just picked up a new i5 3570k at my local micro center for $180 instead of $250 on newegg
Who the fuck is that anyways
some loser
I wonder how the phone would have handled the terapixel version.
I might be wrong, but I think Steam intercepts the game's DirectX calls or whatever, and alters them - maybe the fps on the overlay is dependent on the game? It's probably some other reason, but this could be your a little more fly explanation.
Yeah, I'm fairly certain Steam uses the game's renderer which means if the game isn't rendering new frames you're not going to be able to use the overlay.
Does the GTX680 perform any different than a HD7970 with the memory? 680 has 2gb and the 7970 has 3 gb

All he needs now is a red coat, a sleigh and some reindeer...
Atm im looking between the Asus GTX670 DCii top and GTX680 DCii top. Also im wondering if i should use the extra money on a TOP version or just get a normal DC ii card.
Its about 50 euro more which i can spend, but idk if the top version has less overclocking capabilities, because its already factory overclocked. The 670 top is even a bit faster than a GTX680 , i just can decide between the GTX670 or 680 , you do save about 100 euro when buying the GTX670 TOP.
I'm probably not going to get a response from the headphone megathread any time soon.
Anybody know if a Audio Technica AT2020 would work with a XLR to USB cable?
Okay, just learned that the asshole I was talking about from 2 pages ago actually has a girlfriend at the time.
So, he told my best friend that the only reason that he;s asking her out is because he has a girlfriend.
Now I don't feel at bad as I previously did.
But seriously, how dumb are people now.

i believe the answer is "it wouldn't"

Well, I just saved my brother an assload of money. His Acer Liquid E, that he just got back from Acer (The third time) was crashing again. So he decided he wants an iPhone 4. We go to the Rogers store and they explain that he can get it for about $94 if he gets a data plan. Otherwise, he has to pay the full price. So he goes to calculate how much the data plan would cost, upgrading the whole family plan with one that includes data and my mom is shocked at the price.
He absolutely hates that phone and I don't blame him, so he's considering paying full price for it.
Then I have an idea. I'm the only one on our family plan with data, since that's basically my payment for making sure all the computers / electronics in the house are working fine. My Nexus S is a decent phone and will hold me off until I can buy a newer phone on Kijiji, so I ask the guy if I could "Upgrade" my phone, give it to my brother on his line and still have the discounts.
He says that's perfectly fine and goes on to explain what our contracts will look like and how the upgrades will work if I decide I want a shitty phone without a data plan. Oh well... I was hoping for a new phone at some point, though my brother needed that upgrade more than I did.
So I built my pc sometime last year during the summer and I finally just got around to taking the HDD out of my old computer, would it be okay to connect to my new one and look at the contents or would that be a bad idea?

If its the right interface, yeah go right ahead.
ugh deepfreeze
god awful chunk of software
Built my other brother's PC today, he's very pleased. I also setup our new router, an Asus RT-N66U. It's so beautiful and fast...

Unfortunately, it works.
For what, slowing computers down to a grinding pain to use level just so people who shouldn't be entitled to use a computer don't ruin them?

I think you're missing my point.
It works at it's job, just with some... unfortunate side effects. It's one of the only pieces of software that does it, it's not wise to disregard it, it does it's job.

I have no problems with it at school. I like being able to restart the computer knowing that I'm probably not being victimized by some keylogger.
woo

what about hardware based ones
what about hardware based ones
I check the keyboard cord ever time I sit down. If it's internal then our school is way fucked.
If its the right interface, yeah go right ahead.
Did it with my moms computer since it's a prebuild, was actually really boring I guess I deleted all the porn and stuff I had on it, was going to wipe it but you have to burn a cd for DBAN.
So.
I (hopefully) get my laptop and stuff tomorrow. And, naturally, one of the first things I'm going to do is wipe it and reinstall from scratch, both because of bloatware, and because I'm adding an SSD, and because I'm dual-booting this bitch.
Anyways, since I've never set anything up on an SSD-based system, I kind of want someone to double-check my plan, make sure I'm not doing anything stupid:
* Split the 128GB SSD into two partitions: a 100GB partition for Windows, and a 28GB partition for whatever Linux distro I end up using (the Linux partition will mostly be used for work - PHP coding, SSH and Firefox are all I need - so it can get away with being much smaller)
* Move \Users to the hard drive
* Install \Steam to the hard drive instead of SSD, since that will easily be 500GB+
* Leave Program Files on the SSD, since anything big enough to be a concern, I can override (unlikely to be a problem, since the biggest thing I expect to install is Visual Studio)
* Leave the hiberfile and swapfile on the SSD
* Linux-side, set up symlinks in my home directory pointing to my Windows-side Documents, Music, etc folders
I'm pretty sure that's a solid setup, but like I said, never done this before. My main concern is the swapfile - will that wear out the SSD too quickly? Also, is it worth it to do all the tricks to get *just* steamapps on the hard drive, leaving Steam itself installed on the SSD?

You poor soul.
Also, do NOT leave the Hiberfile and swapfile on the SSD, that you'll write-cliff that shit like there's no tomorrow. SSD's don't do rewrites well, not yet (Next generation of commodity is gonna be sweet, though)

1) Fuck you, PHP is fine. Especially with a good framework.
2) Swapfile I get, but the hiberfile too? I thought SSDs were tougher than that - I'm pretty sure the Firefox history file gets written to more often than the hibernation file.

1) PHP Sucks and the devs are complete asswipes living in their own world, not accepting problems or criticisms.
2) I should have elaborated on hiberfile, it depends on how much you use it. I use it daily on my laptop, and nightly on my desktop. Depends on your use.
