i still can't bloody believe it
I NEARLY DIED
From now on, i'm NEVER working on PSUs or monitors again
Pepper;36155789']Guys, i've just done the most retarded thing IMAGINABLE
I just electrocuted myself
My god it was NOT fun
I was working on this monitor PSU and accidentally touched a VRM heatsink
-snip-
I accidentally touched the middle heatsink with my finger, it made my arm fly back and made me scream FUCK, now i'm shaking
[editline]1st June 2012[/editline]
Nothing hurts, it's just the end of my finger is tingling
Look at the heatsink before touching it next time.

As long as you don't touch ground with one hand and the capacitor with the other you generally don't die.
You're clearly invulnerable. Take advantage of your new found powers and save the world!
From now on
I AM ELECTRO MAN

NO. Become a real life Static Shock!
Pepper;36155940']The cap is rated for 400 volts at 100 micro farads
Looking at the traces, the part i touched is after the step down transformer.
wait
I COULD HAVE DIED
HOLY FUCK
[editline]1st June 2012[/editline]
HOLY ACTUAL FUCK
SCARY SHIT
Obvious electrical health advice coming up: If you still feel strange or have a headache / palpitations after an hour or so, consider a trip to your GP / minor injuries / A&E (if you feel really bad) just to get double checked. 400v in a cap isn't hugely healthy, but it doesn't sound like it's done anything scary.

Fuckin' nostalgia
If no other part of me was touching ground somehow, would i not have been shocked in the first place?
I've shocked myself with high voltage capacitors before, it hurts but it very unlikely to kill you unless you already have heart problems or are extremely unlucky.
Usually it's a good idea to always discharge the main filter capacitor in switchmode supplies, many have a parallel discharge resistor but this should not be relied upon since they can fail without warning.
Another thing you should be aware of is that the top vent of the capacitor (if it's metal) is internally connected to one of the terminals .
You should never touch anything while it's powered since most consumer switchmode supplies are not isolated from mains earth so touching it anywhere on the high voltage side can result in shock.
I have got a 20kV static charge before.
In a huge circle with other people. Fun, ain't it?
Static charges are nothing compared to the real stuff.

If it's static from another human, it's absolutely harmless. Because of the fact humans have absolutely shit capacitance, absolutely tiny. May have a multi killovolt charge but there's no current to it. No damage.

Whatever is the thing with what you can create static elecrticity and store it in a bottle-battery thingy.
I was the one holding the battery thingy thing.
Oh well, I know that the static charge isn't much but it was tingling :v:

A Leyden Jar?
Christ, the Core 1000 is terrible to work with. Thought I went safe with a Fractal case, but apparently nope. Hope you had a better experience.
What problems did you have with it?
[editline]1st June 2012[/editline]
Wow Newegg, eat a dick. Right after I pay $80 for the 500gb F3, the 1tb version goes on sale. FOR FUCKING $80.
What problems did you have with it?
Some of it was spawned by the fact that I used a 2.5" harddisk, and I couldn't for the love of god find a reliable way to fit it without the 5.25 adapter - the screw holes didn't match up at all, no matter how I tried to fit it. The adapter is extremely cumbersome, and with the PSU up their it was simply a mess to fit it all. Had some trouble with the DVD drive as well. It also got scratched up very easily, compared to other cases I've worked with. My mITX didn't fit before I cut part of the back up as well, though I'm not sure whether that was the placement of the PCI-E slot on my mITX or the case's fault. All in all, it was just a bad experience, but I hope it was just my combination of hardware, and not the case itself. Still, it should be able to fit in a 2.5" drive and a mITX without problems, it's not like they are that rare, and compability with mITX is also sported on their website.
By the way I made a 30gb partition, will that be enough to install Windows 7 to?
Oh my days.
I have the thickest friend ever. He linked me to a Linus video to try and prove to me that a 2500K is superior to an 1100T BE which I could be getting for FREE. His logic was that price is irrelevant and that therefore 2500K >1100T BE, even though the only game I will be using it for that needs CPU power at all is BF3, which is ALWAYS a GPU bottleneck so it makes no difference.
Note: I consider getting the same performance as a 2500K in things that I use for NOTHING better than paying 167 quid for a 2500K for better performance in thins that I won't ever need it in.
A Leyden Jar?
Yep, looks like it.
Weep, now I know more.
Oh deep joy, I can SSH into my remote server from my phone... but it times out on my hardline internet connection even though I can access the same servers website.
Cool. Sent a ticket to my ISP, got a call back in ~20 minutes. Nice.
And my router allows 1024 connections, I had 1023. Looks like it overloaded.
Checked my sisters laptop and what do I see? 3 torrents downloading + 1 uploading with max speed. I changed settings for her and now my router should not go BOOOOOOOM all the fucking time.
Well tits, the product key is invalid apparently
Well, I can connect to shellmix.com just fine, so it looks like my remote server doesn't like me... bugger!
Fuck you, Newegg, ship internationally. The F3 is absolutely goddamn nonexistant in my country.
Just got my new router up and running with my 3G USB stick. Loving it so far, it's the ASUS RT-N56U, looks great.
Also it's damn weird using a normal keyboard after using a mechanical one.
Once you go black (switches) you never go back
I want a Pi :( Wish they would hurry up and let me order one. Finally have money and can't spend it!
Why do people make such retina melting websites:

I've started playing WoW again for the next five or so days until my subscription runs out. Hopefully in that time my parents will buy me D3. For now, anyone that plays anything on Battle.net add my RealID: noobserv@gmail.com
And I had to take my mechanical keyboard back out due to the fact that I couldn't tell which hotkeys I was hitting.

How can you not tell what keys you're hitting if you can touch type?
Talking with a girl in skype.
Her laptop mic is so close to the keyboard that it sounds like a mechanical one. Weird.
