I recommend the new Phenom II X4 965 with C3 stepping. TDP went down to 125 watt and overclocks to 4.0 GHz easily on air.
The 955 is cheaper and performs just as better.Plus can be overclocked just as easily.
Save the money and get the 955.

My friend haves a AMD Phenom II X4 965 and it KICKS ASS! He even overclock and its was very freaking fast.
965 is the same as a 955 but with a higher multiplier.
Meaning you can just increase the 955's multiplier and all of a sudden you have a 965.
Get a 550, enable ACC, maybe it will be a stable quad, maybe it won't. Either way it's a great processor.
a high end dual is better for games yeah???

A high end dual is better than a low end quad.
A high end quad is better than a high end dual.
They overlap if you see what I'm saying.
Made this to explain.

No, they're different, 955 uses C2 stepping while the 965 uses the newest C3 stepping (the only CPU uses C3), therefore it should overclock better than 955. C3 stepping includes some new power saving features like improved C1E etc.

Mine didn't unlock but hey it is the game you play also on the graph about duals and quads I think they could over lap a bit more.
