-sigh- i hate comcast. Downloading stuff at 2-3mb/s? No problem. Streaming YouTube/Vimeo/Netflix/Hulu at [del]1080/720p[/del] ANY FUCKING RESOLUTION? Nope nope, can't do it.
It's not comcast Video sites stream videos on a priority basis
It's not comcast Video sites stream videos on a priority basis
Well a few months ago I didn't have this problem.
YouTube and Hulu have always been terrible for me
everyone do this http://gentoomen.elementfx.com [thumb]http://imgkk.com/i/myxv.png[/thumb] expected higher on unix administration but I haven't used it for more than a few hours in ages so I guess it's to be expected
can't access it.. someone ran out of bandwidth.
can't access it.. someone ran out of bandwidth.
it resets every hour, just give it about 20 minutes
Well that laptop was ordered. Now I just gotta work on reformatting the netbook and upgrading basic to home premium again before the 20th. Sounds easy, right? Well I have a horrible feeling something's gonna go stupid wrong. Ergh. Normally, I wouldn't be bothered by this if I was smart, but this is the person who broke a master boot record trying to install Linux Mint on that damn thing. Obv not smart
it resets every hour, just give it about 20 minutes
Still down
Its up but its just a blank page.
yeah butt, fix it!

I thought that rm didn't delete files.
I thought that rm didn't delete files.
It's short for remove. What else would it do?
My planned budget of ~3k$ total for my new PC is now nowhere even remotely near that high. I'm so sad. :(
$3000 is a little much unless you have a triple monitor setup or are folding 24/7.
$3000 is a little much unless you have a triple monitor setup or are folding 24/7.
Unless you're in the UK
If they say it removes everything that fast, there is no way its overwriting the old files aswell. Wouldn't it be pretty easy to just get the files back? I mean it's not even -rf (Or atleast they didn't say), so it wouldn't even be recursive and ask if you'd really want to delete this and that
Well wtf happened to it?
file recovery isn't perfect.. what I'm wondering is how rm * would delete everything, unless they had all the files in a single dir..iirc, rm won't recursively delete directories unless you did rm -r
Unless you're in the UK
Hardware prices are insane here too. Look: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/SlEe7.png[/thumb] [editline]17th May 2012[/editline]
file recovery isn't perfect.. what I'm wondering is how rm * would delete everything, unless they had all the files in a single dir..iirc, rm won't recursively delete directories unless you did rm -r
More importantly why is he playing around in important files while on the root account.. I always set my permissions to admins group only if shit is important so I don't fuck up.
It's short for remove. What else would it do?

rm generally does not destroy file data, since its purpose is really merely to unlink references, and the filesystem space freed may still contain leftover data from the removed file. This can be a security concern in some cases, and hardened versions sometimes provide for wiping out the data as the last link is being cut, and programs such as shred are available which specifically provide data wiping capability.
[editline]17th May 2012[/editline] [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7333627/why.png[/t] Take a look at this picture. The two bits in the red circle are part of the HDD. They are holding the back cover of the laptop down. The two bits in the blue circle are part of the back cover of the laptop. The are holding the HDD down. Does anybody else see the problem this presents?
Man, I have the exact opposite of your problem. I'm fully employed now, but my subconscious is still in "broke college student" mode, eating at McDonalds and avoiding any impulse buys. I got my bank statement today. And then I spent an hour browsing 1440p monitors - I think I'll order two or three.
I sometimes forget that this is all (well nearly all of it) a loan that I have to pay back. About 25-33% of it is gratis though.
I'm trying to take screws off the front now because maybe there's a way there. I think I need to take the screen off now too. I'm calling planned obsolescence.
I sometimes forget that this is all (well nearly all of it) a loan that I have to pay back. About 25-33% of it is gratis though.
Exactly the same for me, I spend all my money but forget that I have to pay it back :v:
Exactly the same for me, I spend all my money but forget that I have to pay it back :v:
It doesn't help that my parents are all "Spend it while you can because when you're older you'll have bills to pay." Works for me.
it resets every hour, just give it about 20 minutes
Still dead. Is there a mirror? [editline]17th May 2012[/editline]
McDoughs is pretty good for the price.. atleast their breakfast shit.
McDonalds is fucking horrible any time. (in the US anyway)
It doesn't help that my parents are all "Spend it while you can because when you're older you'll have bills to pay."
Still dead. Is there a mirror? [editline]17th May 2012[/editline] McDonalds is fucking horrible any time. (in the US anyway)
in Canada they actually use ground beef instead of grass.
