So Sipwicket, I come here proposing a friendly challenge. Coremark! http://www.coremark.org Sign up here and download the benchmark, fire up your most powerful box and get compiling, Post the highest score you can get. I'll start. I got 150962.385206 on a 3930k, DDR3-1333 C9 32GB 8x4GB on CentOS 6.2 with GCC 4.4.6. Post the score you got, what specs (RAM and CPU is all that really counts), OS and then what compiler. Don't post compiler flags, I want to keep those a secret until later. Otherwise people will start copying others and that's no fun. So, get to it.

On a side note, you might have the advantages when it comes to flags, but I got some eh, uh, beefier machines. =)
You got nothing on my Celeron D's!
FIGHT ME BITCH.
Wow, I just got the stuff I ordered yesterday and no DOA's. Lucky.

I reformatted my netbook yesterday for my friend and got it all cleaned up and the essentials installed for her with a massive readme (because she's not the best with computers, but she can get by most of the time) She better take damn good care of that thing. If she were just a normal friend, no way in hell would I have done this, but she's my sister from another mister so I do the best I can for her. Upon thought though, I wonder if MSE will be enough for active protection. Besides Facebook, I have no idea what other shenanigans she does on a computer. Maybe I should've installed Comodo... :v:
I would not be that surprised if you showed up with the Pixar render farm or something
I can tell you exactly what he has.

Update. Just pulled 151032.052358 on the 3930k again.
:(
It's the case with everyone right now.
Why is everyone so hyped up about Diablo 3, I've been gaming for years and I've never heard of it.
I've never played a single Diablo game. What's the gameplay like? I look at gameplay videos and I can't quite figure it out. Is it a point, click, attack and just spam skills sort of thing or is there any actual combat skills involved with key/button pressing?
:(
And that's why you buy a box. No need to wait that long. Took me a max of five minutes.
Hehe, I got a secret card up my sleeve with Coremark at the moment, I'm already getting 20% performance increase in single thread, wait until I get it working with 12.
And that's why you buy a box. No need to wait that long. Took me a max of five minutes.
I got it free with WoW so it's the only reason I'm downloading it and the only reason I'm playing it. Never even played Diablo. It's not just the case of the downloader, that's what my connection is like atm. Bloody Three mobile network is brilliant some days and horrible the rest.

It's absolutely hammered right now. [editline]18th May 2012[/editline] Ok, that failed. I'm disappointed, Intel C++ compiler gives me a much lower score on multithreaded than GCC did. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
2007 was a few years ago I keep forgetting that my view of time is different from some others, 2007 was ages ago to some people
2007 isn't ages ago for me, but unless you're just throwing your life away, 5 years is some time. I have earlier examples of good Nokia phones, but I found those two the most relevant, as they would be in the middle of the supposed shitperiod. And aren't you American? Its not like Nokia ever had any market penetration there.
