Currently using my HD500As, best headphones I've ever used.
Aren't these pretty much for kids who listen to Lil Wayne or Deadmau5?
Lil wayne sucks, Deadmau5 is awesome.
-Snip for derail prevention-
My Heshes that my aunt and uncle bought me for Christmas a few years ago broke down a while ago. It literally fell apart, which says a lot about the build quality. Stay away.
They're still unnecessarily big and glossy though dude.
boo hoo my headphones look funny. Unless you suffer from Synesthesia and hear things from your eyes, it's not going to affect the sound quality. Which as the OP suggests, is good for $40.

deadmau5 is famous, but not completely mainstream. If they were, I'd have at least one of their songs drilled into my head all thanks to the shitty radio stations my sister listens to.
deadmau5 is fucking stupid, and the fanbase is even worse. Nothing but weird losers listen to it.
How the fuck does one come up with a name like Skullcandy anyway? :wtc:
Deadmau5 is awesome man, he uses those same samples in every song so gud mayne
I've got a pair of Skullcandy's and I don't understand when people talk about the cheap build quality. I've had my pair for several months and they seem solid enough. Maybe I'm an exception though. The sound quality is decent enough too. Still, they are overpriced and I wouldn't buy a pair; I only got these because my brother left them behind when he moved out.
deadmau5 is fucking stupid, and the fanbase is even worse. Nothing but weird losers listen to it.
Since when does the quality of the fanbase make up for the quality of the actual music. Listen to the music for the music itself, not for the fanbase surrounding it.
Since when does the quality of the fanbase make up for the quality of the actual music. Listen to the music for the music itself, not for the fanbase surrounding it.
*Listens again.....* WAT it still sounds like a recycling bin and Fruity Loops.
Since when does the quality of the fanbase make up for the quality of the actual music. Listen to the music for the music itself, not for the fanbase surrounding it.
It's nothing special, it's okay music that I'll listen to, though.
My brother got a pair a year or two back and one side is held together with tape. My pair of Sennheiser PX100s are holding up excellently, are light, fold up nicely and have excellent sound quality. They're usually around $40-50, though I managed to find a pair on eBay for $35. For earbuds, the MEElectronics M9s are awesome for price ($15 to $30). I own the M9P version, which has the microphone and the button for the iPod Touch, iPhone or any other compatible devices. They come with a lot of accessories for that price point. Instead of plastic, they're made of metal. The strain reliefs look well designed and the cord is durable looking. Skullcandy is okay if you need a backup pair or if you walk into a Best Buy with a gift card, though if you can wait a few days for shipping, there are plenty of better options.
So is it weird that I just head to RadioShack/Best Buy when I need new headphones, and grab whatever happens to be fairly cheap and not-generic-brand?
Main stream bull shit now.
Hipster.
HD 280's are for professional recording and mixing so they will be better than Skullcandy's
HD 280's are for professional recording and mixing so they will be better than Skullcandy's
no they're not, hd 280s are cheap crap compared to most of the headphones the pros use
Good thing i have to HD 280 PRO's then :v:
those are still cheap crap
I'll stick with my $20 Sony headphones, thank you. Silly audiophiles!
Whatevs. I got them for my live sound course anyway so i'm not bothered
at work we have 6 pairs of Sony MDR-7509HD headphones, they're some of the nicest headphones I've ever used. I'd like to get a pair for home, but msrp is $265, and it's tough to justify dropping that kind of money on headphones.
They're okay if you don't have money to spend on headphones. Just avoid their earbuds.
Um... I have a pair of their $7.99 earbuds in orange, and they sound flawless with my Samsung YP-T10 MP3 player. Their build quality is nice, and they don't fall out of my ears (Which is one of my biggest gripes about earbuds), and the bass is astounding. I also saved an additional 20% off at the register, so I really scored on these great skullcandy earbuds. I've had them for three months now, and they're still going strong.
lol
Hey, they sound great. Not tinny-sounding, don't scratch-out when bass hits, and the high's don't screech. My point is that even some cheap headphones can sound good.
I used to have Skullcandy's earbuds and I enjoyed them until sound stopped playing through one side and and soon they didn't work at all..
I used to have Skullcandy's earbuds and I enjoyed them until sound stopped playing through one side and and soon they didn't work at all..
99% of my headphones go through this because the wiring and the jack on the end are cheap as shit, no matter how much you spend on headphones. I have YET to own a pair of headphones with a strong jack wiring job that won't crap out. My Sony Bluetooth over-the-head style headphones sounded great, but after a year, the charging jack suddenly stopped charging them. :(
Now for the audiophile these headphones are clearly unexceptable.
I believe you meant to say "unacceptable". I've never really understood the audiophilia thing.
