Common sense
Doesn't work, no matter how hard you try. Some exploits you *cannot* expect.
I use Kaspersky and it hasn't let me down. Best AV I've had.
hohoho
can't have tried that many AVs then
MSE. You don't need anything else.
Currently using avast! on my PC. Been meaning to try out MSE, but I'm a bit sceptical of most Microsoft products. Live Essentials really put me off their software.

That's true, but using your common sense can avoid many and many viruses, and the ones which you *cannot* expect are stopped by a regular viruscanner.
So if you avoid strange stuff (illegal programs, programs which promise things which are too good to be true or programs which come from a popup such as 'free emoticons/cursors/blah' etc), you will be ok.

No. You won't. I'm sorry to say, but no amount of common sense can patch new exploits. Some kind of virus protection is needed, even if it's a barebones one.
nod32
Eset Smart Security. All the awesomeness of Nod32, and more!
I also use Avast!
I happen to like BitDefender.

Ofcourse a virusscanner is needed, but what I want to say is that using your common sense will be a lot more effective than a virusscanner.

No, it won't. Common sense doesn't prevent you from getting infected by an ad on a website you trust. It also doesn't warn you of flash 0-days.
A virus scanner won't prevent the actual exploit part, but it will be able to scan the payload, unlike a human.
Just installed MSE. I'm surprised, it seems pretty damn solid.
Nice job Microsoft.
I've been using MSE since it came out of beta, and the first and last thing I got was some trojan from an ad.

Was that the one from wow.com ?
AVG doesn't cut it anymore. Don't like the updates and it misses stuff.

y
avast
I don't have an anti virus installed :(
Avast! is the best I've used to date. Terribly disappointed in the past by AVG and others that let in some massive system cripplers. Haven't had a single thing get past since I started using Avast! a year or two ago.
New interface is nice too.
Rising anti-virus
ugh, please don't revive old threads
