I got my couch. Now I have a place to position my rear speakers and sub. Finished tuning it yesterday night.

What's the information on the setup?
What's the information on the setup?
I'll make it simple because there is a LOT that can be covered.
Anyways, the Couch:

Doesn't look like much besides a couch but it's important. The location of the couch is important when installing the sub and rear speakers. The sub hides behind it while the speakers are on either wall.

[sub]Wow, was that text JPEG raped[/sub]
The sub is powered by a half-dead Pioneer A-30 which comes on when the main receiver is turned on.

The main receiver system consists of a Sony STR-DE515 for analog switching and amplification and above it sits the SDP-E800 which inputs coaxial and optical digital signals and outputs the separate channels to the 515.

The theater is switched. no need to unplug anything. Just press three or four buttons.

This makes things idiot proof to use but leads to a lot of cables in the crawlspace.

However that is what you get when you have such a massive-ass system.

I have two laserdiscs that I use to tune the system. One was released by Dolby for multichannel audio adjustments and the other is called A Video Standard which is handy for keeping the rear projection screen in optimal condition.
I spy a dreamcast

And an original famicom, hnng
I recently got a Samson Meteor Mic and I'm trying to record some stuff with it but the audio gets distorted like so.

When plugging in some earbuds in the back for monitoring, it sounds fine.
Never mind, fixed it. Apparently it doesn't react very well to being plugged into a USB port on my monitor.
Is it bad that my bookshelf speakers are larger than the sub I am using?
its not bad but your speakers would probably put more bass out than your sub so theres no point in using it.
im assuming you mean the driver size and not the enclosure.
does anyone still make big stereo speakers with built-in subwoofers like in the old bic venturi's?

That'd just be called a woofer. You see quite a few less traditional 3-way cabinets currently than you used to because people prefer the narrow form factor for the space it saves. They sound better, the big 3-way setups, but most people end up just getting smaller mains and a subwoofer. Your best bet would be finding some vintage speakers or building your own, I don't see many contemporary speakers similar that are at all reasonably priced for normal users.

I mean both.
I have two Paradigm Titans (6 inch woofer, 4 inch tweeter) and a 4 inch Logitech sub.

your speakers would put out a hell of a lot more bass, and it would sound better too.

They have a pretty decent case of foam rot, so until I refoam them, I am using the sub for sounds under ~90hz.

They are from ~1995-1999.
What's the best way to convert speaker wires to RCA?
why would you want to do that? rca isnt powered?
What's the best way to convert speaker wires to RCA?
I am guessing you want to plug RCA into speakers. Not going to happen. Get an amp/receiver.

No I have a receiver that outputs through speaker wires and a set of speakers that use RCA as an input.

What are you using as an input to the receiver?

PC, Xbox, Satellite Box, Bluray player, etc.
TV and Xbox are optical, Bluray is Digital RCA, the rest are HDMI input
I have a VSX 1021-K

So I suppose you have normal front speakers and the RCA input speakers you are trying to add are dor your surround sound?
What speakers do you have? Its sounds like a proprietary speaker connector (wall RCA) Thats supposed to work with a standard surround set.

I already have 7 normal speakers connected to the receiver with speaker wire. The speakers I want to connect are both built into chairs. They have composite audio inputs for L and R on both speakers. I was going to split the connection for both chairs. I know it would be smarter to buy a couple new speakers, but I hate to have a set of speakers that don't do anything.
Is it bad that I have to use LFE crossover if I want to be able to click anything while listening to music?

click anything? what do you mean?
Got this old thing lurking on our attic, it's very shy compared to the other amplifiers / receivers of the other posters.

Slight information I know about it: Marlux MR-215, little beat up condition.
Made in Korea, mechanical tuner potentiometer string snapped. Tuner block still working fine.
Interesting is, the markings underneath the knobs and buttons look like German or something, considering Ein-Aus, which is probably On-Off.

Speakers vibrate desk. Have to use sub to vibrate floor instead.
no that's not bad at all lol, unless your sub sounds like shit. which it most likely does if youre using that Logitech junk

It is really not that bad. I typically have it at a significantly lower volume, so it is just helping my speakers along a bit.

I've got a Logitech subwoofer that's very nice. 120w 8" Tangband driver in a solid enclosure. It's from the Z-2300, Never heard a better 2.1 computer system, even the replacements for the Z-2300 are downgrades. They don't offer anything with near the performance anymore.
