You don't buy batteries off eBay, It's like paying someone to put a bomb in your laptop
Instantly reminded me of this
Yeah. I am not paying $150 for an OEM one.

Genuine ThinkPad batteries are terribly overpriced.
well it's either the genuine one or one that's mislabeled and cheaper and an IED

Where do you buy your batteries, then?
I bought a new battery for my ThinkPad because the current 6400mAh I have (originally 7200mAh) is not enough juice for me. So I bought a 8800mAh one. Opened it, it is labeled 8800mAh, charged it.
Fast forward 3 hours later, it is charged, I look at the time remaining and it looks suspiciously low.
kondraki@SCPFoundation:~$ acpi -V
Battery 0: Discharging, 97%, 03:30:47 remaining
Battery 0: design capacity 6242 mAh, last full capacity 6242 mAh = 100%
Do you guys think I can get a refund for this? The item title and description both said 8800mAh.
I love your username & computer name.

What's the "kondraki" thing mean?
Where do you buy your batteries, then?
I haven't needed to buy a laptop battery so I wouldn't know, but reputable places that specialize in batteries would be a better option. On eBay, sellers always mislabel batteries or find some loophole to make it sound like more.
What's the "kondraki" thing mean?

http://www.scp-wiki.net/dr-kondraki-s-personnel-file
For those unwilling to read, Dr. Kondraki is a fictional character (Albeit likely to be partially based on his own author) working for the SCP Foundation who has performed some rather incredible feats such as riding a giant sapient lizard.
[editline]31st May 2012[/editline]
He also is good friends with a bunch of butterflies, so to say.
I understand that, I'm a fan of the SCP foundation actually
but why is it there, is VistaPowa Kondraki or something
I think I'm going to call my next Linux PC 'valvesoftware' and my user 'gaben'

I've bought two batteries off eBay (One for my Acer Aspire One and another for my Asus 1201T) and they were both as advertised and worked great.
About to buy the MSI GTX 560 Ti 448 Core Edition, Antec One ATX Case, and Logitech G500. Are all of these good products or should I swap any out for another?
So yeah, HTML5 is awesome (like you lot already didn't know that)

To my surprise, I was able to order one of the fabled Raspberry Pi's today. Has anyone else on here been able to get one? Because I added myself to the queue relatively early on and I'm curious as to how far into the queue they are right now. I bought mine from RS Components.

I wanted one, but then I realized I'd, in reality, probably never use it.
Speaking of laptop batteries, the one for my HP isn't bad, it lasts ~3 hours idle.
It's the £5 chargers you want to avoid.
anyone remember this?

15$. That's fucking cheap. Might actually buy it for my laptop.
that means if you buy a windows 7 machine they'll give you windows 8 for an extra $15

Damn, was bit fast there. Still, nice offer.

Thank you for making a purchase from Makol Inc.
So if I buy a new computer with Windows 7 now I can upgrade to Windows 8 at a low price. Neat.
Does it only include prebuilt computers or what?

Whelp, Corsair approved my RMA for my H60 (pump grinding), gotta pay for shipping from the UK to the Netherlands (which is probably going to murder my wallet, expecting ~£10), guess I'm stuck on boring old stock cooling for the next couple weeks :(

:O
This is pretty goddamn neat
Okay, this is weird. The capacity of my battery is fluctuating like hell.
kondraki@SCPFoundation:~$ acpi -V
Swipe your right index finger on UPEK Touchstrip
Battery 0: Discharging, 97%, 05:16:33 remaining
Battery 0: design capacity 5860 mAh, last full capacity 5860 mAh = 100%
This is on 97% charge, by the way.
What the christ, this thing is changing dimension, electrolyte or what?! All I did was turn off, charge, turn on.
[editline]31st May 2012[/editline]
5883 mAh now.
[editline]31st May 2012[/editline]
