Damn I come into this thread to tell you all how my PSU caught fire last night when instead I stumble on facepunch Jersey Shore: the thread But in any case, PSU caught fire last night... Played Witcher 2, PC shut off... wondering if I tripped a ccord I turn it back on to only find a little flame pop out of the back of my PSU :( I just bought $400 in new components so I hope my shit isn't fried, it was a coolermaster 550w.I'm thinking it isn't because from what I've looked up, stuff like hissing/sparks usually means fried shit and all I saw was flame. Guess we'll never know for sure untill I swap it out and test though. Gonna head over to best buy today to pick one up. It's overpriced by $20 or so (94 plus tax for a 600w corsair "gamer series" or some shit PSU) but atm I feel like paying for the convenience of being able to work on and do what I need to do now instead of waiting for shipping from newegg. Wish we had actual hardware stores around here.
See if you can return the power supply then order one from Newegg. I picked up one from my friend at Bestbuy, though it may have been some other store, and used that one until my order from newegg came in the mail. It was basically putting 80$ on hold for 3 days while I waited. It's a horrible thing to do as BestBuy is losing money, but they seriously can't expect me to put up with the shit customer service and high prices.

Thats a really good idea, I think I'll do that. Thanks! [editline]26th April 2012[/editline] What do you guys think of this psu? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371044
BestBuy deserve everything they get, I wouldn't worry about it.
It's their own fault they're failing anyway.

Aren't they already suing Blizzard over that? Nothing will come out of it seeing as they're EXTREMELY late to even sue them AND they'd have to sue every other developer that has made a MMO.
Patent was filed in 2009, WoW came out in 2004. Yeah, they're a little late.
So fucking CUTE
Of course I am.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultima_Online 1997 Like 12 years late, and maybe even later.
Yeah Point is they can't sue any MMO that came out before 2009 and most popular ones came around before then

Oh god, my HDD is making clicking noises when I start my pc, don't even know why as it's not my boot disk. Click of death or should I not be worried? Oh god why it keeps randomly ticking like a typewriter.
Why do I love birthdays? Parents - 50€ Grandparents - 50€ Relatives - No idea yet, probably 20€ or so. I also have relatives from Canada, USA and France coming over soon. Today, Friday and Saturday I think are the days when they are in this town.
Speaking of Best Buy, just returned from there 560Ti for $270 lol That's higher than what it was on MSRP on launch. Who the fuck sells something for higher than MSRP, especially almost a year after launch? To give them credit, my "fake" PSU was a 600w thermaltake, which was actually pretty reasonable in price - $65. Granted its not really a bells and whistles PSU but that's allright, just using till my new one arrives. I was going to get a corsair 600w "gamer series" PSU that on the website said my store had for $94, but LO AND BEHOLD they didn't have anything like that. It was either a stupidly low power PSU, the thermal take, or a super high end modular one for $120 [editline]26th April 2012[/editline] If I had lots of money to blow and a youtube channel I think it'd be pretty fun to do a series where a PC gamer tries and builds his entire computer using best buy parts and other such things

A lot of shit is marked up a LOT, but things like laptops and phones and consoles aren't really marked up.
That's probably because a lot of stores sell stuff like consoles and such, and they are in the popular spotlight far more than a video card would be They mark up what they can get away with basically off the ignorance of others. Then try and sell you service plans down your throat At least working there I hear is awesome. Your employee discount last I heard was whatever best buy pays to get it to the store, +5% So basically, if best buy paid $180 for that 560Ti, you'd only have to pay $180 +5% as an employee there. It doesn't apply to games or TVs or consoles though.
That's exactly what their employee discount is. A friend of mine worked there and got a pair of Rocketfish HDMI to AV cable that was normally $40 for like $12 after his discount.
Sold my ThinkPad T41 for about $150 (bought it for $100, all I did was do a fresh Win7 install, clean the inside of it, the screen and the casing). Now I bought a T61 for $150 (bargained from $200 because of the "terrible battery condition"). The guy didn't know anything about the laptop, but he said that the battery life must be crap because it was used a lot. Checked battery, it had 92% of the original capacity. Yup, terrible battery life. Got a bag, a charger, a mouse and a neat laser pen with it.

Especially since you can flip a switch and turn off the LEDs
I have the GS800, it's a good psu.

I have the GS600, apart from being non modular, it's a pretty good unit.
I need title ideas guys.
"oh god how did this get here i am not good with computer"
I need someone to give me a title that says "Have you tried turning it off and on again?"
I need someone to give me a title that says "Have you tried turning it off and on again?"
do you really NEED it?
