You haven't seen many droids then
Name one with build quality comparable to the iPhone 4.
Name one with build quality comparable to the iPhone 4.
There's a reason insurance is/has never been available for the iPhone. Because they break a lot and are fucking expensive to replace. IMO that's reason enough. Fuck the haters.
Name one with build quality comparable to the iPhone 4.
Okay. Motorola Droid X.

Fuck the haters.
Break a lot? Sure if you smash it into something it's going to break like any phone. Also, O2, Three and Orange offer insurance for the iPhone 4, dunno about the others. Carrier insurance is a giant rip off anyway, why would you pay £10~ per month when you could put it on your house insurance for much much less.
No, it's not a bandwagon. It's a matter of fact. Open Platform More powerful devices Fast moving market Scalable Easily customizable I used to swear by Iphones and Ipod Touches. Thing is, no matter how I looked at it, I couldn't see a single thing about the Iphone that is better than most Android devices, save for the screen. And even then, I prefer the Super AMOLED of the Samsung Galaxy S over the Retina of the Iphone.
Not iPhone vs Android, Apple in general is hated here
Not iPhone vs Android, Apple in general is hated here
Oh. Well yeah that makes sense. Though I really can't say I hate a Mac as I never owned one.
Okay. Motorola Droid X.
Not available in the UK which is where the OP is.
Not iPhone vs Android, Apple in general is hated here
oh hey wasn't it you that jumped into this phone based thread trying to start an alienware v mac argument mactrekkie v2 [editline]11th February 2011[/editline]
Not available in the UK which is where the OP is.
I don't see specified anywhere in your post that your arguments only apply to phones the OP is able to own oops that would make you wrong, silly me there's no way that could be a valid point then
I would suggest going and trying out both phones, and deciding on which one you like better. I did this, and though Android was nice, I preferred the iPhone. Some people like one, some like the other; you should go out and see what you like about each phone, and make a decision off of that.
Galaxy S. From what I've heard though, a Galaxy S 2 is in the workings and will be dual core.
I hated the iPhone, I had never used it until now, literally this is my first hands-on experience with an iOS device besides playing Plants vs Zombies on a friend's iPad while I was bored out of my mind.
http://gizmodo.com/#!5729273/dont-buy-the-verizon-iphone-4
Apple will announce a new iPhone in June, as they have every year since 2008. It'll go on sale later that month, or in early July, as it has every year. That's six months from now. And it'll be better than the iPhone 4 in some tangible way. Maybe not on the order of the leap from the 3GS to the iPhone 4, but it'll have something new to offer. And everybody will want it, because that's how things seem to work with Apple: There's just enough new to make whatever Apple product you've currently got in your hand feel deficient in some way.
Samsung has shit reputation for updates(2.1!), and honestly the Nexus S is a an official developer phone anyhow, so just get that if you want something right now.

Samsung might have a shit reputation but I trust in the homebrew community :v:
I hated the iPhone, I had never used it until now
gg
Galaxy S. Don't buy that CPU, a new one is coming! Of course something new is coming - You just have to choose the best device at the time and stick with it. It's unlikely in a years time the galaxy s is going to be considered particularly slow. I'm probably getting one next month so I'll let you know how that works out for me in a years time :p
Galaxy S if u want a good phone iPhone if u want to be cool

Everywhere else is on 2.2 and CyanogenMod has me on 2.3. Just install a rom from another country, it isn't fucking difficult.
Absolutely go for the Galaxy S, it has some of the best community support you will ever see. Voodoo Sound for example - you could pay hundreds on high end headphone amplifiers, sound cards etc. which the Wolfson WM8994 in the Galaxy S will easily beat, now that its potential has been unlocked. Amazing audio output for headphones - leaps and bounds better than what equivalent Apple hardware produces. Alternatively get the Nexus S if you want guaranteed updates from Google, but the original Galaxy S seems to have a stronger following. For the Galaxy S, I highly recommend the top deal on this page: http://www.mobiles.co.uk/orange-samsung-galaxy-s.html - works out at just £500 for 2 years with 500MB internet, 300 mins and 'unlimited' texts, and no upfront cost at all.
What is this Vodoo sound you speak of? A custom Rom, an App, Kernel?

It's nice to have a manufacturer that actually gives a shit and develops updates for your platform.
I know, but you get what I'm pointing at. [editline]11th February 2011[/editline]
What is this Vodoo sound you speak of? A custom Rom, an App, Kernel?
Kernel. Voodoo sound is part of the voodoo kernel which includes rfs to ext4 and other improvements.
I wish we had Android phone which looks like iphone 4
I wish we had Android phone which looks like iphone 4
Why would we ever want an external antenna which could be shorted out?
US phone carriers are fucking shit. In Brazil, all phones have to be sold unlocked (law) and contracts have to be 1-year long at max. Not to say that if you break the contract you can't pay more than the price of the device, as in if the phone is sold for $300 without a carrier contract and you bought it for $150 + 1-year contract the maximum price you can pay for breaking the contract is $299. Before that, carriers used to do $1 for phone + 5-year contract, and if you broke it you had to pay like $600, twice the price of the phone. It's awesome
but that means you can never have a completely free phone unless you pay out the arse monthly contracts are a good thing if you understand them not that US carriers aren't shit.. UK ones are good though!
Canadian ones are shit I think we can all agree. [editline]11th February 2011[/editline]
Why would we ever want an external antenna which could be shorted out?
wut

You can only have the signal drop by intentionally doing that. I found this pretty funny http://www.apple.com/antenna/
You can only have the signal drop by intentionally doing that. I found this pretty funny http://www.apple.com/antenna/
I've had it happen without doing it intentionally. What's even worse is the CDMA version on verizon has the antenna on top. Did apple forget that when you use landscape your hand touches the entire fucking antenna?

You're never going to squeeze your phone hard while holding it normally.

You dont have to press down hard to short a circuit out. It is an issue, and it does happen.
