And I've looked in Opera but not seen any import option. I tried drag and drop into the bookmark manager and it just opened all the links in tabs :/
In Bookmark Manager: File -> Import Internet Explorer Favorites

I don't have a self-righteous ego just because I have an argument about addons, that's complete rubbish. And obviously at least 2 people care.

Go to File / Import and Export / Import Internet Explorer favorites and the just browse to and pick that folder. Should work. FFFF Ninjas.
It can't export bookmarks IIRC
Yeah, IE can export bookmarks. It's in the File menu.
I disagree with your views, gparent, but I will drop the argument because I love all of you
I disagree with your views, gparent, but I will drop the argument because I love all of you
Alright :)
Sometimes i want to be a mod and ban people to hell...
And that's why you'll never be a mod.
Yeah found it now, except being beta it's buggy it seems (or I hope so foe Opera's sake) [editline]04:23PM[/editline] I should have more than one bookmark under Links, but alas I do not
That's... weird
PS serials for iWork come up if you search for Vancouver 2010 and I was merely checking if the links were lying or not.
PS serials for iWork come up if you search for Vancouver 2010 and I was merely checking if the links were lying or not.
I believe you [editline]02:59AM[/editline] Are you sure your IE favorites are set out properly? I just imported mine and it worked fine.
oh fuck oh fuck i love it
And that's why you'll never be a mod.
You ruined my dream. :saddowns:
You ruined my dream. :saddowns:
Don't worry, he's just a big meanie
Don't worry, he's just a big meanie
Actually he's a Premiere Tasty Roast Beef my good sir.
Don't worry, he's just a big meanie
 Also, seeing the horrible structure MS has put their default bookmarks in, it's no wonder when shit gets lost.
